The happiest people I know met on tinder and are now married with a kid, the only thing that’s different is that you initiate the date online but you meet that person and develop a relationship in person. There’s nothing wrong with that as long as you’re actually connecting to the person.

I hate to be that guy, but some people dont have the ability to go out. its a last resort especially now with covid its hard to go outside. I agree going out physically is better but its hard when most everything is still shut down in some states.

I actually met my girlfriend from a really cringey dating app. We have been dating for a year and 8 months now. This came off as incredibly judgmental and condescending. You’re talking about “what’s natural” when in reality nothing is natural. This is just you playing into societal norms about the “perfect love story”. Seems very ironic for someone who preaches going against the virginity stigma. The world is changing and dating apps make things a lot easier so people don’t have to go out and search for love. It allows people to focus on themselves and their career rather than sacrifice time searching for someone that things might not work out with.
You're making a good point, actually. I personally would never download a dating app. It's not my style since I do like to meet new people in real life. But I still think tools like that SHOULD exist for people who REALLY have tried knowing people before and just couldn't find anyone good for them. Imo, it should be a person's last resort at fiding long-term relationships. Most just use it for quick sex dates.

You know that you don't only date to find a soulmate right? You date to have many many experiences, getting to meet tons of girls (or boys) and have fun with each other and gain experiences. Trust me if, you avoid talking to girls just because you don't feel confident and hide under the "I'll wait till marriage" excuse, when you eventually get married you'll probably be miserable and might in fact cheat because you can't know if that person is "the one" if you haven't had any experiences before. It is very important to get your PUA days as soon as possible guys. Same feelings bro! I've never used a dating app in my life and I never will. It's like buying a product from the packaging alone, without knowing the ingredients / contents.
There is one exception however... There's something real to be said about meeting someone virtually over VR chat, World of Warcraft, FFXIV, Discord communities, and so on... while just enjoying the same hobbies together. In this setting all you really get to know is their voice & personality for the most part. I have friends who actually met their significant other on there. Covid aside it's cheap to get a plane ticket and close the distance, most of them are married now, some with kids. :) Tinder is vain, games can have a lot more authenticity.

Verification can solve the fake profile problem while these apps can be used to find new people and breaking the ice to make the irl date better. As I had read in one of the comments it's just like online friends you might have not met them irl you just chat online and hang out by playing games or watching movies together or just chatting. Dating apps are more used for hookups than getting into a actual relationship it's hard to form a relationship online and as pandemic is going on one can not meet people offline dating apps can work for those specific set of people. Long distance can work via pixels of a phone screen, teaching can be done via those virtual pixels instead of irl classrooms and dating can be done too if u find the right guy/girl

I have to disagree. I think dating apps are superficial for sure, but i think people can meet each other through the app just fine.
As a college student I met one of my closest college friends through tinder. But in terms of love, I think the actual nature of the app makes it difficult to make a good conversation happen, especially when as a man, i always have to start the conversation, and a lot of women will just ignore you if you come up with a hello or whats up. Bumble is a good alternative, yet not a lot of people use it

right? I respect his opinions on things and all but he always makes inconsiderate claims about people and expresses some opinions that are very close-minded. He has a very fixed mindset/idea on things that he is not open to try to understand other point of views as well. I agree with a lot of things he says about loving yourself, not being insecure and all but what does that have to do with things that make your life easier or things you can use/do and enjoy while you are not suffering from any insecurity, anxiety, or depressions.
I know plenty of people who are sexually active, use dating apps, have a healthy relationship with themselves, their families and friends, and is still not insecure of themselves and is confident.
