They have to have reservations because they are so crowded. When I grew up nearby in Westminster decades ago, Disneyland wasn't nearly so crowded and you didn't need reservations. Disneyland has almost double the attendance now they did then.

That reservation system... In cases like yours, sometimes you can ask a Guest Services CM if they can flip one of your reservations. Check to the far left of either park entrance and there's a space where you can speak to a CM. It's usually not a huge deal if you have a park hop ticket/pass.
Where’s Michael? A vlog without Michael is like a Disney day without sunshine. Sigh. 😔.
