I started a home business making concrete tables after being inspired by your videos. I got my first commission to make 50 tables for a large network of chiropractic clinics. Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Brilliant Build Pete, love the way those LEDs shine through for night time. Must be brillo living next door to you with all your builds. Well Done, Cheers, Barry (from England)
your welcome. I've watched it about 20 times now. lol. I am now in the process of building one myself. Its going well so far. I have no experience working with concrete so I hope that part goes well too. I am watching a few of your other videos where you work with concrete to learn some more.
Hey Danielle, thanks so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to check out the project videos, and for saying hi. Have fun with your upcoming projects!
I wish i could make something like this for my bbq area its frustrating ive got so many ideas in mind like a deck and getting my shade sail up which I've already got ive got so many projects in mind grrr its frustrating good job it looks awesome
Why does it sound like Edward Norton is teaching me how to make a patio bar?? I can't unhear this Oh and I love your videos, you do a great job of explaining things!
A couple things I would possibly change. Instead of using Velcro to attach the lights to the center bin, I'd use something like 1" x 1" boards to crate a U shaped bracket under the center of the bin. This would add more support under the bin, plus you don't have reach under it to undo the Velcro. I'd also probably use between 1/8 to 1/4" epoxy resin to line the bottom of the center bin (if it'd adhere to the bin itself) with a small drain either in the center or off to one side of the bin connected to a rubber hose (maybe with a shut off valve) so that way you can drain the center bin and not have to remove it at all. I'd also look at possibly adding LED's to either the perimeter of the edges or an insert of some sort in the center front part of the bar (or both)
wow awesome project, im planning to build a ''L'' shape bar . 12 X 6 . possible you think ? might join two pieces with a cedar woods pieces or something else. any advice ? ty
Hi Stephanie! You might think about pouring that in place and doing a hard trowel finish, as that is going to be quite a heavy project to flip and move otherwise. Best of luck!
Big fan of your projects... Is there a reason you don't edge glue the cedar pickets for the sides ?... Just wondering if this can be done without the small spacing between pickets...
Great video!! Thanks a lot. I am attempting my second concrete project tomorrow. You have probably been the biggest inspiration for that. I vigorously approve of your choice of whiskey as well. ... Oh, while I thinking that I actually have a question as well- in a previous video you put things like glass and send into a concrete top. You wet sanded it down to get an amazing look. I was wondering, if I don't have access to a wet sander, what other options do I have? Thanks!
Hey Mark! Haha, yeah love the Oban and Macallan. As for random glass etc, to get a perfectly flush finish you will need some sort of a diamond pad. The wet polisher shoots water out to keep the pad cool and has the gfci for safety. I have seen folks adapt a dry polisher so it will hold the 5 inch pads and then have a hose near by. Without a gfci though it's a bit of a safety hazard. Completely dry polishing is a mess and leaves marks in my experience. I've embedded things like sliced agate ua-cam.com/video/7xqG08jkXA4/v-deo.html and have got that flush with a normal sander. But if you are doing random glass then you'll want to wet polish. (normal sanding won't get things flush) I was hesitant at first about the $200 investment amzn.to/29Rihuy, but I've used it so much and been able to make a ton of furniture at my house and it's been well worth it and paid many times over for the investment. You might look at trying to rent or borrow though if you only plan on doing a couple projects. As it is a lot of money just to do a project or two. Let me know if that helps!
looks great! Can you please do a video on a similar structure but for an outdoor kitchen. i.e. bar top with bbq, sink and fridge inserts? im looking to do one next summer and i love your work.
brilliant I'd maybe string the cooler LED's between to small strappings to freely remove the cooler to refill when your half drunk.... lol love the idea mate
Good morning and I hope you are having a great start to your Thursday! Thanks for checking out the projects. You can get the plans for free by entering a 0 in the box. There is the option to donate, but the majority of folks get them for free using that method which is mentioned in the instructions on that page. Enjoy the build and have a great weekend!
Thanks so much for subscribing! Yep, I love the peaty flavor of the Talisker too :) When I was over in Scotland a couple years ago we stopped at both distillieries and it really helped me learn to appreciate a good scotch. Cheers!
Hello Pete my name is Eric. I have been watching your vids on UA-cam and your work is kickass. I am always looking for cool stuff to make. And I found these fire pit grills that are super cool but way to expensive. So I have been brain storming on how to build one. I have three wine barrels that I will try to build out of. I have been watching people make concrete bowl cast. I thought to my self could I make the fire pit bowl out of concrete and then place my steel plate over it. I don't know if you'll read or respond to my email but it's worth a shot. Let me know if you can advise. Thanks you in advance.
Hey Eric! Thanks so much, you are awesome! As for building a concrete fire pit bowl for the fireplace -- I love the idea -- but think the heat would most likely cause the concrete to crack. -- I have done surrounds for gas fireplaces like this : ua-cam.com/video/BygJGz3TC3o/v-deo.html --- but the heat is not so close to the concrete. Let me know what you end up doing!
Could this be modified to make it a cabinet? I'm trying to make an outdoor rolling kitchen island with concrete countertop to store my pizza oven (and have a serving area)
Nicely done. I think I may have used silicone to put the Lucite coasters in. That way I could replace them when needed. Nevertheless, I believe you earned a sub. Keep being awesome.
Love the channel, you do great work. I do have a question about the sealer. Is the sealer ur using food grade? I'm looking into doing my own countertops in the kitchen, and I'm having trouble finding a food grade sealer. And suggestions?
For indoor countertops I've used Cheng sealer with great results on multiple counters. Here is the amazon affiliate link: amzn.to/2sTUgv2 Thanks for the support! Hope this helps
1 question. Ive dyed my concrete black. When i fill in the air pocket voids do i have to dye the slurry cement too or will it just all blend when i wet polish it? Thank you for the great video!
Hi! It was about $170 when I built it. Unfortunately the cost of wood has increased quite a bit during Covid, so you'd need to do a little more research for today's price. Cheers!
I would love that in my bbq area but I'm hopeless at building things I would put a bit bigger cooler in it. It would look good next to my spa when I get one.
Hey! The thicker acrylic give more surface area for it to bond to the concrete and won't flex. If you can't find the same thickness, you might be able to double it up though? Let me know what you figure out!
Pete, your videos are both educational and inspiring. Thanks very much.
Thank you Dan!

How much concrete is used for the table top? Your videos are amazing. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Marco! This was about 1 1/2 to 2 bags Quikrete.
Nice build! One question: how did you attach the counter top to the base? Thanks and keep up the good work!
100% silicon caulk. Works great.
Thanks for the feedback!
very nice
Thanks David!
