In the last example - wouldn't the Advertised Distance be from E? I would have expected the AD to be 3000 rather than 5000? Cheers

Infact Advertised Distance is from Neighbour router to Destination router so D would be neighbour of router A for path ADEF so AD would be 2000+3000=5000.(Hoping this will help out.)
