Hi does the lever need to be in a certain possition to remove the valve housing? I unscrewed six bolts and i can not get the housing removed. Any ideas? Cheers Rudy
Hmm... Its been awhile now since I did that repair now so I've forgotten all the details. I'm pretty sure that it doesn't matter where your lever is. I think you just disconnect the bolts and give it a smack with a rubber mallet as I recall and the whole assembly should slide out torward the engine
Farmer Tom they wouldn't stay up clutch in or out. Turns out the last person to work on it put the piston seal in backwards and I didn't notice it right away
1944johndeerel when its all sitting on the bench and ur piston is next to a big bolt head. Thats where my hydraulics are hooked up but it inly works when the lever is up. I want all time pressure so i can relocate my loader hydraulics to a 2 spool valve so i can get down force on the loader and install a ram on the bucket. Right now its just a pull lever to dump . PITA
I would have to look in my books to see what it says. I removed all the jerry rigged auxiliary hydraulics from this tractor when I bought it so it currently doesn't have any auxiliary remotes set up
wreckandraceify because this tractor has Live pto but the hydraulics aren't truly live. The pump is down between the bull gears in the rear of the tractor and runs off the PTO. In other words the PTO must be spinning to have any hydraulics on this particular tractor
@@wreckandraceify some fordson majors had an add on PTO gear engage lever for the PTO from the factory. I'm told they are a bit rare though. I'm not sure as I am still learning about the majors.
Got to love that unmistakable injection pump coupler rattle.!!!
Thank you, really helpful
Good information

Did you find that when you put the clutch in the link arms would go down before the repair?

0.41 In Ag mechanics college in the UK what you call the 'dog bone' we called the 'Donkey's Dick'
In Shropshire, mid Wales the old gimmers also call it the donkeys thing
Ya wee beauty!
glad ya got her figured out
did your pto shaft stopped turning too?
That spot you said that is for adding aux hydraulics. is that all the time flow or still only with the handle?
Obviously PTO/pump ON
mechanical stuff honestly I'm not positive. The lift lever was locked up when I bought the tractor
1944johndeerel whered u get that seal kit? My handle is leaking too

1944johndeerel I'm in process of of ordering ther service manuals too. Thanks for looking
she sounds beautiful.
Hey How are you?
Please could you tell me where I can buy that cylinder seal? Thanks!!
I think I got it on ebay... it was 4 years ago I really don't recall
I need your blade.... I cant believe how hard it is to find an affordable used one around me that is in usable shape.
That piston seal was on backwards
Clean your equipment, also I would rebuild that whole rear end. The whole thing leaks.
How come the PTO was running?

1944johndeerel I understand. Thank you very much for explaining.
