Turkey is having a horrible economic crisis. Inflation is sky-high (70+%). Many people cant afford daily necessities anymore. Average salary in istanbul is just 9160 lira (630 USD). It is super hard for people to live there
So so so happy that you came! As an English person living in Istanbul its interesting to see peoples reactions to the city, hope you have a nice time xxx
I’m gearing up for an epic backpacking journey through Thailand and Vietnam, ready to sleep in my tent and cozy sleeping bag under the stars. Over two months, I’m keeping it budget-friendly with $3 street food and $2 rides, plus a $15 SIM for all the TikTok and Insta updates. My flights are set at $420, and I’ve got visas for $50 each. With no accommodation costs, my total trip budget hits just $850. I can’t wait to dive into vibrant street markets and stunning landscapes, fully embracing this Skibidi adventure!
Toba, I love your videos! You're the first vegetarian I've seen doing these sorts of challenges, and as a veggie myself, your videos give me hope that I can see the world without winning the lotto, and not starve along the way!! Keep up the good work, man :)
Toba! Good to see you in Turkey. I am from Istanbul and you can do a lot of good stuff in here. I hope you have a good time. Also please try surviving with no money. Many people are friendly and they will help you through this challenge. Waiting for more ❤❤
@@Ctggetpaid depends on where you go, in many ways we are eager to help people like tourists, foreigners etc. But yeah as you said every country has people who are or are not friendly and turks are among them. 👍🤗
10:17 hello i am from turkey. The necklace you bought is normal price is 30tl. You gave more money, Turkish people do this a lot, be careful, if it's not a precious stone, give a maximum of 50tl
Dont use an ATM. If you are in istanbuil go by the grand bazar and you'l see plenty of places to convert your money over. Take cash but do not convert at an ATM or airport
You need to go to an aspava restaurant!! You get unlimited fries, salad, cig kofte, tea, baklava, helva with icecream and kunefe for FREE (the free items may differ in each restaurant but they're usually the same).
love your content. if visiting again. there are a lot of nice rooftop bars. for instance in eminonu (fatih) you have mezze rooftopbar, moss lounge, kubbe i ask and several different very cool lounges. for european standards they arent that expensive. and you get a very very nice view of the bosporus and the bridges. the food there is amazing.
Dude, as a Turkish, first time I really liked Istanbul vlog. I haven't been in Istanbul for a years and have no idea about prices, but 10 euro for bread on ferry and 120 for a piece of baklava at the last place seemed a lot. I know that some touristic places have 2 menus, one for locals and one for foreigners, maybe that's why :D Or just its normal Istanbul price, no idea.
Rumi said the whirling dervish twirling like the world going around he’s in the state of meditation whilst twirling you need to check out the cami mosque blue mosque and topaki museum
Hey man, sorry for the first guy who didnt understand you that when you asked “can i see the card how it’s look like?” And he said “no”. Man, most of the people doesnt know english in Turkey. I know that’s a shame. Im from turkey i just wanted to say sorry for rude guy. 🙏🏼
By the way that pancakes dish was very expensive.. you could have got a full set of breakfast for half of that price with varieties of jam, breads, varieties of cheese, eggs, vegetables..
Should have stayed in Sultanahmet, $20 for your own room with breakfast + super easy to get onto trams, buses etc + right next to the Blue Mosque - hostels in Istanbul are overpriced.
How much salt & soy are in those "plant based" meals ? I've grown to know when companies emphasize one thing usually they are high in the other. Meaning 0 calories but crazy high is salt
Spending 100£ in 48 hours in turkey is absolute luxury. I think you gotta try to live on 100 ₺ for 48 hours in Turkey
How much is your salery bro

That bus driver gave you a right dirty look when you asked how to buy a ticket. 🤣
i don't think he spoke English
The prices seem amazingly good everywhere! I can’t imagine having that kind of food in New York City at those kinds of places!
Sadly because of the economic crisis

Went to this wonderful place in September 1994. Amazing. Nice to see that it’s still cheap. Another total winner Toba.

@@quantum4 Well, he's more vegetarian than other folks who do this and live off BigMacs, so it's good enough for me :P
What kind of veggie are you? 😂

Another fantastic, informative and exciting video. Great video as always, I appreciate it. Thank you Toba!
I’m from Turkiye and your my favourite UA-camr!
Thanks for these videos Toba! Looking forward to seeing Istanbul someday and these suggestions are good!
If you had Mc Donalds in Istanbul when you had all the Turkish food options, homesick myself would cry :D

Also as a vegetarian option, you could have simit/borek/pogaca/acma (turkish bakery items).
And Churches/mosques and museums are great as a budget activity in Istanbul.
Love the videos bro. im from Uk too but currently over here in Cyprus just across the sea. Maybe try here sometime too. Keep it up my guy!
I love ur videos!!!,they help
GIving me a appetite
You don’t actually need a boat tour. You can just use the public ferry that takes you to different islands.
Man i love that you've come to turkey. You should definitely check out Antalya over here as well!
Thanks for this Toba, I’m going there on Wednesday so your video is perfect timing!
Brother, I really love that place it's mine blowing.... I can't wait to go back 😩
Imagine going to Turkey and think about eating in McDonald's.
Should do a video on how to make extra money in this struggling climate, everything is expensive man

10 euro demiyor dostum. 10 lira. Even 10 lira was too much for that piece of bread, but it is what it is.

When going to stores you should try bargaining with the store owners think it would make things more interesting.
