  • Watch while I turn a 2D PCB in Eagle CAD into a 3D model in Fusion 360 in under a minute! So cool and handy.

I watched a bunch of long videos that were so complicated.
Then I watched your 10 minute video and POOF, there it was, simple as can be.
    Thanks!

It's a great feature as you said. Would like to see more import function in Eagle to get other projects into it like KiCad, Alterium, etc. KiCad has also this kind of function with FreeCad which can be used to get it in fusion 360. Nice video, thanks for sharing.

Saleem - I'm sorry, I don't know exactly what you are referring to.

Hey, I'm really new to fusion 360 and I want to look at how the actual 3D PCB will look, but unfortunately, I don't know how to do that and many of the components that I have used does not have a 3D package. Could you please make a video or guide me to another source from where I can learn how to make 3D PCB when I don't have 3D packages. BTW great video.

Hi Asmer - thanks for watching. Autodesk has updated a lot of the libraries with 3D models, but as you note, they are not complete. If you want to get a full sense of the PCB, you will need to create models for the missing components, or look for appropriate models on GrabCAD or a similar website. Depending on what the PCB contains, you can likely find models for just about everything you need. Further, once someone creates a 3D package, that package can be used for any part - you just need to associate the package to the part. I will do some playing around and see if I can pull together a video - it won't be posted for a couple weeks though. If you provide me some sense of the parts on your PCB, I can probably point you in a more precise direction.

I have used CircuitMaker for 21 years...their latest build has been crash city...I think I am ready to migrate over to Eagle.

Interesting. I have to say that although I like some of the features Autodesk has added, the electronic design space in Fusion 360 is far from complete and certain choices in the UI boggle my mind, making the tool nearly impossible to use easily.

@@cyberreefguru, don't get me wrong Altium has done a great job...their PCB designer is bar none...but you have to pay a lot for the features. I am just tired of the 5 year old bugs not being fixed.

@@cyberreefguru I actually changed to KiCAD yesterday. I am very impressed with the Software and I will be moving foreword with it. CircuitMaker was awesome...but damn...what a shame that the package was bloated beyond belief.

@@kriskizlyk Yeah, same for some of the issues with Fusion 360 - no excuse for well known, well worn bugs when they are releasing massive features monthly.
