The performance was filmed at Take One studio's mocap stage with cinematographer Ivan Šijak acting as director of photography." :-) Wow!
@10:30 This part really looks 100% real. The first time I truly can't spot any 'CGI' effect, it looks completely natural. Are we sure this not just a green screen with the real actor? 😅
At 11:38 when he says "met before" the lips are moving apart too slowly for the "m" sound. Another example: at 10:28 his eyes are blinking like a butterfly wings... There is a lot of un-natural moves like this... So this part is pretty impressive I agree but human muscles start and end their move faster and suddenly. In all video I saw (since the movie final fantasy... in 2001) characters' muscles tends to be too "smooth" in their moves to be natural. I never saw a realistic video in my life about this. In the movie final fantasy when characters turned their head it looked like a L'oreal ad... seriously!
@@alphonse.nonymeI don't know. I looked at it again a couple of times, but I find it hard to spot the effects you mention. If anything I see maybe the slightest deviation in audio syncing with the image. But this is not uncommon in 'real' videos at all and often looks way worse despite it being a 'real' video. What impressed me about this footage was how realistic the hair looked with the light bouncing of all the individual hair strands. And the subtle movements of the skin of the face, and how the texture of it interacted with the light. Flaws in these, or a lack of these kind of subtle effects are usually what gives CGI away quickly. I also found this scene to look much more realistic than the other examples shown, which although good, still clearly looked 'CGI" to me. Knowing you're looking at CGI also really pushes you to try and see the 'unnaturalness'. I wonder how many people would spot it in a 'blind' test, if they're not told that CGI is involved and are only asked what their impression of the video is. How many would say "oh, I immediately saw it's not a real video, but CGI". I doubt it would be many, but it would certainly be an interesting test!
Assuming that a 3D model is compared to reality with a simple still shot, it has already become almost difficult to distinguish it from real life. (Especially if it's black and white.) It's the animation that allows for such incredible detail. Facial capture, to be exact. In the past, reaching this level was only possible with the work of large-budget film CGI companies.
This is the most realistic humans looked animated, you can still tell but you would have to pay really close attention which is so much better. It use to be so obvious.
Would be so fun to write & develop a horror game, legit so many different ways to indulge into the psyche of both gripping storylines & intriguing fears we all share, such as climate, lightning, emotional context, etc.. then add in the actual "monster/story" it seems so fun. Sucks a regular guy like myself wouldn't be given the opportunity although its nice to daydream about.
You can do it bro. Hundreds of free Unreal Engine tutorials on youtube and the best part is you keep 100% the money up to $1 million. Look at ''WE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE'' a solo guy made a game by himself during his timeoff. The game was a success and now he has a studio with like 4 employees. If you want to start for free, I recommend JimDublace tutorial videos on youtube. They are very very good in my opinon.
Yeah plus with AI now you'll be able to be an instant producer director pretty soon. Just start learning the software now...we're going to have 2D/3D holodeck style tech way sooner than people realize.
amazing work right on the cutting edge!! personally Im just wondering how soon until someone makes a tutorial on how to do this. especially scan the skin textures and uv map everything, and then how to achieve those detailed expressions/animations with an iphone recording. not just tryna sell their premade mods, I need to learn how to make my own 😅
This is all on unreal engine 5 for free. Which is one of the two bars game engines will have to go past to make it worth using them over UE5. Amazing engine. Horrible resource hog though. Expect 32GB vram to be pretty standard very soon.
We'll reach a point that AI will be indistinguishable from humanity in all applications, in capabilities, in imitation in camouflaging its' identity. That raises a lot of questions.
All this is really is exceptional sculpturing over the best motion capture tech. The "animation" is therfore not faked but real. right Down to the lip sync perfection. Of course a lot of the tech will also now create a 3d model at the same time but this has been worked above and beyond the live result. Its whats possible, only in such a demo as was created here because all the resources are taken up just for sich short scenes. We'll not see this level of detail make it into games for another 20 years or more. It will be close, it will take short cuts, but the work and resources required here just arent feasible for full game production and its not worth it either in most cases, your never looking long enough into a face this close up. I say this, and only way we would see it now is by a developer taking the plunge, they have already made the model for this demo, use it with no downgrades. I dont see it happening.
Have you seen facial animations in Baldurs Gate right now? They made it themselves without metahuman. If this tool is given to developers now expect to see games using it in a couple of years.
@MaTTGameShow don't think so. This video uses clips from video kojima demo and hellblade. The hellblade fidelity is not the same as in hideo kojimas demo. Even death stranding 2, kojimas own game is not the same fidelity. As I said, they will make it look close and use lots of shortcuts. But the fidelity of kojimas demo will not make it to full games for a while. Maybe not 20. Maybe 10. Remember the fidelity shown off by nvidia on their cards a decade ago. We're only just starting to see that in full games. Or the ps3 quantic dreams demo's. Only just started to be seen in that android game, detroit.
Lol..20? Try 1-2. AI filters on top of basic 3D mesh's we'll have real-time stuff like this in no time. It probably already exists somewhere in a corps basement or highrise. Well..maybe not realtime but you can def even do this today if you have a suped up machine and are really tech savvy enough to create your own real-time deepfake stuff. AGI is basically already here and we've all seen the soraai vids....it's exponential at this point.
That looks great, but how much additional hard drive space will this add to game requirements? We need multi Terabyte SSDs at cheap cost for a lot of this new technology's data. I can't be upgrading hardware every time a new game drops.
That's a question for the game developers who have to work around a performance budget. But I think for the engine developers, they will of course also work on making it as slim as they can, while achieving more with the same performance budget.
How are we certain that the ad for the game is metahuman footage even though it's specified that the game will be using metahuman. The nostril flares lead me to believe that the ad for Kojima's new game is using actual humans for the campaign, which is what we're seeing in the ad. Thoughts?
But the OD teaser actually is just footage, not a 3D rendering? I was confused when I first watched it during The Game Awards, but watching it again later I realized there's no way that's rendered. Also I'm pretty sure that DS2 doesn't use Metahuman tech at all, since it's made using a modified version of the Decima engine, which is Guerrilla's egine that was used for the Horizon games.
there is a wall like the skin still needs work and lip movement there is something off. but otherwise yeah apart from some ai images that are ultrarealistic and some lone developer who created the most realisic skin yet this is the best.
@@buzimm It’s still using the metahuman technology/graphics..only the animations get better when using real actors but the fidelity will stay the same so your point is not valid
