I do like the noises that stove makes, a great piece of kit. In the same way you use your whistle as a matchsafe/fire kit, I found a tubular object people used to use in the 70's/80's for keeping their money in at the beach, water proof with a big lanyard, junk to most people but it repurposed nicely. Thanks for the vid!
I also love the "roar" of the Svea, too! A very nice, meditative sound in the woods! Sound like an excellent piece of gear that you repurposed, my friend! Extremely creative! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! -Dave
Glad you liked the tip on the Condor utility pouch, Dave! Here's another: the standard Condor M4 magazine pouch holds any 170mm saw like the BAHCO Laplander perfectly, with room for spare blades. I love the gadget pouch and Sidekick pouch as well. I use the gadget pouch for my new action camera, and my Sidekick pouch has been a great tool and repair kit for years now.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Dean! Another excellent tip on another Condor pouch. Their pouches are outstanding! I use the gadget pouch much like you do and have made so many kits out of the excellent Sidekick pouch. I finally just turned it into a possibles pouch, as opposed to limiting it to one "type" of kit. It's great to hear from you, my friend! -Dave
thanks for your video. i bought my canteen kit for 7 USD and later i bought pouch for less than 6 USD. i know it is not original brand but as long as it worked perfectly for me, i think i stick to it. lol sometimes chinese brand items are good to keep budget down with almost 90% same performance.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your excellent comment, my friend! You are exactly right...as long as it works for you and is affordable, definitely stick to it! I completely concur with you! -Dave
The SVEA 123 and 123R are wonderful stoves. I have been using them since 1974 and they have been with me all over the USA. I have a Condor H2O pouch set up, but it doesn't have my SVEA in it. I choose to use a small Nesbit stove in it and my setup works well too. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your excellent input, James! Quick question, if I may - being that you have used the Svea stoves for a long time, have you ever had to replace any parts or do any type of maintenance? Mine seems rock solid after lots of use but I've read that some people have had to replace parts and some have been using them without any maintenance for many years. Thanks again, my friend! -Dave
There is a guest commenting from Brazil and we can see your videos are really helpful for people in different regions. As we can see in this video, we as people in Japan also have heavily snowy days now. Even though I'm living in the southern region of Japan, there is the accumulating snow under sub zero temperature today. Probably, having a hot drink would be really awesome. I want to have a hot tea when this snow stops.
There is nothing like a hot drink to warm the soul in sub zero temperatures! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment! -Dave
I also appreciate to watch your video, too. I strongly believe your introduction to utilize small and effective items is not only for Bush-Crafters but also for family campers or serious survivors, sir.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend! Bandanas have so many uses for kits of all shapes and sizes! I love finding new uses for them! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Rick! I really appreciate the very nice, encouraging comment, my friend! It's always a pleasure to hear from you! -Dave
Excellent video! The stuff sack idea should solve the difficulty of getting my Stanley cook set and gsi cup out of the main compartment. Nice work Dave. Thank you.
Another great kit Dave. I have not yet seen one of your videos in which I do not walk away with great ideas! You def. bring out the versatility of these various pouches. I’ll give a vote for seeing what’s in your possibles pouch! Thanks Dave and see you in the next one!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, David! I am glad I could provide some good ideas, my friend! I will definitely review my possibles pouch soon and we'll see you again soon! -Dave
Hey Dave...great video as always. I have a tip to share with you. Thought of it when you mentioned the benefit of matches with your stove. Order some “heavy 2mm beeswax hemp wick”. Then wrap the wick around the outside of your lighter. The good quality beeswax wicks will wrap nicely and the end of the wick will kind of “stick” to the wrapped wick and stay put. When you are ready to light your stove, unwind some of the wick, however long you would like, lite the end using the lighter and use like an extended match. When finished, put the end of the wick out and rewrap onto the lighter. You have a good fire source with multiple uses. Even makes starting normal fires easier and reduces the use of yiur lighter fuel. Also adds virtually no additional weight. Between this set up and a ferro rod you are set Hope that all made sense. Thanks for the vids
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very interesting comment, Justin! I appreciate you sharing the great information, my friend! -Dave
Great to hear from you, Yves! I appreciate you stopping by, my friend! All of Nathan's ferro rods are outstanding and molle is so useful for all different kinds of kits! -Dave
Great review. I always enjoy your video's. Here's a tip for you. If you put your stove in a nylon stuff sack it will slide in and out of your pack with ease. I've been doing that for a long time and it works well. Keep those video's coming. Enjoy & be SAFE !
Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, Dennis! I do use that nylon stuff sack technique with other cook systems I have and you're right , it works really well! -Dave
Condor makes good products. I have a similar pouch and your right. There are so many ways to build a cook kit. I sometimes change mine up just for the fun of it. Your becoming an authority on kits brother. You do very nice work.
You are exactly right, my friend, Condor does make excellent products! I, too, will change up what I carry in this pouch just for the fun of it...haha! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment! I hope the road is treating you well! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment, Timothy! Always love having you here for my videos, brother! I hope to talk with you again soon, my friend! -Dave
Hi Dave -- As always, another great video. I've watched it several times. Just yesterday I ordered one of those 5x7 backpacker tarps from Walmart. They also had the Stanley Cook Set for $13.47. Earlier in the day I saw the same set, in store, for $14.97. I couldn't resist, so I ordered the Stanley set. Guess I'll be joining the "Green Cup Club" soon. ;-) All the best! ~~Susan
Hey, Susan! Very nice to hear from you, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your excellent comment! I love the 5x7 blue walmart tarps! How is yours working out for you? I've used it for cover, for a ground cloth under my hammock, for kneeling, for sitting, for dragging firewood, etc! So many uses at such and excellent price! I am also glad to hear that you ordered the Stanley set! That think was my main solo cookpot for many years! All the best to you, too and keep me posted on how you are liking the new gear! -Dave
Nice looking kit Dave. I really like the cardboard with aluminum foil. Good tip! I love those bags from Walmart. I have bought several packages of them and pack so much stuff in to them! I had not seen that stove before. Thanks for the heads up to it. Take care and I hope you have an awesome weekend my Friend!!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Lee! Great to hear from you, my friend! I, too, love those stuff sacks from walmart...very versatile and affordable! This Svea stove has become my absolute favorite! Say HI to the grandkids for me and I wish you an excellent weekend, as well, Lee! -Dave
Thank you for all of your kind words and support over the years, James! I am lucky to have you here! Possible pouch video coming soon, my friend! -Dave
Love the fact that you appreciate my time. Many thanks for your time and knowledge. Oh I can't seem to find a Stanley water bottle like yours. Any ideas?
Another great video my friend. Looks pretty cold where you are. Today it’s 28° out and little snowflakes falling here and there we’ve only had one snowfall this whole year. But it’s really cold out. I love those kits. I think that Stanley cook kit was one of the best things that they ever came up with. Everybody seems to like them. You have made a lot of good choices. God bless you and your wonderful family. John
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your kind words, John! Very cold out there...about 14 degrees with a nasty windchill, but ideal conditions for being in the forest! I agree about the Stanley cook kit..one of their best products! I hope everything is going well for you, my friend! -Dave
A great cook system, will have to upgrade mine I think. Its great to see you brother, hope all is well your side of the pond, all is good here. Take care my good friend Dave uk
Hey Dave! Great to hear form you, my friend! I appreciate the kind words and am very happy to hear that everything is good on your side of the pond! Everything is nice here, as well, and you take care too, brother! I look forward to talking with you again soon! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Clark! Very nice to hear from you, my friend! Yes, on a very cold day, the warm coffee definitely hit the spot and warmed my soul! -Dave
Great kit Dave👌 and an awsome roaring coffee ☕️☕️☕️ it's easy as 1-2-3 😉 1-let the Svea road the coffee 2- pour the cowboy coffee in the cup 3- enjoy the coffee 👍 Just perfect and everything is nicely pack in an awsome pouch combo 🙌🙌👏👏
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment, Laurent! Always great to hear from a fellow Svea user! Yes, you are exactly right...easy as 1-2-3..haha! Are you still using the carbon fiber with your Svea stove? -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love sure Dave, I found that first it avoid spilling priming fluid all over and it gives a better priming time. I also found that using alcohol for priming leave less to no black sout on the burner. You should give it a try and if you find out that you dont like it it's not a permanent modification so you can remove it easly.✌️
..........Svea stoves old school , good winter burners.....lots of maintenance.......so many pots /cups......over 50 yrs. of backpacking , never used a fork...Grizz
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, my friend! Thats a very good point...I have never used a fork either..hahaha! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment, jimmy! I will definitely do more vids on carry systems and possible pouch video coming soon! -Dave
Nice video. I also use the condor H2 pouch. They are awesome. I carry a 64 oz Klean Canteen bottle with the flat D ring cap and the same nesting cup as you. Keep up the good work.
I wish Condor made a 12x5 bottle kit!! Alas I’m gonna have to go with Maxpedition and spend the extra bucks on it so I can fit the whole cook kit from the Pathfinder store in it. Might have to get the Condor one of these days for other cool kits though. But thanks for showing condors other pouches!! Gonna definitely look into those
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comments! There is a comment below that suggests the Orca H2O pouch, which they stated is a bigger pouch at about the same price as the Condor! Yes, any of the H2O pouches are excellent and can be used for many types of kits! -Dave
The stanley multi use water bottle is no longer being produced. Do you know anywhere I can find one? Even if it's used. Its the only thing I'm missing from making the perfect kit.
im digging your videos. i love the svea i have 3 of them. one is the first camp stove i bought over 40 years ago and its still going strong. keep it up and hike on.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! It's great to have you here! I love the fact that you have been using the Svea stoves for so long! Have you ever had to do any type of maintenance during the years of using the Svea's? I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment! -Dave
I have not had to do any real maintenance on my original stove but I have bought a rebuild kit including the wick for another stove I had purchased from ebay. They are really simple to rebuild. Just youtube it. I am continuing to search for the perfect nesting cook pot for it but no luck yet. Keep up the videos.
I hate to say this but the pathfinder pouch is better. It is bigger and unlinked.i grew up with the Svea, but carry a canister stove as they are superior in simplicity and convince. Nice video.
Hi David, another excellent video and I found it very interesting and informative. I love your pouches, very organised and efficient. I like your laplander saw, I have one of them. I have just got a Lars Falt knife with a Scandinavian grind with curly birch handle, a very well made knife at a very good price. I need to go and use the knife on a road test. Looking forward to seeing your next excellent videos .Kind regards David.
Thank you fo taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment, David! For my purposes, the laplander is just an excellent saw that I carry all the time. Your scandi knife sounds excellent! I look forward to talking with you again soon, my friend! -Dave
Freakin love that SVEA! You look cold brother, a little nip of whiskey in your java will help you out with that, lol! Thanks for sharing Dave, always look forward to your vids!
I love the Svea, too, my friend! You might be right about your technique for staying warm..haha! Even though is was quite cold, it was ideal conditions for a warm cup of coffee in the forest! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave your very nice comment! I look forward to talking with you again soon, brother! -Dave
Nice, Clark! Did you pick one up? What do you think of it? I found that the only thing needed was an edge put on the blade portion but that's pretty easy to do. -Dave
Hey Dave, My local Wally has let me down on the Ozark Hobo Tool. Sold Out . But, I did snag The Stanley Steel Cooker Adventure Series,(like yours) and I grabbed A Stanley Prep+ Cook Set . Plus, Wally has Hyper Tough Hatchets for $8, So, I grabbed 3 of them.., I have them razor sharp , Great tool for $8. I also ordered this Hobo Tool : www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DY99S9W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It has 4.5 stars, I'll let you know if it's junk. While on Ebay I found the 125 Year Stainless Mora Companion for $15 Free Ship. The More Gear & Gadgets, The Better! Take Care, Clark
self reliance outfitter has a water bottle holder similar to that but the water bottle area and front pouch are bigger that the one on the condor h20 might be worth looking at if you anted more room but very nice set up
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! This one is working well for me, however, if I feel that I need more space, maybe I will take a look down the road! -Dave
Not that I have noticed...its actually quite the opposite...the Svea has burned off the soot on some of my pots! Great question, my friend! Thank you for stopping by! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Thomas! Great to hear from you! Possibles pouch video coming soon, my friend! I actually received the Svea123R as a gift from my friend Nathan4071, however, amazon does have them at a good price - www.amazon.com/Optimus-Svea-Climber-Outdoor-Stove/dp/B000XZ5FDY/ref=pd_bxgy_468_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000XZ5FDY&pd_rd_r=4145H4VK7D475WF7HT6C&pd_rd_w=8vO1O&pd_rd_wg=eXTA1&psc=1&refRID=4145H4VK7D475WF7HT6C. Yes, it runs on white gas and I use either Coleman fuel or Crown camping fuel from Walmart. -Dave
Hey Dave🙂 Awesome kit! You can tell you have been at this for a while by the way you mix and match different pieces to your liking. I think self reliance outfitters should hire you to build kits for them👍🏻 is that the Condor pouch that came with their system? Did you get that hobo tool at Walmart? The only one I have seen is made by ka-bar. Another awesome kit I wish I had🎉🎉🎉 thanks for the video🙂👍🏻
Hey Joe! Thank you for stopping by! I would definitely take a job with SRO as a kit designer..haha! I am not sure if their H2O pouch is the Condor or not. Yes, I've purchased all 3 of my hobo tools at walmart for only about $4 each! Camping section. Great to hear from you, my friend! -Dave
Love your setup David ! Good to see you , you always have nice kits . I think I need some kind of rebuild kit for my seva123 last time I used it it burned out of control was kinda scary lol Atb John
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment, John! It's great to hear from you, my friend! The Svea's can be funny sometimes. I hope everything is going well for you and I look forward to talking with you again soon! -Dave
Is the Condor capable of holding a 40oz Kleen kanteen ? Nice set up, you've given me some new mod ideas ,for my own Brew kit...thanks for that. cheers 😎 👍 🔥 3:46 It's interesting, our closest canadian Walmart doesn't sell "HEET" anymore. 4:22 I like that bag ,within a bag ..makes it easier to pull out the canteen , without getting snagged on the lip edge of your bottle case. Plz do a review of your Possibles pouch ..plz.
Kanzee I use a 40 oz Kleen kanteen. It does fit. With the cup. However not with the Stanley adventure pot. If you want to have the pot you have to do it his way. Or, if you're like me. Use the nalgean stainless backpacker. This way it will fit the cup, pot, 36 ounce bottle as well as a trangia stove all in the main compartment. Freeing up the side he uses for his stove. Only problem is. Trangia takes longer than the one he's using
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave you awesome comment, my friend! I am happy that I could be of some assistance! I believe the Condor pouch will hold the 40oz Kleen water bottle, however, I have never tried it myself. Yes, that is interesting that your Walmart doesn't carry HEET. Maybe they were temporarily sold out? -Dave
Thats a really sweet kit man! I Like how its all fits so well, I use the same gsi cup and stanly cup, for my canteen I use a Kleenkanteen. I may have to buy the stanly canteen you have there since I just got a condor h20 pouch.. Im interested in your other pouches and what you cary!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, my friend! Sounds like you have an excellent setup! I will definitely be doing more pouch/kit videos, soon! -Dave
how tall is this comparted to maxpedition ones? i have a maxped pair of 10x5's but i need something a bit taller, a 60 oz water bottle works in it but the lid is a pretty tight fit
Fully packed and zipped, I got a 10x4 measurement. I have heard that there are a few companies that make taller pouches. Thank you for taking the time to watch, my friend! -Dave
jeff vaughn left a comment up above that the Orca Tactical H2O pouch is taller at about the same price. Maybe you can see if that one meets your need? -Dave
Have you looked into getting better gloves maybe? I've got the wool military inserts as well but I also have the mechanix insulated gloves and flyers intermediate cold gloves.
I have gloves that are much better than the wool liners I am wearing, however, I wanted to have full use of my fingers for the video. Thank you for taking the time to stop by! -Dave
Thank you for watching, Steve! This pouch was recommended to me years ago and I have loved it ever since! Very versatile and affordable! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave
Dave I hope you still monitor your channel... it’s so helpful. I’m wondering if you’ve considered removing the insulation from the water bottle carrier to make that much more room.
Haha! Thank you for the kind words, my friend! It's great to hear from you! Possibles pouch video coming soon! -Dave

You have the pouches down to a science. Everything fits nice. I like the svea pouch. Cheers Dave.
Thank you for the kind words, Nathan! The pouch has been an excellent addition for the Svea for only about $15! Nice to hear from you, brother! -Dave
Great cooking set...
Thank you, Carlos! It's very nice to hear from you, my friend, and I hope everything is going well for you! -Dave

Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your kind words, John! Very cold out there...about 14 degrees with a nasty windchill, but ideal conditions for being in the forest! I agree about the Stanley cook kit..one of their best products! I hope everything is going well for you, my friend! -Dave
I currently use a kit like that one for my day hiking kit. I need to do a video on mine. Great stuff! Keep up the great work.
I would love to see a video on your day hiking kit, my friend! Thank you for the kind, encouraging words and it's always great to hear from you! -Dave
Nice kit Dave.
Thank you, John! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment!
-Dave
Great One Dave!! , Looks chilly, warm coffee hit the spot !:)
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Clark! Very nice to hear from you, my friend! Yes, on a very cold day, the warm coffee definitely hit the spot and warmed my soul! -Dave
Fantastic kit ! Really like that stove
Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment!
-Dave
nice set up. Please, more vids on the carry systems you use including the possibles pouch.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment, jimmy! I will definitely do more vids on carry systems and possible pouch video coming soon! -Dave
Great Kit dude!!
Thank you for watching, my friend! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your nice comment! -Dave
Good morning and happy New year coffee buddy!!! That's a great setup you have and well thought out. Thanks much for sharing and blessings 😇🇺🇸
Good morning, my friend, and Happy New Year to you, too! I really appreciate the kind words and it's always great to hear from you! -Dave
Great kit
Thank you, Joel! Very nice to hear from you, my friend! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by! -Dave
Nice video. I also use the condor H2 pouch. They are awesome. I carry a 64 oz Klean Canteen bottle with the flat D ring cap and the same nesting cup as you. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the kind, encouraging words, my friend! I really appreciate that! Sounds like you have an excellent setup there! -Dave
I love you awesome kit Dave....most of all..the Svea123R
Thank you, Joel! I am very happy that you took the time to stop by and leave your nice comment, my friend! -Dave
Always cool videos. Great to see ya Dave. Josh
Thank you for the kind words, Josh! Always great to hear from you, brother! I hope everything is going well for you, my friend! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love could tell me how made removable handle to the Stanley kit, you cut down a little bit?
The Stanley Adventure cook cup/set comes with the removable handle. It's a great feature! Thank you for stopping by, my friend! -Dave
Cool stove brother. I like that whole set up
Thank you, brother! I really appreciate that, coming from a "kit master" like yourself! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, John! -Dave
nice kit great video
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! I really appreciate you taking the time to stop by! -Dave
I hate to say this but the pathfinder pouch is better. It is bigger and unlinked.i grew up with the Svea, but carry a canister stove as they are superior in simplicity and convince. Nice video.
Thank you for watching! I appreciate you input! -Dave
-Dave
great kit
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, phyllis! Nice to hear from you, my friend!
-Dave
Good kit..The Orca Tactical H2O carrier is wider and taller than the Condor at a very reasonable price..check it out
Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend! I have heard that the Orca is an excellent pouch, as well! -Dave
Dave, I don't have the Hobo tool tonight, BUT, I will tomorrow... A+
Nice, Clark!
-Dave
Great video as always Dave. And I for onr would love to see what's hidden in the possibles pouch. Take care my friend.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend! I really appreciate that! Possibles pouch video coming soon and you take care, too! -Dave
Does the svea leave soot on the cookware ?
Not that I have noticed...its actually quite the opposite...the Svea has burned off the soot on some of my pots! Great question, my friend! Thank you for stopping by! -Dave
Another great vid! I would like to see your possibles pouch when you have the time. Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your kind words, Troy! Great to hear from you, my friend! Possible pouch video coming soon! -Dave
Very cool your items! Hugs from the South of Brazil / Fernando and Kauan
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment! I appreciate you stopping by! -Dave
Yes please go over the possibles pouch and please tell me where you got your stove. Does it run on coleman fuel ?
I think I need some kind of rebuild kit for my seva123 last time I used it it burned out of control was kinda scary lol
Atb John
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment, John! It's great to hear from you, my friend! The Svea's can be funny sometimes. I hope everything is going well for you and I look forward to talking with you again soon! -Dave
Is the Condor capable of holding a 40oz Kleen kanteen ?
Nice set up, you've given me some new mod ideas ,for my own Brew kit...thanks for that. cheers
😎 👍 🔥
3:46 It's interesting, our closest canadian Walmart doesn't sell "HEET" anymore.
Trangia takes longer than the one he's using
Eric Ocasio if you are using the 64 oz then you are using the largeer pack. This is the smaller option
Thank you Mr Keil, for your response. 😍 👍
-Dave
Cool nice
Thank you for the kind words, Sean! I appreciate all of your continued support, my friend! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love welcome my good friend
Have you looked into getting better gloves maybe?
I've got the wool military inserts as well but I also have the mechanix insulated gloves and flyers intermediate cold gloves.
I have gloves that are much better than the wool liners I am wearing, however, I wanted to have full use of my fingers for the video. Thank you for taking the time to stop by! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love have you any polar fleece gloves?
Remind me one more time what part of the country you are from?
Western New York State, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to stop by, brother! -Dave
Yes, I want to see what is in your possibles pouch.
Possibles pouch video coming soon, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to stop by! -Dave
Great kit Dave, was there a reason you choose this type of bag?
Alles are very well thought items
Thanks for showing
Atb
Steve
Thank you for watching, Steve! This pouch was recommended to me years ago and I have loved it ever since! Very versatile and affordable! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave
Dave I hope you still monitor your channel... it’s so helpful. I’m wondering if you’ve considered removing the insulation from the water bottle carrier to make that much more room.
12 dislikes. You know you are getting better when you get more haters. Lol
Stay high.. on the woods.
Haha! Thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment, my friend! Very nice to hear from you! -Dave
Are you a Robot
Haha..more of a machine than a robot. Thank you for watching! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love you're funny Dave, I love your videos but those cheesy intros and outros, they give me a good laugh!
