Seeing this the first time in my mid teens, it was one of my first devilish female / revenge films. When I heard my mom say ' it's a wild ride of a movie!) well, she wasn't far off! Unfortunately, that was 1992, now original story lines are long gone, overall. The vengeful methods in this film began rather subtly, but you didn't want to loose track of Peyton for long, you'd regret it! Some other antics are rather cliched for today, but director Curtis Hanson knows how to build his villains with subtly, (but even with me, the River Wild, the subtly didn't work for long) the movies I've seen by him, the slow build ups are part of his trademark. Now with Annabella S and Rebecca De Mornay they both did a good job as hero and villain, I didn't recognize Julianne Moore back then though. The script, the music , almost all of it works. But the R rating was the right one, suggested or not, this movie is Not for kids! So don't say I didn't warn you! Adults only, take the ride...if you wish.
