Just wanna say that the Dodgers have great ownership and management and the ability to pitch their team/brand for Roki to sign with.
I wish I could say that with my favorite teams across multiple sports.
Can't fault the Dodgers for wanting to create a dynasty, and also building for the future. Also brilliant for Roki to be able to sign with a minor league deal.
To all the people hating on the Dodgers, how about them having a top 3 farm system. Just a great organization. Every owner has the ability to do it but they don’t have the right minds.

Sure, but the stacked rotation and lineup, doesn’t always guarantee a World Series championship. We are doing something that a lot of dodgers fans are not; living in reality. Y’all may have won it all last year, but only time will tell if the dodgers, can keep this up. I’m not rooting against them nor for them. The sooner dodgers fans, live in reality, the better.

What an incredible development! Roki Sasaki, the speedster of Japanese baseball, has signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers. There are already critical voices from both inside and outside Japan, claiming it’s unfair or boring that so many Japanese baseball stars are gathering on the Dodgers. However, there’s nothing unfair about it-there’s absolutely no guarantee that Roki will succeed in MLB.
If I were in Roki’s position and had the choice, I would choose the Dodgers without hesitation. After all, Shohei Ohtani, who is about to enter his prime, is there. For a rookie like Roki, it’s only natural as a baseball player to want to observe and learn everything from Ohtani’s every move.
More importantly, MLB is guaranteed to become even more exciting! This is exactly what not only Japanese baseball fans but also most people with even a slight interest in MLB have been waiting for. Ohtani, Yamamoto, and now Roki-pitchers with rare, once-in-a-lifetime talent-will be part of the rotation.
MLB isn’t lenient enough to let this happen without a response. Players from other teams will surely be motivated to step up, and competition within the Dodgers will intensify. In other words, the overall level of MLB will undoubtedly rise.
As a baseball fan, this is exactly what I wanted to see! I absolutely can’t wait for this season’s spring training!
The overall injury risk is probably among the highest in the league. However, if they stay healthy, they're winning 115 games.
that's what they said about last year's Dodgers rotation and the Dodgers began the playoffs with only 2 decent starting pitchers. Hell, the graphic they put up about the 9 potential starting pitchers includes 4 on the bottom who are unproven players coming off injuries and the rest are established pitchers who have had arm/shoulder injury issues this past season.
They can't touch 1998 Yankees or even 2001 Mariners
They were not healthy last year and pretty much glasnow didn't pitch. They potentially will have glasnow snell sasaki Yamamoto and ohtani for a full year.
Even partially without them they almost won 100 games.
@DonnyShine yes but when you run a 6 man rotation of that level of quality it is unlikely that all 6 fall.

Everyone is a contender when Spring starts. Money doesn't buy championships nearly as much as it used to. After the 90's Yankees repeat WS wins, quite a few small market teams have won the WS or at least gotten there (Rays, Royals, D-Backs, Rockies, etc..

Seriously MLB needs to change the rules for Japanese international players. First any Japanese player that wants to play in MLB should have to be entered through MLB draft, they should not have an option in where they end up playing for the first four years to six years of MLB service. Why are Japanese players are getting to enter MLB through free agency or getting to offer their services with years of control to the team of their choice? It is just wrong, why can't a college player forgo the draft and just sign with a team as a free agent just as Roki did? If these Japanese players was to enter the draft then clubs who never have the opportunity to sign a japanese player before would at least have chance to add a player of Roki talent to their team. Why we allowing West Coast teams a monopoly on Japanese players while central and East Coast teams seems to get shut out of the bigger talents from Japan players, just doesn't seem fair!

@@Taycore9 I feel that somewhere along the line somebody in the ad department in San Diego thought that it might be cool to have a vicious adversarial relationship with LA. It didn't used to be that way. One of our favorite things used to be to go to San Diego to watch the Dodgers play and be able to see Tony Gwen perform, maybe a concert. It was a respectful rivalry back then. The way it is now we're concerned for our safety going down there and wearing blue. It's really not the same.
