Guys so I went to tryouts, and I made them team! Your advice really is super helpful, and I really advise everyone seeing this comment to take her advice. Thanks for all the tips you said in the video.
some tips if you're new but determined to get better: -lessons are really helpful! even if it's just group lessons, it'll really make a difference. -along with that, play consistently even before you try out! you'll improve a lot over time. -always try your best, you may not be the best person on the team but talent isn't equal to success in tennis good luckk
Once school starts back I'll be trying out and I'm so nervous 😬 I haven't played any sports, and with everything going on i've only practiced in my backyard. I've been focusing on running, serving, and basic passing (or whatever it's called for tennis)

About the shoes COURT SHOES!!! I SWEAR ONCE YOU GET COURT SHOES YOU PLAY BETTER! I highly recommend them! They help your game so much because they were made for the court they grip better! Running shoes are good but not as good as court shoes!!!!

I’m pretty decent at tennis but I’m thinking about joining jv tennis next year (my sophomore year). I’ve played for fun before but I’ve never competed.
I'm gonna be a sophmore next year and was going to tryout for tennis for the first time. do you know how long tryouts usually last and when practices would usually officially start? like would practices start immediately after tryouts or when school starts? also are all rackets the same or are their different things I should be looking for when buying one?
If you’re a beginner, you should go for a racket with a larger racket size (105+ square inches) as they offer a more forgiving sweet spot as well easy power and stability. A synthetic gut or multifilament string at a lower tension is both cheap and user friendly so I recommend that. Also, make sure you use ACTUAL tennis shoes! They have a grip made for the court so you don’t excesdivly slip and slide.
i’m an 8th grader trying to make the tennis team next year for highschool. the thing is i used to do it when i was in preschool to 6th grade but then i quit for swimming. girls and boys switch off for fall and spring seasons so next year girls will play spring season. should i get back into it in the summer? because rn i have swimming in the school season so i can only get ready for it in the summer. should i do it?
After hearing this i got more nervous. But I'm glad I know whats going to happen. I'm a person who would usually walk half of the mile. I dont know if I can do this. But I really want to get active.
You'll never know unless you try!! I barely made my half miles and running was/is my least favorite thing to do and majority of the time we did our runs my first 2 years I thought I would never make it to the end but did every time!
Honestly I didn't even know any terms, let alone serving when I first tried. If your school has no cuts then you don't have to worry about that, and most like me start with an underhand serve and you'll just keep trying and move onto overhead automatically especially when you practice with friends once you make the team. During tryouts if your school has cuts then I would believe they're looking for serves, under or over and would be a good idea to practice it.
hey what tennis racket did you have in this video I want to try out but I want to practice and I need one but I think the one you have would work for me

I’ve played tennis for only like a month and a half and I want to try out for my team when I start freshman year. Problem is, I’m not that good and I’m very shy.
You'll never know until you just give it a try at least! I made so many friends in tennis it's crazy, it's so fun and you create a super fun sisterhood alongside playing an amazing sport.
I’ve been playing since I was 5. I stopped at 13 when I loved and fell into depression. The pandemic has made it hard and I haven’t been able to play and I feel so disappointed. I tried playing a year back but I could barely hit it over the net. I feel so down but I want to try out. ):
If you loved it there's no way you'll be able to leave it, sign up for some indoor areas near you if you want, a lot are accommodating with pandemic restrictions now! Life is too short to miss on things that make you happy ツ I haven't been able to do much dance past 2.5 years during uni and I didn't even realize time flew by so fast and signed up for class this past month and am so happy and glad I did. If you have a passion go for it!!!
Omg omg. My tennis tryout results are on Monday. Im so nervous. Ive played tennis for 3 years and stopped 2 years ago. I feel really nervous bc i missed couple of balls while doing, forehand/backhand volley, and 20 balls of forehand and 20 balls of backhand. Also, i did serve well but sometimes missed balls.
I have tryouts in January and the coach said they are only taking 12 girls out of the 25 that were in the room.. The 12 that were on the team last year are trying out again and I feel like because theyve had experience they will get on the team instead of the new people. I’ve never played tennis but I understand the sport y’know?
it’s december rn and i’ve been playing everyday it’s not in the 30 degrees and if it too cold i hit balls in my garage i really want to peruse tennis as a lifestyle kinda unrealistic ik but it’s just my dream and tennis is my passion. I’m asking for a tennis ball machine for Christmas because at my school they don’t really do cuts unless your horrible but they have like the top 5 best players and those players are the people that actually get to play in tournaments and i really want to make top 5 but i hope i don’t lose anything during the winter so pretty stressed lol
I am confused I thought this video would be about the actual tryouts because my daughter already did the physical but they have a separate date for the try outs to get accepted to JV or Varsity.
Im going to tryout this fall since im a going to highschool! Im super nervous but this vid helped so muchh🥺 Ive done only basic tennis when i was younger, and Im gonna take tennis lesson over the summer to prepare for the team, do u think it would be worth it?
I'm glad the video helped!! The lesson would 100% be worth it! If you're not confident in any skills or just want to get used to playing it would be amazing if you took the lesson. Every year when I grab the racket it always seems unfamiliar for a bit before I'm used to it again and if you get that out of the way with lessons you'll feel much more confident going into tryouts. Good luck!!
this video is older so i doubt anyone will even see this. but if you do can someone please help me!! i’m moving from a 2A school to a 4A school in August and i’m interested in doing a sport in high school since they have way more options and i’m very interested in tennis. however i’ve never played before so i’m not sure what i should do. pls help.
First game in a match? No. But for tryouts you don't do games till elimination or anything, they just watch you in games and see your skill, and if they do matches in tryouts you play the full set/match
I bet you’ll do fine! I haven’t been on an official team or have played with someone but I have a pretty good understanding of the rules and whatnot. Hopefully that helps me a bit!!
@@teabook4 Aw it’s okay, theres always next time. And now you know what happens at tryouts/the process and can start practicing to improve and get in next year!! 💗

I feel really nervous bc i missed couple of balls while doing, forehand/backhand volley, and 20 balls of forehand and 20 balls of backhand. Also, i did serve well but sometimes missed balls.
@@Kamalvir thank you! As the results, I MADE THE TEAM!!
I’m trying out and I’m trying to make A team
And I have never played it 😔
Please help me girl
my school has a no cut team so i plan on starting in freshman year..but i’m still scared
I have tryouts in January and the coach said they are only taking 12 girls out of the 25 that were in the room.. The 12 that were on the team last year are trying out again and I feel like because theyve had experience they will get on the team instead of the new people. I’ve never played tennis but I understand the sport y’know?
JK_Free Thanks girl 😂 Ive been practicing a lot I just feel like the coach will take the girls who were on the team instead of new ones
Bailey Hogue did you make the team?
YESS, people underestimate tennis and think it’s easy but oh no IT’S HARD
it’s december rn and i’ve been playing everyday it’s not in the 30 degrees and if it too cold i hit balls in my garage i really want to peruse tennis as a lifestyle kinda unrealistic ik but it’s just my dream and tennis is my passion.
I made the teammmm
JK_Free thank you for the tips❤️💕
i’ve never ever played tennis & tryouts are tomorrow
how’d it go?
Good luck!!
@@Kamalvir thank you so much for ur advice!
this video is older so i doubt anyone will even see this. but if you do can someone please help me!! i’m moving from a 2A school to a 4A school in August and i’m interested in doing a sport in high school since they have way more options and i’m very interested in tennis. however i’ve never played before so i’m not sure what i should do. pls help.
Jhajj thank you so much!!
I don’t know how tryouts work but if you lose the first game are you automatically out?
First game in a match? No. But for tryouts you don't do games till elimination or anything, they just watch you in games and see your skill, and if they do matches in tryouts you play the full set/match
I’m sorry but what does ct stand for
JK_Free yeah that’s what I meant and thank you so much !! 💛
i have tryouts in 3 days and i’m freaking tf out even tho i’ve been playing for a year
I bet you’ll do fine! I haven’t been on an official team or have played with someone but I have a pretty good understanding of the rules and whatnot. Hopefully that helps me a bit!!
I tried out imma update y’all when I see who’s in
