The five day Nashville sessions at RCA's Studio B from June 4-8, 1970 provided material for two of Elvis' most varied and contemporary albums - That's The Way It Is and Elvis Country. There was, however, enough material left over for a third album - Love Letters from Elvis.
Having already produced two top drawer albums the third album, by definition, would be filled with the session leftovers and it suffers as a result. However, some context should be added in that it suffers purely because the other two albums are so high in quality and in critical acclaim.
The blame for this lies not with Elvis but with RCA as the album was poorly conceived and poorly marketed, a trend that would continue right up to the millennium until SONY, having taken over BMG/RCA and by default the Elvis back catalogue, attempted to reverse that trend with varying success.
One of the songs included on the Love Letters From Elvis album was Only Believe, the third last song to be recorded during Elvis’ June 1970 Nashville Marathon. This was on 8 June and Elvis achieved the master by take four with orchestral overdubs added on 30 June. The final touches took place on 1 October when additional vocal overdubs were added by The Imperials and The Nashville Edition.
Elvis performed the song just once on stage, during his 27 January 1971 midnight show in Las Vegas, and this is include at the conclusion of the studio session.
As with all of these videos, to get the most out of the re-edited audio, I highly recommend you use ear /headphones and turn the volume up as much as you dare!

Amazingly great gospel song, sung by Elvis' fabulous voice full of belief and love for the Lord!!...In The Overdubbed Master, It sounds very grand and cooler with the addition of a choir and Horns. so true Leon they never valued him like they should of, if he had been a diva and demanded things like today's sings maybe he would have been given more respect but back then he certainly didn't get any, the album covers were just thrown together too
