If I could fix Sailor Moon Crystal, I would still leave the Sailor Senshi X Shitennou love-pairing canon. But during Act 12, when the inner guardians successfully healed them, I will not let Queen Metalia wipe them out of existence (because that scene is very awkward with the girls unconvincingly crying). Instead of that, the four guardians and the four knights flew together to find Queen Metalia attacking Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. At this point, Sailor Moon was also able to heal Mamoru without all the "holy sword slicing drama." I would not let Usagi be hopelessly pathetic by repeating her mistake in the past life. After Luna's words of encouragement, Usagi simply was able to use the full power of the Silver Crystal, completing it and bringing Mamoru back to himself in the process. Then, the power-hungry Metalia attack them. And then, the shocked inner guardians witnessed the heroic sacrifice of the Shitennou by blocking Metalia's attack to their master, and that is only when they turned into gemstones. At the end of Act 14, Sailor Moon should have the capacity to turn them back to human (just like what she did to the stones of the Sailor Quartet). To make the Shittenou disappear from the scene, as to not disturb the continuity of the next four arcs, the restored four knights simply went to their respective bases: the four corners of the Earth (West, East, South, North), alluding to what they are based on (Buddhist's Four Heavenly Kings). Give them their own castles in these four corners or something. They continue to support Mamoru via gemstones (this can also be their star seeds or something), where they can appear holographically in Act 18 and in Dream Arc, keeping him updated about the four corners of the Earth. At the end of Dream Arc, I would make the Shitennou appear in Elysion along with the cats in their human forms (and perhaps the crows in human forms as well, because the more the merrier!). As the Senshi powered up to their Eternal forms, the four knights summoned their gemstones, surrounding Mamoru with bright light and that is when the Golden Crystal appeared... In the end, everybody witnessed the defeat of Nehelenia, and the Shitennou could leave the scene permanently with Helios this time, making way for continuity of the Stars arc.
