Introit: O nata lux de lumine (Thomas Tallis)
Psalms: 130, 131
Canticles: Herbert Sumsion in G
Anthem: The Lord is my shepherd (Lennox Berkeley)
Hymn: Sun of my soul
The tonal color that Colin chooses for the Nunc is absolutely gorgeous.......(or the organ scholar!)
Lovely to hear this recording, it brings back memories!! The Jongen at the end was magnificent.
Magnificent!
The Psalms are for the 27th Evening - Psalm 126 to a chant by Henry Walford Davies; 127 by Elvey; 128 also by Sir John Goss; 129 by Thomas Rogers; 130 by James Turle from Henry Purcell and 131 by former Lincoln Lay Clerk John Silverton.
Thank you.
I recognise a few faces in that photo!
WTF? Looks like a railroad station platform they're singing (vested!) at!
+choirboyfromhell1 You're absolutely right - Lincoln railway station, to be precise (or so we're told). We wondered if anyone would notice...
Okay...I'm going to vest up next time I lap heads on an Alco 251.....get the academic hood caught on one of the exhaust strongbacks...
We do know what they were doing! They were singing a work specially commissioned by Philip Marshall for the opening of the newly refurbish central railway station in 1985. There is a radio broadcast by Philip Marshall where he talks about this; which will be uploaded in due course.
It's the Choir under Philip Marshal, in the photo
@Daniel Williams I may well have been replying a while ago outwith spectacles! Apols
