As soon as u smell banana ur brain pictures banana which u usually see. Like wise... he cannot recognise her facial expressions... but he can picture her normal face in his mind because she wears that red cardigan all the time before and after he lost his sight... even befor his sight issue he used to find her from far away bcoz of her cardigan.... now it makes sense right? He cannot actually see her but can imagine her and his brain fixed her image relating it to her cardigan.. so he can recognize her but cannot actually see her... thats it
