Loving your easy to understand video. I'm getting one to send audio from my USB C on my gaming laptop to my receiver to get 5.1. Thanks!!
Depending on how hi res the audio is you might want to get the coax version toslink is somewhat limited but so are many real recordings so toslink is probably fine to be honest 😂
Does it works the other way ??? From optical source to usb input ???
Could use a hdmi splitter to get everything out of the phone for high res.
What do you mean everything out of the phone? Doesn't fibre optical /toslink do the job for music? When you said* everything where you referring to video?
Thank you brother 🙏 Gonna use this to go straight to my DSP. 🔥
I was thinking the same for some lossless but he is saying there is some limitations ...
@@TMCHL the 96khz limitation he talked about is with the actual product he used in the video btw. I’m not sure if he is aware as all optical output used to be limited, but it’s not the case These days.
There are much better Digital to Digital Converters out there than the one in this video. Ones that don’t limit the optical output to 96khz (mine can actually go much higher than 24 192khz through the optical) they also can have more connections types.
I personally use the S.M.S.L PO100PRO it’s more expensive at around double the price, but it has an Xmos xu318 processor which supports up 32bit 768khz pcm and DSD512. It converts from usbc port into optical, coaxial and hdmi with I2S mode switching and UAC switching, so it even works on PS5 etc.
It also works with any usbc cable (Including apple otg cables) and supports all operating systems. It draws 5v 1amp power from whatever device it’s plugged into and even an iPhone 13mini (with a proper otg cable) can power it.
It also has MQA support if that means anything to you.
it really works ,tried in my car from an android Phone to Match DSP optical in but somehow the sound quality is not really any better than the CarPlay ,tried Flac file from mobile phone and the same song from Spotify not worth it for me...
Thanks for the idea! I was wondering if using the HDMI splitter (connecting my laptop to active speakers) is going to be better/worse than this method. Will there be any difference?
It depends on the source but in general HDMI is superior.
is there any difference between optical audio cables? to order cheap or more expensive? from aliexpress or if you have link would be great
Amazon basics do a pretty good optical/toslink cable. amzn.to/3Vlymis
What's the brand and name of this product, I will connect my PS5 with Logitech Z906, can I get 5.1 sound afterwards
Its Cubilux amzn.to/3k1wg8J I am not sure if it will get 5.1 sorry?
Honestly you would have a field day with my marantz setup, it has so much tech connected, I already Bluetooth from my samsung to my marantz via toslink to play my hi res flac files via a gadget from China that recieves hi res Bluetooth aptx then the toslink from that into the amp. That way no wires. Pretty good too. P.S. the Marantz cd6007 usb plays hires music anyhow of which I have about 800 flac albums on a hard drive plugged into the Samsung s21 ultra then beam them to my cheap Chinese device via toslink into the marantz amp. Also I have about 10 usb sticks a to z of albums which you plug into the marantz cd 6007 usb player.
Hi Martin, I was thinking maybe you could try and review the S.M.S.L PO100PRO digital to digital converter.
I brought one recently. It’s much better than the one in this video. Although, it’s more expensive at around £45-55, it has a lot more features and none of the restrictions. I think it would make for a great review and a good update to this video.
It uses flagship Xmos XU318 chip and converts into optical, coaxial and HDMI with I2S switching and UAC switching, so it’s pretty universal and works with everything. It supports up to 32bit 768khz PCM and DSD512. The optical output isn’t restricted to 96khz either.
It can also use any usbc cable and is even compatible with apple otg cables. It’s compatible with all devices and is powered by any (5v 1amp) device. It even says something about MQA support even though there’s no DAC chip, it’s purely digital to digital.
I hope you’ll consider it for review, as it could be good for a lot of people and fits the same use case as this video.
All the very best fella!
What a coincidence! I literally had an email from them 2 days ago asking me to review that very DAC! Should be here soon.
My mistake, they're sending the DO100PRO not the PO100PRO. Why do they name them so similar!?
Yes, S.M.S.L naming is very confusing, lol.
The PO100PRO is a small Digital to Digital Converter kind of like the one in this video, it has no DAC chip.
Unlike the one in this video though it can use any USBC cable and outputs to optical, coaxial and hdmi I2S. It has I2S switching and UAC switching. It running an Xmos xu318 and supports up to 32bit 768khz PCM and DSD 512. It can also potentially output higher resolution than even 24bit 192khz on all ports, including the optical output.
It’s very similar to the adapter in this video just far more capable.
I’m tempted to send you mine for purpose of review. Lol
All the very best!
Can you transfer coax to toslink with surround sound
Pls how do I take audio out from toslink (digital audio output to de regular 3.55mm Jack, any cable like dat
Does every android phone have the ability to send DIGITAL signal from their charging port?
All the ones I've had do.

Where do you buy the cable please

@@UTILITARIANTVUK thank you for sharing this for me. I am actually looking for an adapter that can convert toslink to usb audio out.
@@johndee759 did you find any solution ????
I am having the same problem as my tv has a optical out and my external DAC only takes usb input
So i need a way to get optical to usb
@@sagarSagar-py5lt I have not. I am looking for a Blu ray player that can play CDs with turning on the tv.
Mine's the same but 192khz 🥳
what make is your adapter ? thanks
Easier to use a Chromecast audio dongle then your phone won't be tied by cables
Thought they stopped making them?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK fantastic little devices I think I paid about £12 years ago, they're now quite sought after but can still be picked up on ebay from around £25
@@banjo-tony I suppose the only possible issue is how good the DAC is in it?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK as you mentioned in your video that all depends on quality of your hearing, I'm pretty sure with my tinnitus my ears couldn't differentiate.
Have read on a website from July 2022 that Google are currently working on a new Chromecast audio device!
