I think i have an answer to that. U see in the pov of sonic he did not know, he May have heard the sound of the glitch (that loud ass brrrrrr) and tought there was danger there, THATS why he stayed to think and then jumped into action but when he realised his enemy was too strong it was too late.
I just noticed something, everytime someone gets corrupted,they always get white souless eyes with no pupils and their huge open smiling gaping mouth with some glitch on them
