The lead dancer represents Kali, who among other aspects is a protective force for the innocent. She wears the heads of the perpetrators of violence to innocents and is a very powerful visual to accompany the music and lyrics. Bloodywood is also specifically targeting the rape culture in India. Such a powerful group of fearless individuals.
What BS. There is no rape culture in India. Yeah, there have been a couple of highly publicized cases of Western women getting raped, but totally false that there is a rape culture. Were do you get this shit from anyway?
Metal has always dealt with difficult topics. It's always bothered me that so many dismiss it as noise because there is a lot of phenomenal things in the genre.
TBH any Therapist will never understand metal because their teachings won't allow it, only a therapist who was a metalhead to start with could ever understand, Therapists to this day often fight metal as a form of therapy because they don't understand how helpful it is to us who it calms down.
One of my childhood teachers was convinced Metallica was with Satan 😂

To quote Freedom Calling "Metal Is For Everyone". It's such a good song, but yes, metal is something special. The roughness helps to express all those dark, hidden feelings buried deep inside, it's music to vent feelings.
The first time I watched this video and heard Kali (the blue Indian goddess) I literally sobbed. It was so beautiful how strong her voice and dance was.
It is a pretty intense song, and one that leaves even a veteran metalhead a bit winded and feeling rattled. As it should considering the topic.
Most of their songs are not quite this intense, but pretty much all of them cover emotional topics with a positive undertone. That's one part why they have built such a following. The other part is that they kick ass 🤘🤘

Another good one from them for me is Jee Veerey a song about mental illness and depression and it also shows off more of their folk side as well as being one of their older songs where they always have a message at the end of the video really showing who they are as people with what they do.
Aaj is also pretty good.
This is one of my favourite Bloodywood songs, I agree to a large extent with the sentiment of the song (though I am not normally a violent man) Bloodywood are a real one of because they mix their culture with East Coast Rap and Heavy Metal, Raoul is the rapper/english singer, Karan is the Guitarist and Jayant sings in Hindi/Punjabi and does the growls, these 3 are the core of the band. The dancer painted blue represents Kali who amongst many things is the image of retribution.
Other songs you need to watch/hear are Aaj, Yaad, Gaddarr and Jee Veerey
They take on Mental health, political trechary and many other issues head on and are not afraid to back up the feelings with actions

And the actions being: sharing the money they raise for online counceling sessions (that still go on because people keep donating) to buying an animal ambulance.. phenomenal and truly inspiring.
oh please add Ari Ari to that list, it's probably the best intro to this band from what ever you're coming from
Bloodywood is a good example of how widespread Metal has become. India is not a metal stronghold, but with a population of 1.4 billion there are a lot of good bands. They are no worse than the European and American bands. What they lack is the support in their own country. In order to catch on overseas they have to be better than the local bands and only Bloodywood has managed to do that so far. Bands outside of the US and Europe have to bring their own culture to metal to stand out and they do.

absolutely agree. Most of the indian families doesn't even consider music a viable career choice. bootstrapped, lack of opportunities, lack of mass appeal (bollywood music rules indian music scene). But now it's changing and personally try to support local music scene regardless of genre as long as it's floats my boat. much power to bloodywood and all those bands who never got a chance.
Bloodywood is a visceral experience. I've been listening to metal with harsh vocals for a lifetime and their song Jee Veerey was the first time I felt that harsh vocals were the only way to say some of that. The way he roars loha (forged) at the end the phrase only after surviving the fire is iron forged makes me cry every time I hear it. The song is about mental illness and suicide. I don't have good words to describe a feeling, that defiant scream of pain survived is the only thing that describes it for me.
I condone their message. We need more like it.
I want to put a shout out. One is I own their CD. It is definitely worth owning. Second I believe there still may be a you tube video documentary how they went from finalizing their band and releasing a video. Never performing live together to touring Europe and finishing the four performing live it Wacken. My son has Cerebral palsy and when they took a wheelchair bound brother and lifted him up on the stage and performed the concert with him there.THEY moved me. I wept tears of joy!

Metal has always been cathartic for me. A positive release for negativity. So are mosh pits once you see it not a group fight... It's Bumper People! I miss keeping my elbow up, making eye contact, and you both understand: charge only to get blasted from the side halfway there. My favorite was seeing someone knocked and protect them while standing them up to keep going. Ahhhh. Love it. Spiral out! Keep going!

That is one Heavy entry to Bloodywood, hope you will be willing to check out other songs by them. As mentioned by others most tracks are not this Heavy/Intense. All their songs are about important subjects and all videos are top notch, you can't go wrong.

There is so much positivity and empowering in Metal, even the extreme Genres are about catharsis, venting emotions in a healthy way, and over all so much musical genius and Skill, that it still sometimes bother me that people dismiss Metal so easily as noise and "demonic".

Amazing song and amazing reaction
A lot of people try to claim metal isn't political, but anyone who says that doesn't actually understand metal.
Especially Extreme Metal as all Extreme Metal (Thrash Metal, Black Metal, Death Metal, Groove Metal, Sludge Metal, Grindcore, etc.) are all various combinations of old-school Heavy Metal (Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Thor, etc.) and Punk Rock (usually late 70's and early 80's Hardcore Punk specifically). And Punk is always socially conscious and political.
Metal is deeply political and often times bands strongly disagree with eachother and more often than not bands tour with other bands who agree with them on something, not just musically.
Nice reaction. Bloodywood belongs to the world.
You sure had to jump off the deep end with these guys, as it's them at their most intense. They don't shy away from anything, as you can see, and they find ways to get the message through, sometimes at such intense, rhythmic, very visceral level, and sometimes more melodically and emotionally. Given your interest in psychology, I suspect you might really connect with Jee Veerey - another serious subject matter, but very different approach - powerful lyrics, crazy melodic, even more obviously infused with the folk elements. And Aaj might be the best of them all, song-wise - uplifting, albeit more general lyrics, put to absolutely irresistable musical elements... Hope this is not the last time you check them out, definitely worth a dive.

I've listened to so many different break-downs of tis track 4rm so many different vocal experts n analytics but they never got the actual very essence of wat they r screaming into ur brain n wat they r actually all about till i came across tis ... Awesome take on the song. Gotta love the fusion of folk and nu metal in their music. All these reaction channels could learn a thing or two from you. For me, metal or rock music is pure energy and it tugs at my emotions alright. Fires me up when I'm feeling down. There's something about it that keeps you on edge and yes, it ain't for the faint-hearted but it's the one brand of music aside from orchestral music that fuses elements of two extremes as if it were a manifestation of yin and yang.

Just discovered these guys and they are truly amazing! I hope they make it big big
I saw them live twice now and their live show is just full of energy and power! I also had the chance to have a little chat with them after a show and they are so nice and kind. They took so much time vor everyone in line to talk to and take photos. "Dana Dan" is one of my favourites togehter with "Jee Veerey" and "Yaad".
Interesting tidbit, the dancer who is painted blue, represents the goddess Kali, who among several other things represents righteous vengeance and Death. In India sadly the culture around sexual assault is even more problematic than it is in the west (because it is fucking pervasive and problematic here too), the many protests against sexual assault this in the last 5 years use Kali as symbol for their cause. Which the band obviously also fully embraces. I like that this is an important EVERYWHERE, but at the same time it is a very relevant topic in their own country, to me that is some superb songwriting.
This band is awesome. Great to see you reacting to it. Their style of music is quite passionate and i would say to the message of this song, I believe them. The heaviness and aggression leaves no doubt they will do the things they say in the song.
I listen to metal a lot and this song that i've now heard I don't know how many times today (for the first day) brings tears to my eyes every time.

This band is absolutely dope and this is by far their heaviest track because it's the heaviest subject. Which is common in metal, to match the style to the point.
Folk metal is distinguished by using not only traditional instruments & clothing elements, but dealing with issues that are relevant to ordinary people (folk) in that culture, including eternal themes from the deep past.
13:50 the social ills arising out of most societies under stress do indeed need more open discussion, and there can't be too many different cultures under stress opening up, because they all have different things to tell us about how hard it is to be human.

Fantastic reaction. I'm so excited to wander through your catalogue. I had heard (and loved) this song before but this was my first time watching a reaction to it. I might (definitely) have cried but I really appreciated your commentary. The "Not every man? Yes every man. We need every Man..." verse is so impactful, particularly from a band who are not native English speakers. The number of "not all men" comments I've seen on posts online meant to highlight disparity or sexism or abuse is infuriating. This isn't about you dude, no one is calling you a cat caller or misogynist or rapist. No need to jump in and make sure your voice is heard if all you have to add is "well I don't do that, I think you owe me an apology for not specifying that I am not part of the problem." Fuck. That makes me so mad every time.

I'm not Indian, but from what I have been told dana dan is an onomatopoeia for the sound a drum makes and also slang for a savage beating. It's like saying someone beat you like a drum.

Metal Empowers us who were abused, as a rape victim Metal saved me then I studied psychology which helped me more and fevered my metalhead beliefs, I introduced that to my now ex wife, it helped her until she got someone like you who demanded me to join her for issues she suffered, Our sufferings were diff. I didn't want a part because I feared if I learned the full truth I may have wanted to kill her Father to point I couldn't control once I seen him again. she wanted to forgive him so I did begrudgingly but through a Psycho Therapist I doubt I could.
My now ex wife refused to say she needed me there so I never thought I was needed, had I been told she needed me I would join for her sake but her Psycho therapist would have went against me because at said time I could play their tricks against them that they would force on me.
Her Therapist never tried to cure the issue she had with her dad raping her but instead tried to make up reasons to accept it and blame it on others.
She became my ex wife because of these issues her therapist and her far left extremist friends pushed, now she lives with people who are more right leaning than me, if her family and religious Cult of Mormons knew everything, well she would be kicked out of religion and maybe even her own family, instead I was willing to take blame cause her Fake Mormon family despised I wasn't Mormon.
I despise many christian religions because in reality they are Satanic not Christian hence why my Name is DeMoNiC.

I have been thinking a lot about this song for quite some time -- particularly from a moral or ethical view. And I come to the conclusion that first, attention does need to be brought to this. The apathetic acceptance of this needs to change. As Edmund Burke once said, "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph in the world is for good men to do nothing." I've taken to add a quote from a Magic: the Gathering card as well to that as a corollary: "I hold those who commit evil, and those who do nothing to stop it, equally in contempt."
That being said, first, if I were to ever come across anyone committing r**e or SA, I would do what I could to stop the act. And I think most people would. On the other hand, there is the risk, as we've seen, where someone can say or do something where they don't have all the facts, they form a mob, and then go out and commit vigilantism. And that can be just as bad, as people who act as a vigilante may not have the control necessary to stop, once they begin, and they can also target someone who is completely innocent. Even in the 1800s, this was something that was more common than people thought (As a reference, watch the movie Gangs of New York. It shows vigilante behavior towards the end of the movie.)
And while I understand the need to dispense justice, there is a difference between justice and vengeance -- one that I know very, very well. I know that feeling that because someone caused you pain, you feel the need to cause an equal amount of pain to the person that hurt you. And causing that pain isn't justice, that's vengeance. Justice is objective, it is impartial. Vengeance is subjective, and it is personal. Many people would, I think, if they could exact vengeance upon someone that caused them pain, would use vengeance as a carte blanche means to go much further than the degree of pain caused them. This is why in many cultures, the scale is the object used to determine justice, because the punishment must fit the crime. Otherwise, vengeance becomes unjust. This is also why, even for r**ists and other criminals, due process is so important. This is why the presumption of innocence over guilt is so important. Do I want criminals, especially those who commit heinous crimes, punished? Most certainly yes. But I also do not want innocent people punished for something they did not do. And I think, especially in the age of the internet, people too often hear or see something that riles them up, and then they go commit other crimes in retaliation for something they were never a part of. This happened with Michael Brown in 2014, and then happened with George Floyd in 2020. In both cases, mobs got formed, and then went on a destructive spree of vengeance and destroyed buildings and businesses that had nothing to do with the act in question. And especially in the case of Michael Brown, the anger and rage at the cop was misplaced, as the narrative surrounding that case was severely pushed by the media -- and during Grand Jury testimony, the facts, evidence, and 6 black witness statements all showed that the media narrative was wrong. Michael Brown did not die because he was unarmed and got shot in the back. He died because he was fighting with Officer Darren Wilson over his service weapon, while Wilson was still in his cruiser. A shot richocheted off the cruiser's A-pillar (the part of the car that has the edge of the windshield and is an angle the door of the car follows to firm a proper weathertight seal). The bullet then killed Michael Brown by entering the top of his head. All of this was based on ballistics and autopsy reporting by the M.E. Yet, the narrative pushed was, "Hahds Up, Don't Shoot," and Ferguson, Missouri burned for at least two weeks.
I say all of this because this subject is so raw, emotionally, and so visceral. Does it need to be stopped, these acts of violence? Yes. But not at the cost where innocent people get hurt. And, every person deserves to have their voice heard, even the criminals, at their trial in court. And if the facts are clear, the evidence is beyond a clear and convincing standard, then punishment for these crimes needs to be to the fullest extent of the law. Only then can we say we live in a just society.

Great song and it's nice too see someone grab a tough message to talk about and just rip the band aid off even if it probably makes some guys very uncomfortable to be confronted with such an aggressive pushback against their crimes. I'm ok with them feeling a bit of discomfort, for once.
The song is about the incipient rape culture that still exists in parts of India, perpetuated by the elder generations. Bloodywood are the younger generation who see that this sort of thing has no place in society and are fighting back.
I want them to bump into that Bald And Bankrupt youtuber in some back alley

More Bloodywood! I love this band and I know there's a way to go about requesting songs but I'm just a poor psychology student who is heavily in debt. Not expecting you to do a react but I think you'll find them interesting. If you check out their song "Endurant" read the first couple of comments, which are written by clinical therapists thanking them for the message they're conveying. And then there's "Jee Veeray", which is about suicide but is full of hope. People got tattoos of the lyrics to that song because it meant so much to them.
Listen to Yaad and watch the scenes after. Bloodywood are all about good causes.

if you like anything folky or inspired by local cultures, check out Alien Weaponry. They a metal band from New Zealand singing in the Maori. If I got it correctly, they started in high school when they were maybe 15-17 or something, and they're fucking great.

i know im late to this video and you may know this by now but in india its a big issue with SA. there are some people trying to change that but its similar to japan. its very sad but im thankful for groups like bloodywood who are saying they are having enough with it.

You should check out more indian folk metal bands. Check out the band Dymbur, their song called Back Home. This band writes song on heavy subject matter, the song 'Back home' talks about Child prostitution, human rights etc.
They also have other sensitive subject matter songs called 'Rape Culture' & 'Child Abuse'

Bloodywood is a fantastic band! I like them more every time I heard them. BTW the Metal+Rap if I remember right is called New Metal. It's not unique to BW. If you are doing a world tour, I'd suggest an extended stay in Japan. Their must be something in the water because they have so many fantastic musicians! Especially in rock, hard rock and metal. I'd highly recommend Band-Maid (Domination live), Glim Spanky (Don't need a signal), Lovebites (Judgement Day), Ado (Tot Musica).
