Rankings do matter and they go off wins and shit. And the fight of the night bonus should be something to strive for.
If you saw how the rankings were derived you'd be surprised. Rankings are set to people that really know nothing of the sport or barely anything about MMA. Also the pay structure of a UFC fighter is show and win money. The win means more and is guaranteed money because FOTN is often a fight where both take A LOT of damage and is up to the discretion of a select few.
