Hi! Last week when I first tried to publish this video, there was unfortunately an audio glitch about half way through so I had to re-export it and upload it again. Thanks for your patience with this one!
Ohhh, for a moment I thought I was having hallucinations when I saw that video on the notifications and when I searched it on your channel I couldn't find it, hahaha
I was working my first job at Funco Land in summer of 2002 and I remember seeing Tony Hawk 3. The last floor copy sat on the shelf for months before being dumped in the bargain bin after the GameStop buyout.
You are right, some States still not merged FunCo Land with GameStop after 2002 that was the king of the 6th gen game consoles an the prime of physical and rare games until 7th DLC, 8th Season Pass and 9th Battle Pass
The problem with doing the final games for pretty much any platform is that a few sports games will always creep in. Surprised there were a few heavy-hitters at the end of this particular console!
Twilight Princess was developed for the Gamecube and was set to be released for Christmas 2005, but they delayed it for an entire year so they could port it to the Wii and debut it on there
Who remembers the commercials for the original NES Dr. Mario? It's funny because the witch doctor song used in it was about 40 years old at the time. 🤣
N64 will always have a special notch in my heart. As far as football games, Blitz is pretty much my only go-to due to it's arcade-y nature. I remember laughing my ass off with my high school buddies due to the over-the-top tackles and dragging the defensive players behind me down to the endzone
That Powerpuff Girls game looks similar to Power Stone, an arcade game that got a port on Dreamcast. That game is the best for that style of arena fighter
Now you've got the audio nerd in me wondering how the N64 hardware handles sound. I know that older systems, like the NES, Genesis, and SNES have several sound channels used for both music and sound effects, and sometimes, the music is a little too rich, so it utilizes one of the latter for music, and I'm wondering of Tony Hawk did that (again, assuming the N64 even works that way), so the music parts that bleed into the effect sound channels are what you're hearing.
Kind of strange, the N64 had some games in 2001 and only one in 2002. Compare that to the PlayStation 1, which kept going on in 2001 and 2 and even 3 and 4!
Powerpuff Girls had so much potential. That laser blast was cool. A bigger arena and more moves would have made it a lot better. Shame it was a miss! Good video, thanks for putting it out there!
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my collecting of Nintendo Power issues. I love going back through my collection and reading those old articles, so it's cool to see someone doing the same. Great video.
A nice video about concluding a video game console, Erin. 🤗🤗 I use kid-friendly language because the Powerpuff Girls don't really want me curse. 🙄 So yeah, popular cartoons get crappy licensed games. I guess Game Sack needed to do another episode of the Last Officially Released games hopefully.
I had a lot of faith in Nintendo since the NES and SNES, so I waited for the N64 and passed on the PS and Saturn. I regret nothing😅. Great to see it getting some love. By 2002 though, I wasn't paying any attention to it, so this is interesting for sure. Keep it up!!
Loved this. I’m surprised you didn’t mention Conkers bad fur day. I remember with the power puff girls game. I was very disappointed with that one too.
We had Family Video rental stores in my area growing up in the 2000s into the 2010s, and it was rare to see a manual with the game. If they did, they'd usually be tattered from being taken in and out of the generic plastic clam shell they used to store rental games. Jak 2 for PS2 was the first rental I recall coming with a manual. Anywho, great choice in topic for the video, can't wait to see the video on PS2 games if you go that far!
Loooove Dr. Mario 64, and Mario Party 2 is my favorite in the franchise. Never really played Razor much, might need to. 2001... you're really taking me back.
N64 beyond the heavy hitters like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, of course Super Mario 64, etc. it was the PS1 in which became my go-to and preferred system. So I'm particularly surprised that I hadn't heard any of these "Final 5" published to close out the N64 era. Enjoyed your latest NES Air Fortress VOD on the Extras Channel, and look forward to your next. :)
The Powerpuff Girls: The Original Guilty Pleasure for boys who liked superheroes, but would be too embarrassed and never admit to liking any of the female ones, never mind shows starring them. We grew up at just the right time for this and a new generation of consoles (even if I made the switch to PlayStation at this point).
2:35 Most regions got Mario Party 3 as the last N64 Mario game, surprisingly. However, I don't consider Mario Party 3 being released at the tail end of the console's life, as it initially came out in December 2000 for Japan. As for Dr.MARIO 64, it is the last game in the Mario series released on the N64, though North America would get Mario Party 3 a month later.
Totally missed all of these in my early adulthood. Having a job & little responsibilities, I moved on as quickly as possible to the newest systems ASAP. I loved the N64, but the PS2, DC, NGC, & Xbox really sucked me in. RIP DC...
What an interesting time in gaming I was already out running the streets by then, but you can see how they were trying to make use of the new graphics at their disposal thanks Erin 😄
would love to see one about the GameBoy... that console was still alive on the days of the N64... probably some of its last games were released after the N64 got discontinued ^_^"
Great video, as always, Erin. Some great memories here... I wouldn't say the N64 is my favorite console (that'd be the Switch), but the N64 was a thing during a really nice time of my life. So, I'm definitely nostalgic for it.
I loved playing Tony Hawk games back in the day it was so much fun and still is. Also Razor was pretty fun also. But my favorite next to Tony Hawk pro skater was Agressive Inline. Man that game was so awesome and the soundtrack was so dope. Had so many great hits. Like Reel Big Fish-Sell Out 👍🏽 The whole soundtrack was great 🤘🏽
It is funny you mentioned Twilight Princess. That generation switch was incredibly unique in the the GameCube was the last console that Nintendo competed in power. The Wii was a motion controlled gimmick. It wasn't an upgrade so more people wanted to continue with the GameCube. Twilight Princess on GameCube is the superior version. Just like Skyward Sword on switch is better than the Wii version or Breath of the Wild on switch is better than the WiiU version. Wii was a fad because motion controls are so awkward to play with. Furthermore, Link is left handed! The wii did a right handed Link and that is just wrong.
Awesome N64 video, the last N64 rental from Blockbuster Video was actually Mario Party 3 and also the last N64 game, I ever bought was Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers.😅
Great video! To answer your question at the end, it would be cool to see the last 5 games of the Dreamcast, since it wasn't around all that long and kind of overlapped two eras. DC is my favorite console. :-D
I had THPS 4 or 3 on GBC that's how poor I was missed out on next gen hardware for the most part until well into ps3. I wonder how twilight princess would be had they not converted it to wii during development, would the animations be better looking not being based on little wii motions?
I always thought there were N64 videogames released in 2003. It's good to know the real data. Thanks for reviewing all of these. You woke me up a few of interest for the Tony Hawk games!!!
The final game for N64 came out mere days after I started my first semester of college. That's weird to think about... especially since i didn't even get a GameCube until a few years later.
Pro Skater 3 on 5th generation is my favorite way to play this game, I don't really like the 6th gen version at all. That being said, while the N64 version is pretty decent imo, I prefer the PS1 version.
Well, the PS1 version as lots of long load times between menus, but it has FMVs and 6 more music tracks. The N64 version is the one to go-for, considering how fast the menus load in between.
ario Party 3 = The best Mario Party on the n64. Improved on the previous two. _Best game in this video without a doubt!_ Tony hawk was fun for the times. Dr.Mario = *lazy 2d release on a 3d console. Nfl Blitz 2001 = *Hasn't aged well graphically, but if you can master it then it's a lot of fun, good arcade port.* Razor freestyle scooter = *toiletpaper game feeding the fad of the times* Madden 2002 = *A version of toiletpaper for it's time in gaming* powerpuff girls = *looks like a blatant rip off of powerstones game mechanics that came out 2 years prior! very repetitive looking*
13:44 Actually... *putting on my nerd glasses* ...Twilight Princess was made for the Gamecube and delayed a full year to convert it to the Wii. The Wii version inverted the entire game, including the traditionally left-handed Link, because most gamers were right-handed. The the Wii controls were tacked on, and the only "enhancement" was that you could more intuitively aim arrows with the Wii remote instead of the C-stick.
Oh wow they were making games up until 2002??! That’s only 6 years after the console launched, nothing is surprising about that. That has happened every console generation
hmm I wonder if the load times on pro skater 3 for n64 are shorter than the load times for xbox or playstation as it's on cartridge rather than cd, ...could be an advantage for playing it on n64.
Yes. The load times are faster, especially in the menus. However, the Xbox version has long load times when transitioning between the actual game and the skate shop menus.
Hi! Last week when I first tried to publish this video, there was unfortunately an audio glitch about half way through so I had to re-export it and upload it again. Thanks for your patience with this one!
I thought this looked familiar
It was removed halfway into me watching last week.
@@Heazie same, I heard the audio glitch then it shut off, glad it got re-uploaded
Mad respect for doubling back on your work due to an audio glitch. I love that kind of work ethic!
Ohhh, for a moment I thought I was having hallucinations when I saw that video on the notifications and when I searched it on your channel I couldn't find it, hahaha

Yeah, I'm not sure if/how I'll handle the systems where it is basically ALL sports gaes at the end!
N64 also had a few titles released years or decade down the road, as evident by 40 Winks and other tirles I can't remember the names off.
Only just now do I remember that commercial!
Yes sir. It’s the old Alvin and the Chipmunks song 😂
FYI, Twilight Princess was built for the GameCube and ported to the Wii.
Correct. When I hear something completely and obviously wrong like this in a video, I start to doubt other stuff I heard in said video.
@@patricksorenson9586 boohoo go watch another video
She's usually very accurate IMO, but a fair point.@@patricksorenson9586

Hey, exactly my thoughts. Freely running around and grabbing items to throw immediately makes me think of power stone. There was also Ehrgeiz.
40 Winks last to be ported to the N64, although obviously it was ported years after the N64 was discontinued and not sold in major retail stores.
It was a port of a Sony PS1 title.
NFL blitz was such a hidden gem. This game was a lotta fun.
NFL Blitz was great. They brought it back in Blitz the League but it wasn’t the same
Blitz online with XBox Live was really fun, very strategic at high level play.
Now you've got the audio nerd in me wondering how the N64 hardware handles sound. It's unfortunate when most, if not all, games based on CN shows can be best described as mid. Even the ones with characters that have Heat Vision.
Best part of growing up is finding out games you missed or replay them since most is forgotten by now. Thanks for the nostalgia!
The Powerpuff Girls game was so, so bad... it would have been much better off as a 2D platformer or something.
I agree!
Would love to see a 100th game series for various consoles.
hmm that would be interesting!
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my collecting of Nintendo Power issues. I love going back through my collection and reading those old articles, so it's cool to see someone doing the same. Great video.
6:45 my favorite part about blitz was being able to constantly tackle players after the play was over. Its basically a chaotic madden!
A nice video about concluding a video game console, Erin. 🤗🤗 I use kid-friendly language because the Powerpuff Girls don't really want me curse. 🙄 So yeah, popular cartoons get crappy licensed games.

Awesome!!! Thx for the research! Love the "last games series" hope you do it for all consoles, even ps4!
So glad to hear you like this series! Yes,
I’ll totally be doing more consoles. Thanks for watching!
I love this series!
Love the video NFL Blitz was an awesome game. Great memories, thank you again. Erin, i always appreciate your videos
That Razor scooter game had a big missed opportunity to partner with Kidz Bop lol.....
considering the first Kidz Bop albums were from 2001 it was a cringe and funny opportunity
You would do a Power Puff Girls game by focusing on flight and base the game on avoiding attacks and colliding with targets at high speed head on.

Lol, in 99 I was 12. Got my first kick scooter...The Cyclone. By the time the game came out I was already on my way to high school.
I think out of all Nintendo games. Wind Waker has held up the best. If that game was released today it would feel completely fresh!
Chemical X, did anyone else think of another connotation here... that may have also been experienced in the 90s?? 😂
Had all the wrestling games for N64, never put it away until XBOX360. We wrestled until we could not wrestle anymore. LOL!
