For anyone interested (I saw a comment asking this): He's yelling "toth rof doof, McGettigan". Plaskett, paying homage to the Clash - as well as the influence on this song itself - cites Revolution Rock's lyric "food for thought, mobsters", but in reverse. And of course, the mobster is replaced by producer - and bassist in this video - Ian McGettigan.
Saw Joel last night in Toronto at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. As always, he put on a killer rock show. Even if you aren't familiar with his stuff, he is so unbelievably entertaining on stage. I highly recommend seeing him any chance you get!
I think the use of the word "split" and talking about how his love left him is also very reminiscent of The Clash. He almost has the same tone to his voice as Joe Strummer.
Hahah, wtf @ the end. Great song by the way. If you handn't of uploaded it, I wouldn't have had the privilege of listening to it, so thanks man. Appreciate it.
@@RazorDaisyFilms I interviewed Joel on my campus radio show and I was dying to know. He was saying "toth rof doof, McGettigan". It was a reverse of "food for thought" (yelled by the Clash's Joe Strummer) plus a callout to producer Ian McGettigan :)
Everything will work out fine, i really hope so...my hope is all in Jesus at this point cause Trudeau, Trump, Biden and Poutine cant cut it, thats for sure.

Just saw this wonderful man at Philly folk fest this past weekend. So dreamy and talented.
If Beck married Elvis Costello, you'd be left with the DNA of Joel Plaskett. Great tune!!
I was just thinking that Joel Plaskett was the Canadian version of Beck
