- In this follow-up episode on the Old Byrd Farm channel, we continue our restoration journey inside the historic Byrd Farm House. After removing the rotten floor in the hallway, it's time to clean up all the trash and debris that had accumulated underneath over the years.
Join me as we clear out the remnants that fell through the holes in the old wooden floor. From forgotten items to potential treasures, we sift through the layers of history beneath the house. Once the area is cleared, we bring out the metal detector to search for relics, artifacts, and maybe even some hidden treasure buried under the dirt.
This video is all about discovery and preservation. Watch as we meticulously clean and explore, uncovering pieces of the past that have been hidden away for decades. It's a fascinating look at the things left behind and the stories they tell.

That penny is GOOD LUCK!!! Its a 1976! That was the year I got married! It lasted 42 years until he passed away in 2018.
Just so glad you got that roof on when you did. I am 71 going on 72. I said i would be 80 by the time you get the Old Byrd Farm liveable. You got at least 9 more years. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀
Yeah I’m 70 years old and it could take about that long because it takes Robert a long time to get himself in gear to get it done lol 😂
@@Melissa-pt2ik. It also takes money to do what he’s doing. He’s not a millionaire.
Robert knows that some of us are kidding around with him. Robert knows it's going to take along time to get the old Byrd farm livable. I am going to be 80 when all is almost done.
I'm only a year (if that) behind you. I turned 70 last October. Let's see if Robert gets that house finished before I croak, like Kermit the frog 🐸!
Sharon here.... Good to see the floor removed and the trash gone. Hey, a penny is a penny, a penny found is even better! LOL 👍😃
My mother used to say a penny saved is a penny earned.
All your hard work will payoff. Your connection to the home and caring heart will bring this home back to former glory. Love it as it is too. Save the old homes instead of letting them fall or be torn down. ❤️
We did that when we were 28 and bought a 200 year old house. 47 years later and we are really done but still look for things whenever we renovate another space. Old barns are really a treasure to dig around in too!
Also we still metal detect the grounds every once in a while to see if anything is coming to the surface where other buildings were. It's been a fun ride!
@@linxj6 that's beautiful. I bet it's a beautiful home. ❤️
I renovated two federal brick farmhouses from circa 1840 in the Shenandoah Valley. I put down a ground vapor barrier on the sides that did not have an open cellar beneath and it made alot of difference. What are your plans for the ground etc. Is it necessary as renovation techniques change and our reconsidered now. I started on my first in 1972 and my last in 1988. Good luck and you will get there in time to need to start over again. Old homes are a lifetime commitment, but so worth it.
I'd love to see those buildings, I'll bet they're awesome 👍.
A lot of work but I know your commitment shows. I bet the houses are gorgeous!
Good job, Robert. Just can't understand how all that trash got under that house.
Robert, I think you name your new cat Kit then you’ll have Kit & Kat.
I am with you on the trash clean up. You would know it was there, and you wouldn’t want to have to crawl through it if you needed to work under the house. The amount you need to do to save the house is inspiring. Keep going.
A great job Robert, it's very much a ground hog day situation with the trash removal and floor removal but you and the house are fighting back.
Don't let anyone say you didn't get your two-cents worth today.
😂
Good one!
It's always an adventure
That house needs the joyful noise of another generation in it, a rebuilt barn, and kids galloping around on ponies. I'm excited for you to have a new floor too.
It’s going to be so handy having a place to put your construction stuff and more area for storage during the reconstruction. Step by step, room by room this historic house will be alive again thanks to your hard work.
Can't wait to see this floor in!! It'll make a big difference!❤
How exciting, Robert. Take your vitamins😊
Great job Robert!! I agree, it doesn't look like a fun job!! It will be awesome in the end!!
Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you Robert and working on the homestead the house of the old Byrd farm house
Nice! Ready for joists and new floor. Sorry you did not find the Confederate gold stash, I had my fingers crossed!! ❣💪💪👍👍❣
I've yet to find gold with my detector either! Loving New Farm Cat 😊
Looking great. Robert. Little by little it's looking much better.
The magic of television, it took you a mere 3 minutes and 1second to clear the debris from the ground! I love your videos and am excited to see the OBF come back to life.
P.S.: Scott must have been a true inspiration standing in the doorway cheering you on!! 😆
We're both busy, cleaning, gardening, I love this part, metal detecting
Before putting the floor, remember to treat those old woods.
At least you got a real farm cat now. And a whole lot of rain Friday, looking at my radar.
It's coming along as another one for the books that you ha e done .thank you for sharing with us take care. 😊😊😊
Weii, no hidden chest of gold(again)!! Keep on searching Robert! Blessings.
How are you not overwhelmed by all the rubbish. But then when you clear that you have all the rot to deal with. Well done keep on keeping on. 👏
Thank you Robert!
Quite a job. Making great progress. Love the old rock foundation blocks. Really tells the age of certain parts of the house.
Oh Robert your hard work is paying off so love to watch the progress l heard your kitty wanting you to pet her just love all you do and are take care❤
Great job Robert on the tear down and clean up! I also seen your friend peeking around the corner. So I assume the rebuild video is coming soon.
you are making great progress on the old Byrd Farm! One step at a time, little by little you
will complete each step at a time. then advance to the next location! saving a piece of Georgia
history! thank you for caring enough to save the past, so everyone can enjoy it all.
Robert 1976 penny is a bicentennial penny! Keep track of that one! Better than nothing!
Did you consider covering the ground with plastic as you go?
cool video 👍🤟👍--Bonus points for the metal detector day- yessir 🥰👏
See a penny, pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck. That wainscoting and door trim is amazing.
You're a hard working man, restoring the OBF to live-in ready. Every step makes it look better and better. Getting the hallway up is a huge improvement. I'm so happy for how well things have gone so far for you. I know you hit snags sometimes but that happens. You figure it out and move on.
Sorry you didn't find any hidden treasures...yet. Those pennies were probably put there to throw people off. Haha!😉
Take care!
You would think lots of coins would have fallen through those old drafty floorboards over time, wouldn’t you? Better luck in the next room that needs a floor.❤️🐝🤗
Great progress, keep up all your hard work will pay off
It's been awhile since you initially started on that space. Glad to see you have finally rounded the corner and are ready to start putting it together.
Good morning, Robert, great video. Morning Kitty Cat. Kate from OZ
Dig 'em all. Don't get discouraged, just never know!
Great work Robert❤
Looks good and clean. A penny saved is a penny earned. Peace!
I can’t believe all the garbage in that house..you have been cleaning trash for awhile 😊
What is wrong with finding 2 pennies? You have twice the luck. Thanks for another great day on The Old Beard Farm.
Good job Robert .😊.
The gutted hallway and trash gone looks fantastic. Great progress made. Your Kittie sounds content. I saw Scott peeping at you working.
Good work. Love the cat 2.0 came to supervise. Question: when did the picture of Uncle Ken get put on the wall by the spooky bedroom door? I guess I'll have to watch some videos again to see if it's there from before. And I'm finally getting used to seeing Scott without his beard. He looks good but the beard looked good too.
So much progress! A lot of work for you, but it looks so much better. Just more and more improvements-great job!
Great progress!
Can't wait to see new floor joist going in
Wonder if it would be easier on you to put those trash bags in a trash container then pull them out when they are full instead of fightin with the bags while putting stuff in them??
A penny found is a penny earned.
The more trash removed the less it will draw mice in. It's good to see you working on the floors. Aww kitty is cute! You got to watch out for those zinc mason jar lids, could have money buried in those jars! :) Got to be some old coins around there some where. Looking good!
Hey Robert. a big job, manily trash, but gotta get it done, and to know that when the new joists, sub floor, you will knowe that is was done right. Admire you and all that you are doping, for such a young guy to love this place so much to do this. God bless you!. Great seeing Scott!
Good job thanks enjoyed seeing cat and hearing him meow
You know Robert, if I was you I'd clean all the rooms out first....totally kidding! Great job! Another one down! Looked like you were sweating. Must be that good old Georgia heat/humidity. Till next time!
A pinpointer to go with that detector would make your detecting easier
Haaaa….talking to your equipment like I do… too funny 😂
Looks great and I bet it makes you feel better! Wonderful!!
cant wait to see the new floor...still looking good tho :)
That a bicentinneal penny. Put that on the mantle.
Oh yeah! I hadn't thought of it that way but it makes sense that it's a bicentennial penny.
Keep saving those buried pennies. Someday you'll be able to take them into your local bank and exchange them for a nickel, maybe even a dime. Seriously, congrats on the cleanup. 👍👍👍
Good job, sir !
I take offense -- 1976 was a great year! Lots of progress being made and that’s got to feel good. 👍🏻
Awesome hard work done again!
Good work!
You're going to keep the trash bag makers in business!😆
Love Cat in background telling g you where to look
Thanks!
Fantastisch Good work Robert you te best te House te opruimen thans te video Top men good weekend friend ✌️🧤🧢🎽🍹🏡✔️🚚
It’s looking g good. At least the trash is out. Next you lay down the cross boards or whatever there called (I forgot) then the floor. It’s one step at a time n sometimes you fall back.
♥️♥️😊👍👍🌟🐾🐾🐈⬛
PS. I think you should name the farm cat “ Kit Kat” just a thought.
With a dirt floor, wouldn’t you love to take a power washer to the ceiling and walls in that room?🇨🇦❤️
Not when there's a140 yr old horse hair ,lath boards ,and 140 yr old gypsum walls .it would all just cause far more troubles
The Birds could have left you a little something.😁
Aloha 🌺 Robert! 🥰
How did all that junk get under the floor??
Holes
Looking good, how many rooms are in that house?
Are you considering laying a vapor barrier under the house?
💞
Kitty is calling you.
Probably wants food!😹
I be careful with old coins. Some can be worth some money. You could also sell it as a find on the farm too!
One day at a time…
CT….cat two. Name for new farm cat.🥰👏
Fantastisch Good work Robert you te best te House te opruimen thans te video Top men Good weekend frieds 🚚🧤👍🌤🍹🏕😅😎
Depending on which mint that penny came from, it could be worth more than a penny.
That cat should be called Penny
😎👍
Great another job ticked off the list
Yup!
Ok Penny 1986 bi centennial amd Real Copper the copper piping the most valuable
Well back in 1976 there were quite a few things you could still buy for a Penny! Haha I'm not sure anyone, ever a child would have cried over its loss, but then again some of the 'penny candy & bubble gum ' was darned good back then. I'm sure it would depend on how poor a child might have been back then. Well today when the days of having a 'penny dish' sitting beside the cash register for occasional use are long long so we might as well be a dollar short because I don't think the big box stores let you be even a penny short & still get the item!!!
I'm from Canada and some government people decided to actually get rid of our pennies completely and everything gets rounded up or down 2-3 cents & if you're using cash & 'strangely ' it seems to always be UP no matter how much I buy haha. Im not sure how many dollars that stores take in in a year doing this but I bet we'd be surprised!!! Of course if we're using plastic money its not rounded I don't think but who knows what those cash registers are programmed to do haha
The old saying was "If you watch your pennies and look after them, the dollars would look after themselves" well in Canada 🇨🇦 we can't even do that now. 😄 🤣 😂
Creepy doll inside the wall 😮
76 77 my first year in High School.
Dang, Was that a wad of $100.00 bills I seen go in the trash ???? What a place to hide money, No one would think to look there 😃
My mother used to say "Find a penny, pick it up, all day long, have good luck". You can call your girl cat "Kitty" and your male cat "Cat".
😊❤
What does Annie think of the new cat?
Have you metal detected the out side of the house.
The clock on the wall needs batteries.
Robert I wish you’d keep a mask on!
And gloves!!
