Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Gokulashtami, is a vibrant Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. Observed on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada (August-September), this festival is marked by fasting, devotional singing, and reenactments of Krishna's childhood antics, particularly the Dahi Handi event where groups of young men form human pyramids to break a pot filled with curd. Temples and homes are adorned with flowers, and the air is filled with the sounds of devotional songs and prayers.
