The 2022 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed moves to a new home this season as Halmstad Golf Club plays host to the innovative event. Tournament hosts Henrik Stenson and Annika Sorenstam tee it up alongside defending champion Jonathan Caldwell and in-form Ladies European Tour stars Maja Stark and Linn Grant, but will it be a man or a woman lifting the trophy on Sunday? Home favourite Alex Noren is the highest-ranked male player in the field this week as he goes in search of DP World Tour win number 11. Four of those victories came in as many months in 2016 and since then he has claimed two Rolex Series wins at the 2017 BMW PGA Championship and 2018 Open de France. Swede Maja Stark only turned professional last season but to say her introduction to the paid ranks has been successful would be a dramatic understatement. A two-time winner on the LET last season, she added a third title at this year's Women's NSW Open and sits top of the Race to Costa del Sol, with five other top tens from her seven starts. It’s all to play for in Sweden!

Perhaps the shot of the round for me was her 2nd on the 18th. Win stitched up, and she could’ve fluffed it or done something stupid. Instead, great composure and discipline to play the right shot, and executed superbly. Congratulations

I’m now a fan of Linn Grant. An as close to perfect golf swing as I have seen of any golfer. She has a smart look as well as a beautiful look when she cares to casually indicate her beautiful side.

this should set a precedent for mixed tournaments. I don't care what y'all say, but it's the only way that we can grow the sport even further. If the course ratings and setups would be done properly while looking at scientific data I am sure that we could make up for natural female strength deficit. Linn outperformed everyone and it was crazy entertaining to watch. Great Sport

You know what people... if she played exactly the same game from the =back tees= she would still have had a "Top 10" finish I believe. The yardage discrepancy would account for about 16 to 18 shots in total! What an absolutely phenomenal tournament by the future "Great Linn Grant." Big cheers.

Pro-am tournaments in Australia are a similar format, where the ladies play a course 10% shorter than the men's card.

If it was an easier setup for the women you would expect more women in the top 50 but the opposite is true it’s Linn followed by 15 men making the top 16 spots and only 20% women in the top 50.

How do they figure out the distances for the Women's tees vs the Men's tees? I would imagine they want the Men & Women both hitting the same clubs into the greens on their 2nd shots and they adjust for that, but there were a few Par 4's where she was hitting less than driver and ended up less than 30 yds from the green. Is she just an extremely long hitter among Women professionals, or were the Women's tees maybe a little too far forward?

It’s not historic because she played from different tees. If she won by playing from the same tees, that would truly be historic and remarkable.
the course overall was approximately 14% shorter for the ladies while they hit it about 15% shorter (on average) than men. And btw: the next female player on the leaderboard was 14 shots back, so the course wasn't much easier for them
@@2000tiger taking what you say as true doesn’t make it historic. The fact that one needs handicapping to do something when others do not use the accommodation, means it’s not as impressive. If I win my flighted club championship as a high single figure, great, but it’s not as impressive as the low championship flight, which is less impressive than a pga tour player winning a major. There’s levels to this. A professional female golfer winning a tournament from up tees against male professionals isn’t historic nor is it impressive in the slightest because of the handicap imposed. Just like Lia Thomas beating female swimmers is not impressive. If this female golfer played from the same tees and made the cut even, that would be a historic moment because no woman has even made the cut in a men’s event before, so if she won, that would dare I say be the most impressive feat in all of sports, more impressive than Jack or Tiger’s majors.
Poor butthurt. The format was known. No one was forced to participate. No one was forced to watch.
