@@honeybadgerzombie1159 KAZUYA IS BORING, WE WANT TO ENJOY THE GAME. dying to a bozo character and/or playing a bozo character that gets free combos is NOT fun
Not just that but it gets old pretty fast watching games with him. At least other top tiers like joker, pika, fox are all really fun to watch. Which is really what matters for the competitive scene
I saw the screenshot for the diddy/sephiroth spreads a few days ago, was honestly expecting tweek to rip into both of his mains but he made very balanced mu spreads for both
Tweek’s knowledge of this game never fails to amaze me. His opinions are always interesting and well thought out rather than most matchup chart videos where it’s just this character is better than this characters so they win.
Duck hunt is such a weird character lmao, the "low tier" that has solidly winning matchups on diddy, samus, kazuya and a few other high and top tier characters
I realize that you're likely joking, but I would like to note that Tweek is, frankly, better than those players. He was then and he is now. It's similar to, most notably, MKLeo, Light, Glutonny, and MuteAce in the regard that they all have the skill level to make bad matchups possible. Byleth obviously loses to Fox, Cloud, Pyra and Mythra, and Diddy Kong, yet Leo has made it work against all of those characters (although Diddy definitely looks less doable for him nowadays since Tweek is too good). The difference between Tweek and these other players is, of course, that they play with more confidence going into these matchups (with occasional exceptions) whereas Tweek has historically seeked out secondaries instead of trusting in his own abilities as a player (as he should). Fortunately, that has become less relevant over time.
Characters like Diddy are why weighted matchups>overall matchups. You need to take into account how common each chatacter is and the only common hard losing character is Steve (Pac isn't too common and Diddy players, even outside of Tweek, have been doing much better against Fox players recently)
I was going through the comments looking for this exactly. I honestly don't know what he thinks because removing banana makes diddy a straight up mid tier. Villager and isabelle's zoning ability makes it hard enough as it is.
HOT TAKE: EWGF is easier to execute in Tekken than in Smash Bros. He (obviously) feels a lot better to play in his home game (and he isn’t as polarizing in the meta)
That probably is true, but Tekken at high and top level is giving far less opportunities to survive and use it to combo someone to death. Almost everyone has insane combos in Tekken 7 while only a few in Smash do. Also, Kazuya executes their gameplan mostly without regard for how matchups in Smash work.
Watching him vs armadillo one of the things that stood out to me was, diddy racks up damage well but then has to try and catch you with a smash attack. It can be pretty obvious what tweak wants when it is time to kill, so obviously that is where banana comes in to set up into kill hits. But lucario has that charge shot thing, which allows him to stay outside of kill range of banana set ups. There were dozens of times tweak would hit him with banana at range but could get there in time to do anything.
Diddy Kong does struggle to land banana kill confirms on Lucario due to Aura Sphere, but in addition to that, he struggles to land kills on the character IN GENERAL. You see, while his kill power is rather lackluster, one of the many things that makes him so good is his non-commital confirms. That said, Lucario is generally airborne and is extremely fast in that regard considering his base aerial mobility stats and the B-reverse movement options, so Diddy can't land down-tilt → up-smash on Lucario reliably either. The character is also rather hard to catch in neutral even prior to when the stock desperately needs to be taken. The monkey is too slow in the air (monkey flip disregarded) and gets zoned out rather well. This results in Lucario maintaining solid control over neutral and living to extremely high percents, which obviously provides him greater access to Aura and allows him to steal stocks with ease. Keep in mind that while a character may fundamentally be flawed, they can still win matchups. What holds lower-tiered characters back is the fact that a significant portion of the cast can deal with their tools well and exploit their weaknesses efficiently. But, certain characters may have a unique struggle against those said lower-tiered characters anyway. Diddy Kong is so unordinary relative to the rest of the cast that this is a more common problem for him than what is standard.
i know there was a Tweek vs Regalo video a few months back but Lucas😮 has a much better match up against diddy than Tweek gives credit for. Any Lucas player not immediately edge guarding Diddy off stage is not playing the matchup correctly.
Exactly. Theoretically Kazuya loses super hard to characters like Diddy but at the same time kazuya needs to win neutral 3 times in a game and he can win the game. Dumbass character
lol no. he objectively wins wario, he objectively wins roy, he wins wolf, terry, mario etc. Idc if u wanna say his losing mus could be even but he absolutely has mus that he wins, not interested in this narrative
@@beansiii7852 no they cannot. only a few characters in this game have zero to deaths and out of all of them steve is probably the only one who can do it nearly as consistent as kazuya can.
Extremely wrong about Isabelle, I understand he played against Isabelle mains who are way inferior in terms of experience and better skills but he has yet to challenge someone like kept or nery to fully see how this mu is poop for diddy. Fish rod catches diddy with rocket consistently killing at 110-120 percents easy, Ledge traps are awful without banana Pocket takes the whole game away from diddy since approaching is awful without transcendent banana and Isabelle’s good boxing options / good uptilt will keep diddy on check. Every diddy main hates Isabelle except tweek since his level of experience is probably top 2 in the world but unfortunately there’s no Isabelle his played that can show him what the mu may look like if played correctly.
I'd agree that Tweek, being a top player, will have limited match-up experience against characters who aren't seen as competitively viable. Very few people are pushing her tech to its fullest potential. I guess Tweek's argument is that, even without Banana, Diddy has great frame data, so you could theoretically beat her with fundies. Just play as a "worse mario", as he puts it. But Isabelle wouldn't have to play the game like that. She'd still have access to her gimmicks, even if Diddy didn't. Diddy is one of the easier characters to snatch out of the air with Fishing Rod. His out of shield options are also a little faster, but way worse on shield. UpSmash is -29, whereas Isabelle's is -12. It's a shame we'll never see an Isabelle at Tweek level. Casual Diddy players hate the Isabelle matchup.
Thank you Tweek, it's just like i say, for example these numbskulls giving credit to Riddles for playing Kazuya saying he's difficult to use like riddles doesn't spend hours practicing with the character. B please if anyone gave the time a day to practice with Kazuya anyone could use him and dominate. Kazuya is broken and needs a fix
Riddles is still good at the game though. I just hate seeing people saying that he's carried when he has good results with other characters. Don't get me wrong, I hate Kazuya just as much if not more than the next guy, I just hate seeing hate going towards the player rather than the character.

So Kaz obviously isn’t a character you can easily dominate with, hell when the next best solo Kazuya (Tea uses Pac man primarily) is outside the top 100 (Axiom XL) how can you say he’s that easy. Kazuya isn’t broken at all, he just maxed out his attack stat while crippling his defences to awful levels. He’s polarizing more-so and makes every match nuclear, which is why I love watching him.
Does steve move from slight lose to lose with Phantom MLG? Edit: It can neutralize dash attack, forward smash, and up smash, right? Or does the timing end up not working to neutralize all of them
I'm not a Diddy main, but watching the way Tweek plays the matchup, I notice a couple things. First, Diddy shouldn't be doing Dash attack or forward smash when Steve is in the air so PLG has not much impact on those moves. And if you use upsmash only to punish out of shield a landing aerial, it would also invalidate PLG
@Erick Aguirre we should be seeing a lot more Kazuya at mid to high level Ala Rob if he's easy to play. I'm not on the Kaz is top tier train, but he's definitely not bad. Solidly top 30 I'd say.
@@trombonegamer14 When Tweek says that Kazuya is easy, he's mainly speaking about the complexity of his neutral and the options he has to chose. Not about his execution difficulty. At mid and high level, people can't properly take advantage of that property of the character as well as a top player.
That's like telling someone if they're so poor why don't they get a job. I'm not saying you're completely wrong but you vastly oversimplified the issue.
