      They are playing off the idea that singing is a deep form of the soul's communication. The 'questions' and 'answers' are metaphorical. Musically, chants are often calls and responses. So it's not 'noise', but just wordless singing while meditating on self, life, and G-d. (At least that's my interpretation). The actual vocalized sounds don't have a specific meaning.
