    I add some garlic salt at the end for little bit of a different flair.

      Thank you Mike! Yes, I feel very happy I was able to lose what I did at my age! lol The key to success is to cut the carbs (other than leafy greens and non starchy veggies which have many micronutrients you need as well) and to eat healthy meats along with their fats at meals. If you do this, it fills you up and you can go for long periods of time without food as your body runs on stored body fat (your liver makes ketones from the stored fat to run your body - especially the brain) and you are satisfied. This the first diet I've ever been on that I am not hungry between meals. If the carb cravings creep in, that means I didn't eat enough healthy fat with my meal. I know it sounds crazy, but that is how it works! lol If people "cheat" on this diet or lifestyle, then they will crave carbs like crazy. Carbs turn into sugar once they are eaten and the body will instead run on glucose and convert the rest of this energy to fat. Not good! Anyway, thanks for your kind words my friend! 😊

    Wow! Fifty seven pounds off! Congratulations. I need to do that too, but know nothing about the keto diet. All I know is Weight Watchers, and when it existed, L.A Weight-loss.

      Thank you! Think of Keto like the old Atkins diet of the 70s. You basically ate mostly protein, then fat, and non-starchy carbs. Keto is mostly fat, then protein, then low carbs. If you want to know more about it, Dr. Berg, Dr. Ken Berry MD, and Dr. Stan Ekberg of UA-cam can explain it all very clearly as to how you do Keto. I also occasionally follow Dr. Westman, but I need more carbs (leafy greens and non-starchy veggies) than he advocates. Yes, I did WW too, but it didn't work for me. I was always hungry. Keto has been the first diet that I am not hungry between meals and most of my cravings are gone until I do too many carbs! Truly! Good luck!

    It is great about your weight loss and improved health. Do you exercise too?

    • @ladylibertystacker2014
      @ladylibertystacker2014  2 роки тому

      Thank you Audrey! I exercise, but I don't go crazy. I walk occasionally and do just about everything around the house due to my husband's health issues. I lost a similar amount of weight about 12 years following a plant based diet and worked out at a high intensity for 45 minutes 5-7 times a week. I will take this diet with modest exercise any day over that one. In the summer, I golf 2-3 times a week so I get in "fun" exercise that way as well.

    Question around seasoning the OUTSIDE of a cast iron skillet - how do you do it, outside of the initial seasoning layers? My cooking surface is getting nice and seasoned (from use), but my handle and outsides are still the bronzey color from my 4 crisco seasoning layers.

      I do mini seasonings ON OCCASION on both the cooking surface AND the outside (bottom and handle) but yes, it is harder to get these areas as dark as the cooking surface. It doesn't really matter to me as much as long as they look decent and perform as intended.

      Thank you so much my friend! I had made one about a week ago but didn't like it at all so I deleted the clips. lol When hubby asked for ham & cheese, the spirit moved me to make a video and this one came together with almost no effort at all. I will make them like this when I feel inspired!

    The keto diet seems crazy to me. Maybe for short periods, but I don't think it's sustainable long term. Carbs from food like bananas are really good for you.

    • @Mike-dt1yg
      @Mike-dt1yg 2 роки тому +1

      It's not the carbs in the bananas that are good for you - it's the vitamins, minerals, and other phytonutrients. You can get at least the vitamins and minerals from other foods and supplements, but in general, yeah, I'm not sure it's very sustainable and healthy long-term.

      @Mendicus Machli @Mike Actually, some have done it for periods of 10 years or longer keeping off the weight and regaining their health. The eating is not hard at all and there are plenty of safe sugar substitutes you can use on baked goods and treats that replace the high sugar alternatives. I never knew how bad I felt before until I started this lifestyle. I am totally motivated to stay on it because of how good I feel. Until you've tried it, it is really hard to explain. Fruits are among the most high sugar foods you can eat that spike insulin. Once you eat carbs with high sugar (bananas), they spike insulin in the body and can contribute to insulin resistance and possibly diabetes down the road. It's not for everyone, but the most important thing to remember is to cut the sugar & processed foods.

    • @ladylibertystacker2014

      You can get the micronutrients from foods other than bananas (mainly potassium) such as leafy greens, low carb yogurt, seafood, beef, non starchy veggies, and shellfish. The key to any successful lifestyle is to be able to maintain it. I was vegan for awhile, and that was impossible to maintain, much less to be able to order while eating out at most restaurants. It was super healthy and I lost weight, but as soon as I stopped it, I regained all the weight plus more. Like I said, it isn't for everyone. Thank God I love it!

      Oh, I know about Keto fat bombs! My favorites are my high fat low carb blueberry muffins, chocolate covered almond dark candy, peanut butter cups, etc. When I need to bump up my fat macros, I grab a couple of these after lunch or dinner. It is harder to do when I eat out, so I have been taking them with me and I can store in car just as long as it isn't too warm outside. And because I have to make them, I tend to eat less of them to make them last longer too. 😉
