- We are back! Checking out Cobus Reinach today. Fun little player to watch. Felt like I was watching a bulldog play Rugby through most of it. He reminded me of another player we reacted to but I forget who it was exactly. Let me know if you have any ideas in the comments.

He was left out of the WC final due to the Springboks going with a 7-1 bench split. so only one backline player on the bench. And we needed the experience of Faf, so Reinach missed out. I recommend watching Chasing the Sun 2 if you have access to it. Amazing docuseries.
Agreed, Chasing the Sun is fantastic.
I really wish they had not done the 7-1 split. In Chasing the Sun 2, they mentioned how it worked at Twickenham. Unfortunately, these were not Twickenham ABs. Faf gave it his all, no doubt about that but I think they should have used all the talent we have.
He actually had the fastest hatrick vs Canada then topped it vs Romania in this recent world cup, man is a Ferrari on wheels
Cobus scored two hat tricks in two World Cups! Amazing player, and super fast. Can play wing easily.
Great review as always... Cobus Reinach started in the 2023 world cup quarter final against France. And because he plays club rugby in France ,French fans posted threats against him and his son....he was among a few players and referees whom they and their families received death threats from fans over social media.
Only Australia has prosecuted a fan so far for issuing threats to rugby players and officials in 2023 World Cup...other countries have not but it really got out of hand world cup time
His father, Jaco was a SA university record holder at 400 metres (I think).
His dad had a best of 45:01 for the 400m and was also a Springbok wing.
Jaco reinach was the national record holder until wayne van Niekerk beat it.

Well, since the Boks were using a 7-1 split for their substitution pools during the World Cup it shouldn't be a surprize that some backs didn't dress for most of their matches.
If I was going to run a 7-1 split and since most goal kickers are backs I would want that 1 to be a backup kicker.
Rsa has alot of talent so he didnt play in the final due to the game plan in place for the all blacks in that time

Yea, my son supports the Sharks, dumped the Flames when Ingie was ditched. It seems Canadians (Not Canadiens) tend to support teams in the NHL that have Canadian players no matter where they are.

Cobus is good but I don't think he will play in the 2027 world cup, South Africa have younger talent coming through.
