My FAVOURITE strings for more than a decade. The clarity and especially the longevity, cannot be compared for me! I play with a 7-string and a 6-string low tuned (B-drop A) and they are amazing.
The 9 46 strings are really good if you like nine strings but have a d tuna on your floyd. The 9 46 can go into drop D without getting too floppy on the low string.
I just got this pack of strings by accident too haha it's been years since played any guitar like at all since 2010 so returning to playing guitar with a Yamaha Pacifica 611. So far it's weird but I'll get keep trying.
I feel the lights had a more chugging like a tighter feel, but the light customs sounds so much pitchy and stretching in the highs, but thank you! Im getting the lights after watching this, have a j-22 Jackson dinky
I just bought those strings for my ltd m1000 deluxe. The only difference I can see is in the tone vs 10/46 strings ( slightly) but I prefer those for 25,5 scale. Thank you very much for the help.
Interesting this video came up. Just ordered DR strings veritas and D'Addario versions of this gauge to try out a couple days ago. Looking for the easier soloing of the 9's with the slightly less flabby low end of the 10's. Sounds like I'll enjoy them!
Yeah, I think you'll like them. As I mentioned in the video, though, you'll tell the difference between the G and D strings because that's where the 'hybrid' split is. I'm interested to know how you like that brand once you get them.
Tip here is 9's fit Jackson beautifully as theyre a precision made instrument for fast fretwork and attack for lead gyitarists; you should change the nut on a Jackson to fit 10's or bigger; where as a Gibson/ Epi is made to accommodate 10's etc as they sit beautifully. This is because classically a Gibson/Epi i generally a twin humbucker guitar made for a fat sound by trading its wire and mahogany wood body to achieve its goal ie: rhythm etc; where as a Jackson is generally a lead guitar, but on occasion made for rhythm etc like the Kelly n Warrior models! Tbf i wouldnt touch u.s strings and keep with Rotosound which sound best with P90s, but i do seap out a couple of strings for lighter strings at the top end knowing where that chambers are within the guitars body as the electronic vibratiion gives an even better timbre within its sound. Ps: Pickups arnt as important as having the right string set-up for a particular instrument. Experiment abit 🎸
I've used Elixir strings in the past and they last a long time but they're so damn expensive. Mostly 9/46 or 9/42 and I mainly used Dean Markley Signature but also Dunlop, Darco sometimes Ernie Ball. I really liked the Dean Markley Blackhawk which is a coated string but they're very scarce suddenly. Rock on!
They’re a little more expensive, yes. But if you think about it, we spend more money on far worse things! And paying $8 or so for a set of strings that will last several months is really less expensive than buying cheaper strings that don’t last as long. So you can look at it that way
Yeah, they're really nice. Although don't sweat on them (obviously that's not good for any brand of strings!) I've got wristbands now! Playing out here in FL is hot!
Yes, they have some sort of coating on them. Lasts a long freaking time but you do have to change the after 2-3 months because the tone will deaden over time
I’m not sure if it’s the climate or something, but whenever I get Elixirs, they break fairly easily. (Like in 1-2 weeks) I don’t really like them, but others seem to have good luck with them, so I’m not really sure.
Never been a fan of Elixirs. Carvin used to put them on guitars I got from them and I got to where I instantly removed them. I use 9-46s on just about everything but they are D'Addarios :)
Dude, I know many guitarists who don't care for them. I've tried so many other strings but have always gone back to Elixirs...in a few cases, I actually switched back that same week
I was thinking to switch from superlights to custom lights since I want to have thicker lower strings, but preserve the bendability on the higher ones. They really last a long time!
these strings sound terrible to me with high gain lead parts, they sound plastic alike and it doesnt have the natural treble tone compared to uncoated ones however high gain rhythms are okay and cleans are great

I like them but I am trying out some new strings for the first time, so stay tuned for a video on that soon!

That's a good point!
Just ordered mine, thanks for your help, your rock my friend, a legend in my book. 🍻
Thank you…these are great strings

I went back to just the regular super lights. Even though it's slight, that size difference between the D and G strings kinda threw me off
Needed to replace my strings so I ordered a three pack. Thanks for the video. Made my decision easy.
You're welcome, yeah, these are what I've been using since like 2009ish!
I feel the lights had a more chugging like a tighter feel, but the light customs sounds so much pitchy and stretching in the highs, but thank you! Im getting the lights after watching this, have a j-22 Jackson dinky
I ended up going back to the regular ones...actually super lights for my 6 string guitars and lights for my 7

These are awesome strings...been using them for decades!

I went back to 9s and have used those for quite some time...those work best for me
awesome review Sir!

Expensive?they cost 15 bucks maybe they seem cheap to me bacasu i pay over double on string for my bass
@ shit im broke ass hell im on a $40 dollar amp and $100 les paul
@ the les paul sound good for the price its a aphiphone les paul sound crisp and clear
@@jasonstallworth In Canada those strings cost 20 dollars and Up
ive tried the elixirs, ther r great but they break with floyd roses
I've never had that happen but I also have a lighter touch than most metal guitarists
i made me hesitant to use the floyd
you can hear the diffrence ur ibanez has a little more top end and your ltd has more midrange also were both sets changed at the same time
Yeah those Ibanez V7 and V8 pickups are beefy
@@jasonstallworth i am really suprised i am suprised u havent put the ibanez specails the dimarzios in it
liked and subbed for the metal
🙏🏻🤘
Can you do a power chord with them ?
Plenty of power chords with them in this video: ua-cam.com/video/MWmgL3FEZgY/v-deo.html
Best strings ever .
Yeah, they're really nice. Although don't sweat on them (obviously that's not good for any brand of strings!) I've got wristbands now! Playing out here in FL is hot!
Are those the kind with a bit of wax or resin or something on them?

Frank Carlson yeah I’m not sure man, I’ve never broken an Elixir string but I also played a little lighter than most people
🤘
🙏 🤘
Hetfield and Hammett use those Elixir superlight.
I love 'em, though I just switched from the customs to superlight.
they both use ernie ball lol what?

Nooooooo Jason!!!! NYXL 10-52 best strings. I got them on my LTD 7 string baritone. You ever tried them?
I have the Elixir Nanwebs 10-52 on my 7 string and love them
Pretty sloppy with both sets. Does elixir make a nanon-slop string?
I’ve never had any issues with the strings being sloppy. But not everyone is going to like these strings. It’s all about finding what works for you
great master 🎸\💀/🤘

I’ve never had any of those issues with them but like most things in life, it’s a to easy their own kinda thing
Sorry man. I couldn't tell a difference in strings from a listener's perspective.
Probably not a huge difference. I’m still using these and like them simply because they last longer (I play live 2-3x a week)
@@jasonstallworth no doubt...I'm a nanoweb guy, myself.
