- Never seen before clip of Slipknot playing (Sic) at the Hairy Mary's club in May 1999 where they played their very first show, in their hometown of Des Moines, Iowa in the USA. This is where it all began. This is it. This was before Ozzfest right after they returned home from California after recording the s/t album. Corey's vocals sound amazing. I say proshot as it features 2 cameras with a soundboard audio feed, I know it's not technically professional. This concert is not for sale or trade under any circumstance, so please don't even ask.

The masks were bought from Des Moines Theatrical Shop, they were just regular halloween masks. The suits they had done at a local sports shop that would print numbers and names on jersey's, but SK had them do the barcode, number, and tribal S, the actual jumpsuits were made by RedKap.

Wow. I am so surprised corey didn't blow out his voice. It is so raw and definately not using false chords. He is literally screaming and damaging his voice. That's probably why he changed his vocals because it literally was so much he couldn't do it that way anymore.

But like you said, it’s only a short lived thing. The vocal chords can’t take that kind of strain for more than a few years usually

From what I've seen, and what you've sourced in the comments, he does very good screams on those clips, but it's not the same pterodactyl scream that he does on the studio, which he perfectly replicated here.
I think this is the first time they played this version of (sic) live. If that's the case, they probably practiced it like fucking work horses beforehand.

@Anechy98 hehe no that's Corey. Anders left in 1997 shortly after Corey joined.
@VovieV2000 It's nu metal, so it takes influences from pretty much everywhere. On the "Slipknot" and "Iowa" records they took inspiration from death metal/grindcore, and softer stuff like the old rap metal from the 90's. The singing style is called "growling", a version of the metal screaming technique used in death metal, amongst other genres.
But otherwise it's screaming.

I am going to be the oddball Slipknot fan, but I like most of their stuff from Subliminal on. Believe me I am as angry a Maggot as they come, but I just find the messages more interesting. I do like the lyrics from all albums, but Iowa and the other early ones just don’t get a lot of cd play with me. Now Iowa off of Iowa I have deep respect for. That track is existential destruction.

@DeMoNicslipknot Anders is a great singer, there's just not many modern Knot fans that can appreciate what he does and did back in the day. Remember without MFKR there would've been no Slipknot as you know it today.

@DeMoNicslipknot Well no matter how much Anders "sucked" he was one of the original founders, and for that he has my total respect. To me he is a great singer and I dig everything he's done with SK,PF and his other side projects throughout the years. MFKR is the beginning of Slipknot.
