POP. Progressive Outside Partner. Thanks Megan. I always called those as part of the twinkle but I agree with you. Better nomenclature.
Haha right! It’s so confusing for students bc it doesn’t work like a twinkle.
Thank you so very much for great explanation. You're an excellent teacher.
Thank you!

For the past 14 months, I've been taking lessons exclusively on learning the Slow Waltz. Just the bronze level, with variations. The past two months, I asked my teacher to teach me Foxtrot. After only two months, I am as proficient with Foxtrot as with the Waltz. As you infer . . . same moves, different timing.
That's great! There are definitely a lot of similar moves, also learning a second dance i think is always easier than the first one.
Great idea for getting double use for Waltz patterns! Could Triple Two patterns also be used in Foxtrot?
Unfortunately no they can't. Triple two has a different structure. You may be able to adapt a couple of moves, but over all no.
Hello Sem. A very interesting question. Triple 2 step is sometimes called double shuffle. So is there a single shuffle? Is 3 beat hustle just the left half of a samba pattern? Samba pattern includes a hustle with the right foot? Lol. In any case dancing is movement with music. I separate my dance patterns in single or double steps and triple steps. That's how I transition my triple two patterns into west coast swing. And my triple steps in salsa incorporate into west coast swing. Confusing? Me, too. Keep dancing, it's fun.
When doing the grapevine do the hands go up and down As you're traveling?
Great question! No you want your frame and hands to be still other than leading the sides of the body needed. The more movement in the frame your partner might get a wrong signal.
Thank you. This validates my personal discovery of the timing relationship of 3beat waltz and 4beat foxtrot. My first lesson in foxtrot was initially 6beats and on the same beginner class introduced to the 4beats. Needless to say it was confusing. I was told the up and down in foxtrot is not as much as in waltz. Does that matter?
Socially it does not matter as much. But the flow or of foxtrot is more smooth with less rise and fall than waltz. Followers might follow better with less rise and fall.
I’m excited about these steps! Thankyou, nice people!
Yay! Good luck!
