Very useful and original video, thank you!
Thank you :)
I love tteck's project, it's a huge help for the common homelabber/selfhoster, and I've been using it for a while now.
The thought went through my head though on how easily running the scripts blindly could end badly.
For example if his account would get compromised.
What are your thoughts on that?
Because many people using the scripts, probably:
1. won't check every script before they run
2. Won't necessarily understand everything that goes on in the script
I agree, it's always the case with any scripts pulled from remote repository.
My guess is - you could git clone the repository to some local storage, have it checked and only then run it every time you need it - this way you might not have the latest version but at least you can be sure nobody tampered with it ?
Usually you would sign such scripts. And nobody but you should have this key. Windows Powershell for example checks those signatures.
@@andreas7944 you taught me something new about public and private keys I didn't know before, thanks homie
Awsome!!u save my life ,please keep going.🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Will do! Thanks !
Why do you need cloud init to be set up for the Ubuntu 24.04 VM? I installed it manually and never created any cloud init drive and it works just fine.
Cloud init is not a drive, its a simple tool to initialize and customize your VM.
If your install your VM manually - you can do it during installation process.
If you use helper script - you can employ cloud init to fo the same.
Think of it as different way to install the same thing.
Hope that helps!
You can do the same with docker compose, whole lab with one click 😁
Agree :) in fact - I am thinking about recording some wideos about docker / docker compose / portainer etc.
Cheers! Marek
@@Automation-Avenue I think it's very good idea, almost whole world is on docker and kubernetes wright now. What is perfect setup for basic home lab? what environment, exclude portianer? Cheers!
@@PCMagikHomeLab Proxmox is great, try it out. I have tried portainer and many Linux distros, as well as Hyper-V. Proxmox is the only one that's incredibly easy and allows me to do what I need to do. VMware is good but like he said in the video, most of the features are locked behind a paywall. If I wasn't running Proxmox I'd be running either a very locked down Arch or NixOS with KVM/Qemu but Proxmox automatically sets up the environment so that things are very well organized and ready to go. I can't recommend it enough honestly. Jeff Geerling has good setup videos to get you started.
Yeah I found this out a little while ago. It is literally a game changer.
Because clicking next a few times to create a VM or LXC from the GUI is very complicated :))
@@RaduRadonys Imagine if it was your job to build and tear down thousands of VMs or containers a week. This automation could be fed into other automations that, when added up, could be the equivalent of hundreds of hours of time. Without automation, this kind of work would be impossible for one person. Removing a few clicks per machine is all it took.
The point of automation is to remove as many steps as possible from your workload. This channel IS an automation channel, so mocking someone for being excited about automation here is sort of like making fun of cars at a car show. This is probably not the right place to die on that hill.

I used the transmission script but how can i get the files downloaded?
if you're new to this I would recomend you look in to something like tthe ARR's Prowalarr, sonarr, radarr with maybe qBittorents insted of Transmission. This will allow you to set up each of the steps much easier and sepparate insted of muched togeterher into one. You can still use vpn/proxy with the ARR's ofc. if thats why you wanted Transmission?
Hi @rukako - this is great advice, I can second that!
@@DemoOfficial_org o can donwload the files butt i dont know how to Access the downloaded files on this Vm
