    Oh i hve another suggestion for a cheap mod! Get a rear motor mount! It gets rid of wheel hop and engine movement. The negative is bad vibration in the cabin, but it makes the car feel more solid.

      How is your shifting on a cold day with the last mod compared to stock? 1st to 2nd is notchy with mine and I wonder if it's the shifting assembly or the transmission. When it's cold I have to pull extra to the bottom and to the left for it to be a smooth shift (it doesn't grind though)

      Vlado Petkov when the car is cold it’s really notchy especially in 1st and 2nd, like you said. The mods don’t really change that, as they don’t directly effect the transmission. The short shift plate and the bushings help with the slop when it is in gear, make the throws shorter and tighten it up. I think the notchy-ness when it’s cold is just the way the transmission works. It’s always been like that for me and I’ve never worried

      Since the shifter is connected to a what is basically a long wire. The mods just help fix the issues cause by the fact that the shifter isn’t “directly” connected to the tranny unlike most cars.

      Thanks for responding. I hear other people have the same issue, so it's probably a design flaw. You make good videos, I'll keep watching ;)

      Vlado Petkov ya it’s just a design thing to work around the fwd set up without a transmission tunnel. Needed a way to connect everything together lol. And thanks man i appreciate that if you have any more questions feel free to ask!

    Yo, this is so good to hear from someone with experience. I think I'm going to do the EGR delete and I've been looking at different short shift plates but not sure on which is going to be the one for me. Definitely keep making Speed3 videos man, very interesting and engaging!

    The only reason you would ever get an oil restrictor banjo bolt is if you have a high flow exhaust. Never get a short shift plate. EVER. It will VERY quickly wear out the plastic shift pads in the transmission and will quickly cause your shifts to grind.

      You know of any other nice budget mods?

    • @claytonkaminski954
      @claytonkaminski954 3 роки тому

      I agree. Your turbo needs oil! Running the oil restrictor banjo bolt should only be recommended if you have a downpipe. Still though you wouldn't see any power gains from the banjo bolt. Not the best advice.

    Honestly I wouldn't recommend the shifter plate. I heard they tear up your trans. I decided to go with the jbr short shifter assembly and solid shifter bushings

    Not to be a bother but I noticed the link for the shifter base bushings went to the ones for the Focus, Focus ST and RS. I've got the link for the Mazda 3 base and Mazdaspeeds www.jamesbaroneracing.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=333_336_346_368&products_id=111&zenid=ssdo7j8c0mj54stvmph8454sp7
    I can attest to the usefulness of shifter base bushings. I've got some on my 13 and they are so much nicer than the stock rubber ones. It really firms up the shifts and makes them more crisp.

      glad you feel the same. I enjoy my stock shifter with bushings. It feels great and the stock shift length isnt that bad. STill very notchy. A great mod for the price.

    I clicked the link for the oil restrictor bolt and on the website it says may not be suitable for Gen 2 Speed3s? Any ideas of why it may say that? I know you have a gen 2.

    • @NewOrleansSpeed

      Eric G no idea why it would say that. I’ve been running it for quite a while now with 0 issues so idk

      NewOrleansSpeed- update. I emailed the people directly from the site you linked. They told me the GEN 2 had updates to the turbo the GEN 1 didn’t have. Therefore you would only use the restrictor bolt if you were sure the turbo was leaking.
