This guy is selling his book. The orange one has a solid base of indoctrinated supporters who would continue to Blame Obama, Hillary, the Democrats, undocumented immigrants, etc.. To their last dying breath. The economy is sinking into a depression, the unemployment claims will hit record highs this month, most of the country can't leave their homes because a life-threatening virus is sweeping across the population. They still blame the others. It's a cult.
It's worse than that, George W Bush lost the popular vote but his win was due to a partisan, corrupt Supreme Court. The electoral college was supposed to be an emergency tool to stop a demagogue who'd won the election basically by lying to voters -- not to elevate a liar who *loses* the election!
Thank goodness our forefathers were so brilliant. Slave states were trying to get representation for the slaves but not allow them to vote. They duked it out over this subject for weeks in Philadelphia. If they would have gotten than, they would have received more votes. Would that have been fair?
The electoral college is the tip of the iceberg. The US political system is structurally designed to guarantee white supremacy until the end of time. Take the senate. The 14 least populated red states have about the same number of people, combined, as does California. These red states get 28 Republican senators and California gets 2 Democrats. Republicans have used these structural guard rails to generate additional warped guarantees via gerrymandering and voter suppression. Throw in a little Russian interference, a stacked Supreme Court, and, possibly, some strategies of corruption that have not even been revealed, and you know damn well that Democrats will never gain power. We are about 75% into a fascist takeover, and with the COVID pandemic providing a plausible narrative for Draconian measures, I'd be surprised if anything resembling a fair election takes place in my lifetime.
Jim Jones would represent the liberals and the kool-aid would represent the schools, colleges, universities, main stream news, print news, facebook, google, youtube, twitter, hollywood, and silicon valley. I don't think I have to tell you who the drinkers are.
Good interview. I can't help but feel " too little too late". But it has to start somewhere. I'm amazed at how corrupt and self serving senators are. I'm 66 feeling so betrayed, sickened to see the limitless lies allowed. How is this even possible?
I’m 62. We’ve been watching the corruption build since 1968, silently or not. A sit-com of entertainment politics. The military’s industrial complex gone mad. Money worship becoming the state religion. But we are not that shallow. It is not what we would choose for our babies.
I have been taking solace in the first person accounts of Republican Voters Against Trump and believing that there is a movement of people who will vote for democrat for the first time in their lives in order to vote for America.
I'm 70 and, in my opinion, the worst started with Reagan and his policies and rhetoric. Nixon was caught doing something both parties are guilty of doing, always have done and I'm sure still do. He at least pulled us out of Vietnam and he did have a single payer health care plan. However, I still believe that the last decent Republican president was Eisenhower
This country worships celebrity and we're too unwilling to believe our own eyes and ears when someone lies convincingly. Basically I think it comes down to education. Republicans have underfunded and undermined and undercut education for decades and this is the result. Was this their goal,? I don't know but it's a clear result; an ignorant and educated electorate is easier to manipulate and control.
So Stuart--how about YOU, with your superior skills at getting people elected, NOW work at getting Dems or Independent candidates elected in the upcoming election!!!
@Valerie Price Disagree strongly. Do you think a President Al Gore would have invaded Iraq? Or done nothing to address climate change? Do you think a President Bernie Sanders would pander to corporate lobbies after receiving zero campaign contributions from corporations?
@Valerie Price Cool. Tell that to Bernie Sanders who REFUSED to take money from big corp and raised more than any other D candidate. He apparently struck a nerve as centrists Democrats rallied to defeat his campaign. However, the truth still remains: Sanders ran on the Democratic ticket. Democrats, politicians more broadly, are in fact differentiated by their actions and they need not and ARE NOT beholden to this faceless, nameless "central bank" regime you speak of. A bit more nuance in your ideology might be helpful to understand a very complex geopolitical structure.

Education is very important, because what you learn gives you the ability to make things better. Knowledge is power, how you use the power is what defines a person.
A huge part of our turn forward is to learn respect for long term intelligence again. Just as the founders did in their time. The monarchy we have to overthrow in our time is the power of mindless money worship, the zombies of false business as usual, the politics of cannibalism.

@Ross Rain what to do those guys have to do with the Republican Party and its 20 Year campaign xenophobic, racist fear and hatred? Notice that few if any Republicans discuss the poor when many of the middle-class to which they refer are poor but labeled middle-class. Republicans erased poor people in their political discussions.
Actually, there are. The “alternative facts” that are being thrown around are usually taken out of scientific studies that have different results. We have seen how this happens: sometimes it is errors that were missed that cause different outcomes; sometimes it is purposefully done for money or to cover up a negative response that is harmful to a company or an industry; sometimes it is differences in the testing process. Yet, the differing set of conclusions are presented as factual without discussing how the differences came about. The facts are also represented as a final result, and that part is the lie. Scientific study depends upon repeatable results, and only either supports a hypothesis or not. Evidence from a tested hypothesis allows a theoretical position on some aspect of our reality to be developed. Theories become accepted as valid models when they have a preponderance of evidence to support them. So...I observe something and it makes me think I see a pattern. I decide to test it. I form a hypothesis: when people are thinking about how they physically feel, their eyes will move to look down and left. I create a study design: I ask 100 people to answer a question. How does your right shoulder feel right now? A second person watches and verifies eye movement. 100 out of 100 people did move their eyes to the down left position after being asked, and before answering. The hypothesis is supported. I propose a theory that eye movement reflects thoughts in some manner. I design more tests. This is not my idea, but is a subject that I read about and I did conduct the test for a class in psychology in H.S. If you’re interested: down left: how the person is feeling. (We asked, Do you think you are getting a cold) Up left or up center: a past memory. (We asked what main color was the outside of the first home you recall living in.) Up right: imagination or future forecasting. (We asked what kind of house do you see yourself living in in 20 years) side note...ask a person to tell you a lie and their eyes will also go up and right as they think one up, but that doesn’t mean any movement to the right indicates a lie. For example, ask them to pick a name for a shaggy dog and their eyes will go up and right, too, or even more likely go to center up then to right and up. It’s likely they are picturing a shaggy dog they have a memory of, then thinking of a name...imagining how it will fit the dog they pictured. It was a really fun project to do...
This was an EXCELLENT interview... I truly love how the interviewer kept trying to lead the speaker into ACTUALLY admitting that there is RACISM in America and that the Republican Party has become the political face of structural discrimination.
Agreed, however, how do those jobs differ from Wall Street or Madison Ave? Perhaps now people will see that TV shows have conditioned us to accept behavior of corporations an companies and their employees, that which without that influence, few of us would even consider proper or decent. I too wonder. In the future, psychologists are going to have a field day trying to diagnose many of these mad kings in power these days. My guess is that most trumptards are so brain washed they dont even know. For instance, Charles Lindbergh, in the wonderfully written story, the Plot Against America, he was a national hero but also a nazi sympathizer. Eugenics, Hitler admirer the works. Needless to say the man did not even wake up or see with both eyes until a) Germany declared war against America, and b) he walked through the Nazi Concentration Camp. Afterwards he become more of a recluse, but also fought America's enemies abroad as a true patriot should. So in essence, the man was brainwashed until it him, and he finally woke up.So that is my guess how they look in the mirror these days, as far as how they go to sleep at night after their daily disgusting rhetoric? Medications is my guess, who knows!

This is the most important truth. Watching from outside America, it is horrifying and terrifying and immeasurably sad to see vast numbers of Americans reject knowledge, expertise, education, FACTS. Why choose medieval obscurantism? It’s like the start of the Dark Ages, when the science and engineering and expertise of the Greeks and Romans was lost and society was run by clerics, based on superstition. Remember, rejecting facts is ALWAYS to control. Don’t believe your eyes, believe me is ALWAYS about control.

@@charlesandrews2360 Funny how Democrats accuse all their foes of what their doing.
LOL. There is no such thing as “Alternative facts”. It’s the TRUTH or it’s a LIE ! There is not a middle !
Notice that few if any Republicans discuss the poor when many of the middle-class to which they refer are poor but labeled middle-class. Republicans erased poor people in their political discussions.
Yep the demrats in invented it....lol
I create a study design:
I ask 100 people to answer a question.
If you’re interested:
down left: how the person is feeling. (We asked, Do you think you are getting a cold)
Up left or up center: a past memory. (We asked what main color was the outside of the first home you recall living in.)
Up right: imagination or future forecasting. (We asked what kind of house do you see yourself living in in 20 years)
side note...ask a person to tell you a lie and their eyes will also go up and right as they think one up, but that doesn’t mean any movement to the right indicates a lie.

Heartening to see someone grow a conscience-
So this guy has just confessed to what we knew, that he and many others like him are directly responsible for getting us into this mess, and they should have known better. Now, which sequence of events makes more sense:
(1) He gets lauded for his mea culpa, gets off the hook for sustained criminal negligence that got us into this mess to which he has just confessed, and he becomes sort of a hero, the "honest" guy in the Republican party, at whom we all smile.
OR
(2) He goes to jail now.
When the rulers abdicate their power to one man, the inevitable failure of that one man ruins the entire country. I thought we had learned this back in 1776?
If one doesn't learn from history, one is bound to repeat it.
Back in 1776, the British monarchy had been a constitutional monarchy for 500 years. Republicans are working to make Trump an ABSOLUTE monarch; ie, going back to Europe in 1200!
How he looks himself in the mirror is a wonder to me. How any republican does is a wonder.

Ebbrush3 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
"Conservative" means that in America. In e.g. many European countris with long history with leftist/social democratic politics "conservative" means the opposite, because the progression has been firmly towards the right after the collapse of the USSR and "conservatives" always want to preserve the old ways. Conservative doesn't always mean right wing and liberal doesn't always mean left wing
@otownrvr fair enough... if that's your definition of liberal here's my definition of conservative: an immoral person or ideology in which the only important thing is to "conserve" their ability to steal anything of value by any means or lie needed to do so, the end goal being to keep people from financial freedom that would cause them to reject the corruption of the party as a whole, thereby ending any chance that they will ever be a force in this country's political future.
