Wow the box & majors are so beautiful that I was totally expecting all of the cards to have as much care & thought put into them. I hated the pips they are so boring in this deck 🙁 Thank you for showing it 🖤 I’m disappointed too. I really miss the days when shops had a full set of cards for each deck in folders you could flip through so you knew exactly what you were buying (old Crone here showing her age 😂)
I really dislike Inside Edition decks 😢 The majors are always well done and for the price you get pips. And they are never really transparent about it.
I like pips, but I think making them a bit scenic like they did with the Aces, would have been awesome (similar to the Thoth deck). There’s so much material that could have been used for scenes! 😔
Thank you for doing the flip through and first impression. I saw the deck and I love Lord of the rings in book form and movie form but I wasn't sure about if I really wanted to get it. But now I am starting to change my mind.
I purchased this deck right when it came out, and while I thought the woodcut art style was charming, I was really disappointed by the pips too. I'd purchased the deck to have as part of my larger LotR/Tolkien collection, and it'll stay for that reason, but other than one specific tarot project I did with it, I've rarely used it. Oh, the foldout guide has been a major PITA, like trying to deal with a stubborn map while you're driving. Not a fan. 😂
I would go with it if it didn’t have pips but images, but I agree with you, the pips are disappointing, I like the minors with images, especially if the majors and the court cards are as beautiful as these.
I like some pip decks, but that's not what I'm looking for in a Fandom deck. It just feels lazy instead of a purposeful choice. LOTR has more than enough story beats to fill out the minors scenically. It's why I don't generally care for insight editions.
Pip deck........*sigh* Tolkien's world was so full of imagery that for me that makes it a no immediately. I'm disappointed. Maybe another one will show up. Thank you!
I like pips - if it's a Marseille type deck. Not this type of deck, though. I never purchase a deck if the previews of it don't show the minors past the aces. Seems those are always going to be pips, and it's sneaky not to let buyers know. It's like the creators KNOW that pips aren't wanted. I'm so sorry you were disappointed. 😢
I really feel like pips do an injustice to something as rich as LOTR. I would have much preferred illustrated pips or even a blend of some artwork and pips.. these feel like lazy pips (copy & paste imagery) to me so I passed. The artist is great and I enjoy the old storybook style but I also hated the fold out guidebook. 🙁 it reminded me a lot of decks in the 90's though so the nostalgia factor was there. I hope Insight Editions starts listening to some more feedback. I did hear that the Beetlejuice tarot is illustrated so I think I may have to pick that up!
This publisher always sets up their decks like this. And they are cagey about showing the pips…… but every deck I’ve seen by them it’s the same story, really a shame.
If this incredible story can not be depicted I can not imagine which one can! It's a pass for me... It could be amazing!!! Thank you Raecine!!! ❤❤❤❤
Nice a Lord of The Rings tarot deck very nice ❤❤❤😊😊😊
I feel your pain. I just got Star Trek: the next generation tarot deck and it had pip cards too. The disappointment is real.

Yes.
I loved your phrase...."A little bit crestfallen...." ❤
Raecine, for the love of goddess, please share your top 5-10 books of all time and/or your booktube channel! 😅❤❤❤
@@TheArcherSoul haha! Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. I will be sure to update the description box with the book channel.❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for the review. I really don't like pip decks. It feels lazy and like they are trying to sell the deck under false pretenses.
I feel ya Raecine. I’m not crazy about pips either. Sorry this one was a disappointment. I’m going there this weekend because of you, so thank you! 😜

Ooooh! I'd love to hear about your top 5 novels of all time!!! Blessings
If you want a Lord of the Rings deck, an artist has one on Etsy that's beautiful
I agree! I purchased the Etsy version and think it's great
Yes! Have two copies of the Etsy artist’s version (just in case). Fickes Art
Really loved your reaction to the minors 😂 I had the same 🤣
The pips I mean
I was fooled by "The Labyrinth" some years back. I feel it lacked. I love LOTR, so I wish they would have done differently with this deck as well.

I accept your Aries tarot readings as impeccable feedback for me. Goddess Hekate uses you to send me intel.

I know this deck is going to be cool. :) Ya, The High Priestess is really cool.

Yeah , trade for sure. The drowning feeling of disappointment lingers time and again.
Pip decks just seem lazy to me 😐
@@Hankstermanjenkins agreed.
