- ✨I have loads of ideas in this one for An artist Date or a Date with Inspiration to keep your lights shining bright ~ especially important in our current chaotic and often overwhelming world. And, I find, it's harder to shine some days since the world seems to have changed in so many ways... In this one I am taking you to an art gallery to see Toulouse Lautrec and the Masters of Monmartre, Paris, some studio vlog time and a sketchbook session with a loose, expressive, pencil portrait sketch. Creativity and self-care working together, hand-in-hand.

I haven't watched the news on TV since 2021. I read the headlines online so I know what us going on, but I'd much rather retain my energies to support all the good things happening in my community. Same here. We don't watch mainstream TV or listen to any radio news. I read stuff of online just to be aware of things. I believe about 5% of it.

Regarding crochet, look up "free form crochet" for some inspiration. I love making shawls and scarves, with my own twist. And I love finding inspiration in varied ways, from books, and galleries, second-hand stores, libraries, parks, and gardens.

I homeschooled our children and I focused on art, nature literature. They are avid readers now. Both went into fine arts in college one graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in stage and set design the other switched to psychology but still draws and writes. One of our favorite artists was toulouse lautrec. We had so much fun learning about his art and his life. Our son lived in London, Cambridge, Kettering, and bury st Edmonds over a10 month period and loved it. This was about 10 yrs ago but he would have loved to have seen that. I think hopping in the car for a little adventure of a nice long or short hike, seeing what's around us getting out and about is a good thing for the brain and outlook on life. We live in southern Mississippi and we find the little things are the things that rejuvenate us the most. Shutting ourselves off can be unhealthy I think. Getting out for just a walk can blow the cobwebs off and give you a boost.
Have you painted a portrait of James or the two of you together in a painting ? I enjoy my time with your joyful love, sharing, and caring .

I am 73 still working full time as substance abuse counselor, sane job 18 yr. You are my inspiration, glean ideas for self care. I also gave fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I still have to pace my energy spending 😊
The drive through historic England was lovely, I don't know how you get energized with so little sunshine. Yes, most of the world is concerning at this time. You're right our words/actions do make a difference.
I love crocheting and knitting so much!💕 These crafts have really helped me during perimenopause. I make blankets for children in need. I don't use A pattern, just colorful yarn with basic stitches for warmth.💕 Thank you for sharing yourselves with us. You both are truly appreciated and loved💕🤗
Dear Wendy, thank you so much for this very uplifting and inspirational video for all of us during these days. I remember I had a Jean Avril poster in my college dorm room back in the early 70s. It was great fun to see you and James at the exhibition of Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec posters. I also appreciated seeing your visit to the plant store. I made my own terrarium in a beautiful bottle I managed to get second hand. I planted it all up, following guidance from Google clips, and the plants inside have been so happy, and growing now for about 2 years now I think. I take the top off about every two weeks, and give it a spritz with water spray, and it looks after itself, and looks so lovely. I love it. xxx

A beautiful recharge for you to visit the gallery, so much beautiful inspiration 😊 I crocheted for many years and stopped a few years back when my mother passed away. Seem to be in a long season of loss. Your Vlog is very special to me in every way, so I’m sending huge gratitude to you (James and your grand doggy too🥰🙏🏼🤗) thanks as well for sharing your creative finds, so fun!! Generations of my family have always had Prayer plants, they turn their leaves in during the darker hours, as if in prayer 🙏🏼. They can grow to be quite large as well with the right amount of TLC, which I’m certain yours will receive! ✨💛💛✨

I keep my precious little prayer plant on the draws in front of my East facing window, witch it said it liked, and I mist her every week - I have only had her a few weeks, but she has spread out, and produced new leaves already, and I could not believe it, but she has produced a flower! Apparently, this means she is really happy. I keep her out of scorching sun, and she enjoys the music I place in the morning in the bedroom - apparently plants like music, I suppose it is the vibration, and I always talk to my plants. Love all the plants you bought in Bath. xxx

Lovely video, as always, Wendy. I particularly like that little snake plant. I have a few varieties myself, but like the thin leaves on that one. They are one of the few plants that continues producing oxygen at night, so they are a good bedroom plant or near your workspace if you are a night owl. 🪴
Thank you for a very inspiring video. About the first plant you purchased, you should also know that it is a communicative one. It likes company. My mother had one in her living room. Every time she had guests and they talked for about 30 minutes the leaves would start to move upwards. By the end of the evening all the leaves were facing up! Thanks

Hi Wendy, I really enjoyed your video with James and love the plants... I am heading off to have a Bowen today as my body is a little out of balance, so when I come home I'll feel a lot better... I've quarter of the way though my latest sketch drawing for a friend and to my surprise it's coming on nicely... When finished I will send you a picture... The day is really cloudy and I think we might have some rain later, good day to draw... I love all the different artist and the way they do their works... It's like me and my daughter, I am realist and small where she is large paintings on all types of paper and wood... Well time is going so quick I have to go... Hi. So glad to discover your channel! I am a fairly new artist in my 50s, very much falling in love with watercolour. Also love my own company and relate to a lot of what you say in your vlogs. I like the way you keep it real and love that you have a large community that you inspire. I've gone from activism all over the middle east to painting in my kitchen listening to the radio! What a wonderful and amazing opportunity to have experienced! Gosh, do I wish I lived nearby! I remember well the first time I ever saw a painting by Mucha. My heart skipped a beat as I traced his lines with my eyes and soul. Thank you for sharing this with us! What a gift for me as I live in an art desert!☹️ No museums at all and the art galleries have the same artists all painting images of our beautiful islands. That's nice, but limited. I was in heaven when I visited Europe and her many museums. 😍You are so lucky to live where you do! I'm past due for another visit! I too, have bought some yarn to start a crouchet project! Creams and variations of soft aquas. Im aiming to make a basket. 😊I agree.. always aim to be more childlike. The playing keeps the soul shiny and bright! My world, along with many other Americans, became weird, uncomfortable and inconvenient, to put it mildly, in 2016 when a crazy lunatic stepped into the White House and proceeded to create chaos and mayhem all over the world. It is not until just recently that we are all taking a collective sigh, with the hope that he will be on the out soon, with a vibrant, happy, smart woman who we trust will be voted in to be our new prezzy. 🥳So, for us, we feel a little more celebratory than ever with hope in the air.💫 Yes, to turning the TV off and spreading love and light...and good art!😍 Oh, I have the prayer plant in my backyard! Thanks for the little "mental health check-up". I don't get to go to therapy any more, and sometimes I fall down in remembering the little upkeep tips that we all learn. These past few days I have felt very vulnerable, on my own with my dog, and feeling very unwell with tummy problems. Had to get the nurse to come and visit me, as I do not go out, so was so grateful that she came. Feeling very alone, and frightened with feeling so poorly. I could not figure out what you meant by crosher. It’s crochet!! 😊 And yes, Wendy.. the world is in a dire place right now. Dire. The best remedy is to create when others are destroying. And, of course, if one is inclined to prayer, it really can change everything. This is a spiritual battle we are in. It manifests in the natural world as chaos and insanity, expecting people to go along with and believe that the absurd, the vile, and the dark are all normal.
