Thank you for this video. I had concerns about assembling this since I had seen reviews about the glass pieces shattering. Seeing it done put my mind at ease.
@@joekmodels Yeah that part of it was no joke. My wife and I were finally able to get the two side panels and back panel to fall into the grooves for the connecting pieces. I can’t imagine how hard that is for anyone doing it solo.
Thank you so much Sean! Yeah I’m a pretty artsy person lol. Hopefully I can get back to building again this month. Great job with your channel and builds as of late!
It's always a good idea to protect them if you can. I have had trouble finding places that you can buy simple display cases and models getting dusty is a pet peeve of mine. Thank you for checking it out.
Thanks for making this video. We picked up the same unit at an estate sale and wanted to make sure that I reassembled it correctly. We are using it to display our rock& gem collection. I reassembled ours and find it hard to believe you put yours together alone. PS: Wayfair list this same model with three different names, prices range from $355 - $729
Putting in the back and side glass with those long plastic pieces was a nightmare because the instructions aren’t clear about it. Thanks for doing this video because I was able to fix my mistake as far as that was concerned. I am going to move it into place before adding the doors and shelves.

Great video Joe. You have bought a really beautiful showcase and your models look fantastic in it. I also really like your collection of guitars. You can see that you will probably be a very good guitarist. I also play guitar. Greetings Aleš. 😎👍
Thank you very much Ales, very kind words! I think personalities like ours lend themselves to other such hobbies, like music or art! I am not surprised you play yourself. Thank you for the compliment sir.
You have a very nice collection. I am going to need either 15 of these or one giant Curio for mine! 😆 1/48 scale is not so easy to display because of their size. Thank you for sharing this, great looking display!!!
Storing models has always been a challenge for me, hopefully this keeps most of the dust off of them. The space still gets taken up pretty quickly though!
This was livesaver of a video - as anyone can see from the "installation manual" provided by the manufacturer. A couple of comments from a dummy installer... 1) The plastic glass bar strips do NOT fit down into the corner grooves (I thought they did). This means that the glass - frighteningly - actually stands alone until you fix the top panel on the unit. 2) I had to scrunch up the shelf suction cup fittings more than what's shown in this video. If I left them as sized, then the screws that support the shelves were too loosey-goosey for me. Also, it is possible to start these 3) I also was a one-person operation, but what I did was first attach one of the bar strips to the back panel and lean it up against the back poles (if you don't use much of an angle, then this doesn't strain the frame at all). Then I slid one of the side panels into its groove about 90% in the pedestal and held it there easily with my knee while I dropped the back panel in place. From there, it was simply a matter of holding the back panel with one hand while sliding the slide panel into the bar strip. No need to have it fully locked in, but as long as you have a good bite, then you can use both your hands to finish fitting the two glass pieces together. Once two of the three pieces are firnly attached and in place, they won't topple over and you can now finish the rest of the job by yourself easily. Thanks again!
At $20 a piece for each display case then this Curio Cabinet just paid for itself. Great job and a nice display cabinet. Curious, what are the dimensions of this Curio?
Joe, thanks for this video. It’s been really helpful as I’m building a similar curio cabinet. Quick question, did the adhesive side of that foam stick to the handle or the glass?
I ask because with mine, the way it was packaged was with the adhesive part facing the inside of the handle, which would make sense if I ever wanted to remove the handle from the glass without leaving the adhesive behind. But the directions aren’t clear and I couldn’t tell from the video which way you did it. Just curious.
Why would it say to put those suction cups for the glass shelves after having it mostly built? Wouldn't it have been easier to install them first before putting anything together.
Sorry I don’t, it seems pretty sturdy for everyday display items. I might look up the pdf directions online for the model number and see if the information is there.
I certainly hope not, but I can appreciate the concern! I just felt I couldn't leave them out in the open, this would be a better option. I'll admit that if I do something bigger, like more 1/48 or bombers, I might have to do something more custom. Thanks for checking it out!
Joe are you sure those little pieces are supposed to go on the magnet. To me it looks like they should be used on the hinges...so that when you tighten the screws the do not contact the glass and crack them....i might be out to lunch but have a look at that. Nice cabinet
Ed, thank you so much for saying this! I'm pretty sure you are correct after revisiting. The directions were a little sketchy as this part, and I just corrected it and this makes so much more sense!
@@joekmodels I would just hate to see your glass doors crack from the screws. I put a cabinet like that together back in the old days for my stereo.....man am I old lol
I ordered this exact one, I cant wait for it to come in! How big would you say the box is that the cabinet comes in? Would it fit in an average size car trunk? I have to pick this up and I'm hoping it'll fit in my car.
Yes they were. We watched you video over dozen of times. I thought for sure the glass was going to break even with the 2 of us. Hoping they take it back.
@@hettiejohnson2139 Ugh. Sorry to hear that. I had difficulties with all of that. I probably should have broken the glass doing it by myself. Hope you can get them to take it back for you.
Is there room for 1/6th scale inside the cabinet? Looks, like you could but 1/4th scale figures in there? I just brought this exact cabinet. You think wheels could be added in place of those gray things at the bottom?
The shelves are removable so you could make room height-wise I would imagine. I don't see why you couldn't add wheels if you have the handiness to do so!
I'm not 100% sure exactly what you are referring to as I built this some time ago. At what point of the video was I doing that part? I know I struggled with a few parts and had to adjust one or two things to make things fit. Are you talking about the long strips going from top to bottom of the curio?
So sad Amazon informed me 3rd party sell. I have to pay $130 s&h return because i purchase 2. Fyi to all who buy. They have No one to put this together. So be aware may ship for free. But not return
Looks to be just shy, I measured the space in between shelves and it is about 11 inches. You could just not put some of the other shelves, but it would look weird and only have two.
I appreciate this video.. My grandma over here saying the instruction manual is faster.. im like no this guy saved lives
I am so happy someone made this video. Saved my day. THANK YOU. Cabinet looks beautiful now to fill it up!

Hi, do you know the weight limit for each glass shelf??
Sorry I don’t, it seems pretty sturdy for everyday display items. I might look up the pdf directions online for the model number and see if the information is there.
That was interesting but the display density looks quite low. I'd also be concerned about a shelf collapse leading to a cascade affect.

The most difficult part was trying to line up the glass in the strip and in the bottom
@@hettiejohnson2139 Ugh. Sorry to hear that. I had difficulties with all of that. I probably should have broken the glass doing it by myself. Hope you can get them to take it back for you.
Dust proofing?
Yes, that is the idea. It was not 100% dust proof (small gaps between door glass), but better than leaving them out in the open.
Do you live in the miami area looking for someone to put this together
Haha, that's a ways away!

I’m having a lot of trouble getting those strips in. The corners won’t go in because of the circles carved into the bottom. Any advice?
