Speaking as someone who has only played this version of Lost World, the game is just as bad as people say, with exception to the special stages. Those are only really a problem when you hook up the 3ds to capture software, or if you are prone to motion sickness.

More color powers, more levels and more abilities.

The Wii U version is worse. I liked the 3DS one more. At least it tries to be more entertaining
Boss battles in 3ds are definitely better than original lost world.
At liest in 3ds you can't defeat boss in 15-20 seconds.
