Not sure why I find some of these songs relaxing yet sad. Like it reminds me of my struggles with anxiety and dealing with attacks, yet it feels therapeutic. I'm sure that doesn't make much sense.

But yes, we described it as cathartic because the feeling was similar to blissful death, knowing you are dying but moving on and being at peace with it. I really like "the purification of souls through an emotional discharge caused by trauma," I think that is very accurate. Listening to songs like To Achlys, or the songs MKF30 was referring to, hurts because it reminds us of our personal traumas, but by forcing us to face this pain, the music helps us move past it and come to peace with it. Thus "purifying our souls." So it might not exactly apply to most of the songs in this playlist, bittersweet might be more applicable. But yeah, I'd say that your definition is what I was thinking.
