Haha, when Anand’s wife said that he should go play (and meant the opposite), Anand replied with the top engine move (pretended he did not understand and thanked her for the love and support)
Depth 50😂
😂😂😂
And it was at this point that Anand's wife resigned herself to spending her birthday without him as there was nothing more to be done.
even when the position was a lost one, he made the best move
Nice wordplay there with "engine" xD
“Let me see exactly much time he spent”
“Not a lot”
I like to be precise in my presentations :)
Haha... I was expecting an exact time but when he didn't mention it my mind also skipped it!
Picked up very nicely @nosetalgia5450
I got a chance to talk with Anand at Wijk Aan Zee during the Corus (Tata/Hoogovens) chess tournament. What a nice guy. I told him I was a fan and he took the time to chat with me, signed my book and posed for a picture. It was all very genuine. He has been a force on the world chess scene for several decades now.
I have attended two of his graphy courses. It was indeed a serious effort from his side.
Still at #11 at the time of this writing, Anand is the only player in the top 100 who was born in the 60s.
Michael Adams is the only other person in the top 100 born 2 years after Anand (1971), and he's world #55.
I think Judith is another one !!
He is a legend for prioritising chess over the 50th birthday of his wife... though he may end up in a deep dark forest when he gets back to India.
Sleepinthecar gambit😂
LOL
To get over that, his bishop will really have to be fully operational for some time.
@@dilejjja lol
This is why he posted his tribute to Twitter 😂😂
I see Anand, i click.
Seeing is clicking
You rub what?
Ditto
@@natureboyxFrom the movie Ghost lol😂
I see any video , I click 😊
Winning tournaments even in his age is something i would only expect from Anand
Well, it wasn't that much of a tournament! There were only for players, one of them, Topalov, is about as old as Anand! Given Arjun was also playing, it is of course an achievement of Anand, but one that has to put in perspective!
@@BillHimmel doesn't negate my point, Anand is still capable of winning tournaments If he really puts his mind into it.
@@blackman7186 It's not a very competitive nor taxing tournament. Anand is a great player, but this isn't much of an achievement. He is stronger than all the other players by a lot, if he didn't win it'd be a huge upset.
@@zxbc1erigaisi Is fourth in classical chess...
@@gaara888ful Erigaisi's rating is greatly inflated. He only participates in low rating tournaments and beat on low rating opponents, especially recently. Look at his tournament record in 2023 and 2024. He almost never participates in any tournament that involves 2700+ super GMs, so imo his "real" rating is at best 2700 maybe closer to the 2600s. The fact that he lost to Anand this time is actually quite the proof that his rating is inflated.
Vishy Anand
Some facts
1. He is 54yrs old. The next most aged GM in top 25 Rapid ranking is Kramnik, aged 49
2. Anand is ranked 6th in Live ratings in Rapid
3. In top 10 list, average age of GMs are 34 yrs
4. In top 15 list, average age of GMs are 32 yrs
5. In top 20 list, average age of GMs are 31 yrs
6. Despite being semi active in current chess, he is ahead of DUDA, MVL, HIKARU, CARUANA, ABDUSATTOROV, ALIREZA, SO, DUBOV, PRAGG to name a few, in Rapid
7. He became a GM almost 36 yrs back
8. He has evolved from the time of Over Board Chess to the time of Online Chess
He's also VP of FIDE ... that a lot of hardwork and networking that goes behind the scenes
Do you mean he is ahead of them in titles, or in FIDE ratings? Because im pretty sure that Prag and Hikaru are ahead of Anand
@@azizhajsalem2586 I think he’s referring to rapid
@@azizhajsalem2586 fide rating in Rapid
Another fact is his nickname back in the hayday was "lightning kid", referring to his numerous wins against top GMs of the time in classic time format with using only minutes of his own clock
this man is 54 years old yet the sheer fluidity of his play, the confidence in his moves is ridiculous!
I mean, you're pretty mentally handicapped at that point, so it's quite impressive.
I will be meeting Mr Anand for 40 minutes, to moderate a one on one Q&A session with him, on 15 July. Pretty excited as well as nervous about it.
For Jaime Santos Latasa, you got it right except for the Jaime part. In spanish, the a vowel always sounds like "ah" and the i vowel always sounda like a double e in english. Together, they mayke an "I" sound like in the word "Hi". The e in spanish is also always prononunced as "eh". Lastely, the J always sounds like an english H (again, like in "Hi") So, his name is read "Hi-meh"
No harm btw! Hope it helps!
agadmators undersatnding of women is gm level, unmatched amongst chess players
"Of course your board game is more important than my 50th birthday, Vishy! I'll be fine, just go : ) "
"Anand didn't realise what his wife said." 🤣
Agad was my childhood chess youtuber. I love agad. He’s better than everyone else
You basically taught me how to play chess
"For those of you were able to do it Congratulations " - Best line in Chess Channel.
also "As there is nothing more to be done here."
also “To avoid nasty discoveries”
also the legend "Captures captures captures"
"That's why we enjoy chess...this move right here!" Beautiful quote, sir!
Anand won Leon Masters with Style & Panache.
He could have won it any which way, but these days Anand is playing to the galleries. He is trying to leave behind a legacy for generations to marvel upon.
I'm not a GM but I know that when my wife says, "you should go", it's a trap.
Anand seems to be still playing at the highest level. Kramnik, Kasparov, and Topalov seem to be in decline. These were the Big 4 at their primes back in the day.
True
Kramnik has definitely acceded to next level of chess that is INSANITY . He is now of Fisher and Murphy's sanity level.
I know Kramnik is a hot topic right now, but I haven't really seen that much of a decline in his chess abilities. It's just that he hasn't adapted to the intricacies of online chess, and seems to be going through some kind of mid-life crisis. I hope the best for him when someone finally gets him away from the online world and he can enjoy his life away from Chess
Kramnik is still playing at a very high level, he just doesn't play a lot anymore and went to the other side of chess and started doing crazy conspiracies. Judging by some of his online performance I'd say he is pretty close to Anand if they played in a real OTB tournament.
Kasparov would be better than Anand had he kept playing as much as Anand has.
Anand is a legend playing chess on his wifes birthday... i wouldn't have dared if my wife had said: then go play with your friends😂🎉
Hey Antonio thanks for all the great content over the years.
I had a favor to ask could you make a currated playlist of 100 games you think every chess fan should see?
Hopefully drawing from all eras of chess.
I am sure you already have made many vids of the games you would include in such a list.
I just think it is enjoyable to watch playlists of chess to fall asleep.
Just a thought...hope you are well and have a nice day
Anand may think deeper in chess but Agad is better at understanding women's thoughts.
And he sacrificed the anniversary...
With $50K he has pretty good compensation, the position is equal, even winning for white.
How to pronounce Jaime: all 5 vowels in Spanish (a, e, i, o, u) work in the same way as in Croatian, each one has it's own one sound and they actually have the same sound as in Croatian, so that's easy. The M is also the same in Spanish and Croatian, so that's easy as well. The different one is the J that in Spanish is pronounced like what could be a "harder G" sound in Croatian. But nobody will complain if you pronounce it like an English J haha #VastKnowledge
By thanking her for love and support, he is forgiven. Winning also helped a little.
Hopefully he gets a nice trophy that he can give her when he gets back home
And with $50K he has pretty good compensation.
What a calculaction by Anand seeing all these varation so earlier!!👌👌👍👍🙏
Excellent pronunciation of Vishwanathan Anand by Agadmator
Except for the "th". Should be a "t" combined with a exhaled breath.
Hi Antonio. I wanted to thank you for your wonderful videos. I love how you break down the game, analyze various lines, and your voice is very calming and helps me fall comfortably to sleep.
Anand is one of the most underrated players of all time ..
What a true legend !
''Checkmating a wonderful day'' is only possible when by ''checkmating'' you understand ''bringing gome''.
11:05 Yep 😂
Jaime is a Spanish name (of course) and is pronounced 'HI may'.
Estaba pensado como expresarlo y lo has clavado
#pronunctiation
Met him at Dubai airport. He was waiting to board his flight to Chennai. I wished him and he took time to exchange pleasantries. A great guy.
As often - The brilliant move was the first one I thought about, but I had no idea how it could possibly win the game! Anand did however.
brilliant and super cool under pressure
That bishop allowed Anand to become fully operational
I've learned so much from your videos and it has helped me become a more confident trader. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
Pure legend - I am pretty sure he'll still be in the top 10 for the next 10 years at least - Unless his wife was being sarcastic and asks him to resign right now!
Hey love the content, since you asked for it, Jaime is pronounced, using the IPA, "xaime" I believe, so that something like Ha-e-me, Ha as in harmful but a little more guttural, e as in the letter, and me as in merit.
In Spanish for Jaime, the "J" is similar to a "H" sound but a little bit stronger (unless you're from inland Spain 😆). The vocals "ai" are like the letter "i" in English and "me" is pronounced "m+eh". The stress is on the same syllable as for English.
11:05 agad be like checkmate to a wonderful video
@Vishwanathan_Anand for Bharat Ratna ❤🙏👍
Anand is Gangsta
Anand’s greatest feat of calculation was accepting his wife’s encouragement to play on her birthday.
Such a beautiful quote 😊
At 54 Vishy Anand is beating top rated players who are much younger than him! Truly phenomenal.A great legend.Anand is loved for his great chess as well for his humility and integrity.A fabulous role model for youngsters and a great ambassador for chess.
Beautiful quote..
Anand always impressive
Hi Antonio, love your videos, keep them up! As you asked for names pronunciation, in Spanish the "J" sounds like the english "h", so "Jai" is like the english "hi". The "me" is just like in "men" (but without the "n"). Hope it helps to pronounce "Jaime" in the future correctly! :)
Anand sacrificing the queen.
Why do the clocks starts at 20:18?
Anand a real master of chess
At 9:55, could Jaime have gotten a perpetual (or better) with rook to H1? With each line that I play out, he either ends up with a perpetual or up a rook.
How? Rh1 Kf2 Rf4 check Rf3 defends and that's it. There's no more checks. Black can take Re1 but king recaptures and the other rook is defended by the pawn
THANK YOU for replying!!!
Right but then Re1 takes white's rook so Ke1 takes black's rook, then Re3 check and the game is drawable, no?
People like Prag, Erigaisi & Gukesh respects their Anand Sir for a reason....😂❤
Agad: Hello Everyone, Me: Yes, that's good stuff right there
I’m surprised Jaime didn’t play Rg2+ when the king was on g1 and the Black Bishop on c6 at least he would’ve gotten the draw I guess capturing the Bishop on h4 was a more ‘natural’ human move those passed pawns were scary great defense by Anand nice win Great game Thanks Agadmator
8:10 could g3, bxg2 then rook to h1 be a way to checkmate white?
5:38 - a very unnatural move. Bxc5 is the most obvious.
Bh4 - what a brilliant move.
Wining tournament at this age shows how good really anand is no wonder he is 5 times world champ
I always had a feeling and now this game confirms it.... Anand in not human.
bh4... what sorcery is this?
Can someone help me here, why would king go G3 and walk into another check after pawn takes bishop on h4 and then lose the knight the next move? Wouldn’t it make more sense for the king to move to say, f2? That way if you do get checked again you can just move your king out of the way and save your knight on the next move….am I missing something?
To take the g4 pawn. Eliminating 3 connecting passed pawn is more important than saving a knight
@agadmator, to satisfy your thirst for knowledge: Jaime is pronounced as ha-ee-meh, where the first to syllables are pronounced in one go and with a bit more emphasis than the last.
Just beautiful
I saw the saving line for black however I am not sure what to play after Kg1 instead of Kg3.
Kg1 my calculations were gxh4 Nf5 g3 and I think this should lead to a draw with white sacking the Knight for 2 pawns.
Yeha baby babu ko chhodti hi ni hai😊well played Aanand sir
Anand is one of the absolute legends .. one of the goats in my humble opinion.. 5 time world champion only to lose to none other than Magnooos. Top 5 all time imho 🙏
Let’s Celebrate A Master, A Legend…Class is Permanent. Vishy 🎉🎉
I've been playing chess on Facebook through an app called Chess Royale. I get the impression the players there are not great. Where is a good place to play?
why do the clocks start at 20:18?
You start at 20 but get Increment
As slippery as an eel and as smart as a fox
For Bh4 would like to watch again but later ❤. Thanks.
Watched in sleepy mode after dinner so to revisit must for better understanding.
Anand plays with nerves of steel in this match.
8:30 it is not clear why the white king goes up, allowing blacks to capture the bishop with check, then the knight.
If the king goes down, blacks can't capture both bishop and knight.
Love your channel. But i don’t get it when you say completly new game in opening. How come that 8 or 10 moves never have been played in the long history of chess ? Can you please explain :)) thanks!
Like a BOSS!!!!🌟✴🌟✴
Ruy Lopez variation of the Sicilian Defence by Agadmator 🙌
#suggestion
Game 3 and 4 of the Arjun vs Jaime semifinals were both good as well
games with time stamps along side them are more fun to watch, from now on keep them on :)
Vishwanathan is Tal
If I got Anand as my coach! bh4 Such a deep brilliant move!
If Vishy wanted to, he would still be in the top 5 every year.
the pause the video moment is a plachuta move
The pawn capture on G2 by rook to hold the game is such a non-human move. It looks like it loses or at least gives up a possible advantage
age is also big factor in chess....you should mention their ages along with the names and pictures
Who was opponenet. Rubal vs rupee.
Agadmator - why is your name spelt with a Lower case "a" for your UA-cam channel. It deserves a capital.
I didn’t even noticed, my brain automatically capitalised it 😅
Vishy the G.O.A.T and always will be a legend ❤🔥💯
1:10 i am 800 but ruy lopez sir ?
This is the stuff : Cutting the rooks off is the lesson here, and we see that it is most useful, in many a game.
اناند الاسطورة ❤
never in any universe would i have played that bishop move.
Both players took exactly 28 secs for those moves...
9:04 Jaime probably saw the best line but it led to a draw and he had to win this game
Am I the only one who heard "Rook to Ivanchuk" at 9:38?
Yes you are the only one
Hello Agad, when u say player A played against player B in so and so place or so and so tournament in so and so year...
my 2 q:
how many games normally a player remembers?
how many moves similarly they remember / recall?
(though my q is hypothetical, just to get an idea. :) )
Kuddos to Anand for finding the move over the board
I saw Bh4 but I thought it wouldn't work. There is no way in hell I would have found that in a million years
Seeing as the "Santos" name is apparently Hispanic, Spanish phonetics are pretty easy. I'd venture Ha-ee-may (with the "a" in "Ha" having the sound of a short "o").
