" _Everybody can do it, but not everybody is _*_able_*_ to do it_ " . I'd change that catch phrase. It is a nonsense phrase. You repeated it enough to both catch my attention and to inspire me to examine it as a logical syllogism. Truth is more important than slogans. Congratulations on earning that patch. Not everyone can do it. Of those who can, it sounds like only a small fraction do. It is an accomplishment for which you should be proud. I enjoyed your video. At no point did it waste my time or get off task. Your editing was great. Thank you for sharing your experience here. The Corporal was correct. You deserve a larger subscriber base. I'll do my part to share your videos with like-minded friends. Best of luck.
Hello sir. I have been watching your videos since late last spring. I got into you because I was looking for survival videos that were high quality and taught by people who seem to know what they were doing. At the same time I got heavily into Dave Canterbury, and the Pathfinder School. Imagine my surprise when just recently I found out you were affiliated with them. It makes sense though since you teach the same quality material that they do. I thank you for your videos, but most importantly, I thank you so much for the service that you give to our country allowing me to watch these videos.
Even tho you are more on the master level in this matter, you went there to get the patch as a student. It means a lot. The moment someone thinks he knows everything and doesn't need to do anything is the moment of failure. Congrats once again. Rangers lead the way!
I'd like to add to what another person said about your videos. I like How you keep your Videos informative, Packed full of information as well as " Family Friendly " . How you handle yourself ( Both Your Language as well as your teaching ) is FANTASTIC. What you are teaching NEEDS to be taught and heard. THANK YOU SIR AND GOD BLESS.
I've lived a minimalist, self reliant, solitary, off grid life for quite some years now. Hunted, fished, and forage for a majority of my food. I learn something new everyday. He who thinks he knows everything, can learn nothing. Great video and congratulations.
Heck I'll soon be 66 and I'm still learning new things, there are times I'll learn something new and say to myself "Damn I wish I would have know this 40 years ago".
You still got the internet though? So how off grid do you mean? ----------> Just kidding ! Do trolls still exist?? I "think" I would like off grid living but like my "comfort zone" too much.... :)
I have not done this since I was in the Marines along time ago but I also be live every one should have these skills. I am now 62 years old and still enjoy my dirt time as I call it when I go hunting and fishing also hiking and do bush craft whenever possible so please keep up the good work.
Not sure how many years you have left to give Uncle Sam but I hope this is your retirement plan. You'd make an amazing instructor. There's an expression "Those that can, DO, those that can't, TEACH." I don't subscribe to it. Being able to do AND teach a skill is quite a thing and not everyone has it. You definitely have it!
I could never do all the exercise you people do, bur I but I would survive. Patches mean nothing to me, bit there is always something new to learn. No adventure is ever the same.
One less rattlesnake to worry about... My son -in -law killed a rattlesnake several years ago...saw it had a bulge , so they gutted it out.. Guess what was inside that snake? About twelve or so transparent pouches-eggs !!! 😳So when he killed that one rattler... he actually killed thirteen at one time!!! Yay!!! ... (Pawnee grasslands of northeast Colorado)... Anyone who kills a rattlesnake is a hero in my eyes... That’s part of surviving... not getting got by a getter... I knew you’d have something special to share with us when you completed your course... 😊 Thanks...
Survivalist = Snake Eaters. A true mathematical equation if there ever was one. Being a flyer in the Air Force our survival training was comprehensive but not so intense as yours. I would compare it to the Pathfinder intermediate course. Plus we had to do water suvival training which involved getting thrown into the middle of the Great Lakes-- no land in sight, with lifevests and an uninflated liferaft. After getting the liferaft inflated/occupied we took turns vectoring in Coast Guard helicopters to rescue us, getting in the basket and hoisted up, say hi to the pilots then get hoisted back into the water. Our motto was simple-- survival is easy- just don't die.
Great job Andrew and congratulations on your patch. Survival isn't so much a race as it is an endurance for skills, mental fortitude and luck anyone can do it but not all can.
You missed the boat with the Rattler. When I was 19 I killed one over 6 feet in length. Filleted the meat in strips about the same size and length as a # 2 wood pencil. Mom took a cast iron frying pan and fried the strips. Sweet meat , chewy and darn good. My girl friend came over and with the snake we had frog legs. ( I promised her a wild meal ) She liked the drumsticks with the little bones in them ( frog legs ). Really liked the thin strips of the white , sweet meat and wanted to know what it was . I said I would tell her in 2 weeks. 2 weeks later I told her and she turned GREEN.( later she got even with me , married me , so far for 56 years ) By the way the center section of the snake skin became a hat band for my Stetson.
Congratulations on the patch award Andrew. Another great video. I always learn something from you. Thanks for serving and providing the Freedom we have everyday.
I took the Randals adventure and training advanced training class 4 yrs ago and the mors kochanski karmat class 18 yrs ago they where very good classes with lots of living off the landscape teaching congrats on your patch
Way too go Andrew ! Looking forward to everything you care to share all your (Pro ) tips & tricks. I'm 22yrs out of the Canadian army and using your channel too re-up ! my skills as well as learn new skills and get back into a fighting standard due too these new ( uncertain ) normal times. You are a great instructor Andrew stay calm and teach on ! Cheers my friend.👍
Congrats Andrew, I’m sure you crushed it. We appreciate you sharing your knowledge and skills with us. I’m 61 an definitely off my game from my younger years but I still enjoy my dirt time. When I see your alert pop up for a new video, I always look forward to seeing what you’ll have to share with us! Keep on leading the way…well done sir!
I'm 60 also, and myself and a friend are training. We hope to go there and kick the courses ass! My goal is to be the oldest graduate... As when I was in the army, it was a state of mind!
Thanks for showing us how the sophisticated man about the wilderness relaxes. Fire, smoking pipe and dining on fine cuisine. Congratulations on earning your patch. Wondered where you got off to these past 2 weeks. I bet the other folks in the area were beyond amazed at how you nonchalantly dispatched that deadly serpent. Like something you do every morning before you brush your teeth. How many rattles? Congratulations again on your accomplishment.
@15:00 you explained how you need to push past your “wall” point perfectly! There’s a lot of folks out there that are capable of moving past it but can’t get past their own head! GREAT VIDEO AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE
With all the Politicians saying how they're going to take care of us, I'd like to see them try the beginners course and see how they'd survive. Me,, I want to try and do all three but over a period of time. Do the first and pass and then rest and recuperate for about 6 months or so till I felt ready for the Intermediate course, same down time and then the final Advanced course. Doing these is a good way to get a mind set on life. Thanks for a great and informative video. Take care and stay well and safe.
Congratulations on patching the Advanced course Andrew! I completed the Basic in April, taking the Intermediate in June and scheduled for the Advanced in September. Appreciate the review and tips. Solid advice!
An Army Chaplain told me once, " Military will mold you, but you get to choose the mold." The same with our pathways; choose CHALLENGE, and at the end of day, you've chosen the mold. My Dad, USMC General, said to me 8 miles from base, LeJeune; "Get stronger" This is the point of the sword. Thanks Andrew 👍 Ooorah
Congratulations on passing the course. Good review too; I believe you told enough to prepare for and not too much about the course. I’m glad you made it through.
Ego will kill you faster than ignorance. Knowing when to give up leadership if someone else is more capable, or knowing when to be taught and be open to it, is an ability not enough folks exercise. Sharing this info about the course will be most helpful to those with the desire to accomplish it, and expressing paradox of ability/doing will humble those who wish to take the advice.
First and foremost congratulations on attaining the Advanced Level and earning your patch. I always enjoy watching and learning from these UA-cam channels. I realize the importance of having the necessary equipment/gear and for it to be of good quality. As an added topic of equipment/gear that seems to never be mentioned or neglected is the gear that one wears, hat, shirt jacket/coat pants, and good quality boots. I'd like to see your insights on those... Again congrats and keep it up.
After working almost all day in my attic repairing my HVAC unit, with outside temp of 91 plus degrees , this was most definitely the best part of the day, makes me want to run outside and chase down a copper head to go with my Snickers bar and Guinness, oh and congrats on the patch. Cheers bro !! RLTW Guy Speight
Congratulations..definitely an accomplishment. And congratulations to your teammates Dustin and Paul couple of great guys. Dustin was in my Basic class and Paul was my instructor.
First... Thank you for your service to our country. I really like your channel. Totally informative, no B.S. one thing that I think should be stressed is the proper way to wear a backpack/rucksack. I've seen so many carried low on their back and compain about a sore back and legs after only a short mile or so. I, too, have served and taught my brothers, cousins, friends the importance of carrying necessary but minimal items. But also being very familiar with their use. I have also taught ''on-the-spot improvisation''. Learning these things can be the difference between coming home from a great adventure, or not at all. I instructed a friend at work on what to carry on a one day hunt. One day became three when a blizzard hit. He was only a mile and a half from home in a white-out and the extra few items he carried saved his life. When he told me what happened, I wait ''it's like insurance; good to have but hope you never need it.'' Thank you for a great channel. ''HOOAH''!
Like CC says in boot, get your $&%+ together in one sock. Andrew you nailed it. Congratulations on that patch. Canterbury doesn't seem to pull any punches.
👍👍👍 Good Intel brother! It's mind over matter! You must Improvise adapt and overcome! If you have faith in yourself you can achieve anything! Utilize the 40% rule and never give up or let doubt come into your mind! BBQ snake over those hot coals ain't bad! A couple of bullion cubes and a hand full of rice would make a good snake soup! The hungry wolf will eat just about anything to survive! Stay frosty and Simper Fi!
Wow. No idea how hard it was to get the advanced patch. I had the opportunity to earn my basic patch in 2017. Awesome experience. I cannot recommend it enough.
Thank you for this video I have been curious about all three classes and have not seen a post video for the third class. Loved it! Thank you for all of your videos I enjoy them all!!!
Congrats on the Patch Capt. Id need to be 30 yrs younger to even think abt doing that kind of training again. I try to keep my skill levels up to a usable level by watching you and practicing. Keep the info coming. Tman

I've lived a minimalist, self reliant, solitary, off grid life for quite some years now. Hunted, fished, and forage for a majority of my food. I learn something new everyday.

I like that saying. I actually have my own version. Anyone who says they know everything is about to prove themselves stupid.
You still got the internet though? So how off grid do you mean? ----------> Just kidding ! Do trolls still exist??
I "think" I would like off grid living but like my "comfort zone" too much.... :)
Words all men should live by.
Awesome video brother. Found my way here from Corporal’s Corner. Made sure I subscribed and turned on notifications. Keep on keepin on! 🤙🏻
As a former Ranger for 20 years from 73-93 I’m glad that someone who’s done that and been there teach skills rather then someone who just read a book
I particularly liked your comment, “when you win a reward make sure you share it with your team mates” you’re a good man, congrats.
I have not done this since I was in the Marines along time ago but I also be live every one should have these skills. I am now 62 years old and still enjoy my dirt time as I call it when I go hunting and fishing also hiking and do bush craft whenever possible so please keep up the good work.

I’m sure the Army already has you instructing. Probably an evaluator too.
I second this. I just found this channel and will say, you have the on camera charisma needed for these things. Keep it up
I could never do all the exercise you people do, bur I but I would survive. Patches mean nothing to me, bit there is always something new to learn. No adventure is ever the same.
Snake is a fine meal. And rattlers can be big enough to make it count.
One less rattlesnake to worry about...

Okay General Mac Arthur, enjoy that pipe. 😃 Thanks for the video!
Congratulations Andrew !! Thank You for leading the way.. 🇺🇸⚕️
Great job Andrew and congratulations on your patch. Survival isn't so much a race as it is an endurance for skills, mental fortitude and luck anyone can do it but not all can.

Asked for feedback so: Again the best of the best when it comes to learning about survival and insights here on UA-cam. Straight 10/10.

Very cool! Wanna get there myself. I'm starting from the beginning. Looking forward to the learning curve. Great review. Congrats!
Got taught most of this stuff minus the hunting at my church pathfinder club. Was in it for years and years as a student and teacher. Backpacking In all weathers even cold blizzard with high winds make you feel alive
I've taken to hiking with my pack nowadays. I went a bit nuts during the coof cough in 2020 and picked up quite a few of the items you've listed. I'm 44 and the young Marine I was ain't around anymore, but I can still keep up a good pace. Thanks for the great videos.
Congratulations again. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge and experience! What's next?
Congrats thats a very prestigious accomplishment, always love the content and can't wait for the next one.
Congrats and well done !
There is one more item I'd like to bring in my kit ..... A Ranger !! 😉
