I actually heard it for the first time at my 3rd Babymetal show like 2 weeks ago. This song caused a near riot and nuclear meltdown, it was fucking wild. The entire arena was dancing and getting low, during the bridge. Just when you think that they can't get any more awesome, they drop a track like this, and I watched a bunch of girls in their 20s in the upper deck literally scream like it was the 60s Beatles, and dance their asses off, and was like "OK I gotta check this song out when I get home, it kinda has a groove." It's not one of my favorite BM tracks, the groove is just utterly wild.

Oh My Buddha! 😍 I got hyped like an idiot in the simplicity of this song and Momoko's solo speaking part with Kabuki style in the middle gives an amazing accent in the repetitiveness. The repetitive わっしょい "Wasshoi" is a call or yell used in Japanese Matsuri (festival). It is a kind of phrase to intensify people's excitement and especially to encourage the power of guys who are carrying a heavy Mikoshi that is similar to a float in the festival. Yeah, Metal Galaxy was super rad and had a ton of "genre benders but we're phrasing it through drop-D metal" and that's great, I really liked it. But Babymetal has gotten so big that all their new stuff has ascended to being in the realm of "here's the specific heavy band we're paying tribute to" and this song is no exception. My friend and I gave the show last week like a 10/10 without blinking, and debated the nuance of the song with a Korn tribute having a Morello cameo. Either way, it fucking rocked. It's already been 10 years of the Fox Gods and Babymetal, and I hope for many more to come.
