The perfect combination of personality and knowledge. UA-cam providing a platform for a truck mechanic who otherwise would have been unknown to the world. This guy will have people who don’t care about trucks following the pointer!
Well said. I wouldn't get any work done around this guy. Because I see him holding this pointer everytime he's talking to someone. Especially to make a point in his conversation. I would be dieing from laugher watch the "bob" the pointer. Lol
So true. It’s the combination of his personality, his expert knowledge of repairing bent frames that we would otherwise think of scrapping, and of course the finger pointer!
A good tip to point out When replacing springs you need to look for a matched set Some springs come with a + or a - painted on them That is indicating that they have been matched to each other The only time I got bit by that snake We changed one side owner didn't want to do both He came back later to get the other We ended up with a plus and a minus spring It caused a lean
With the old lead springs, it was really a dumb move not to change springs out as a set. We had a new supposedly mechanic, and he only had the side fixed that had broken leaves. There was a spring shop nearby that rebuilt springs, and they replaced not only a broken leaf, but several that had lost the proper arch. We sat the two springs side by side to show him both needed repaired, and the difference in arch was unbelievable. Nope, he wouldn't have the other spring repaired. And of course, it sat leaned over empty. And the lean got worse when loaded. Good look when you want to meet DOT Enforcers.
Yes sir hats off to you had 3 trucks during my 2 million mile adventures didnt know those repairs could be 3 truck payments my eq took good care of me may God bless
I feel like the truck at 2:13 has a better suspension setup than my Freightliner Cascadia because the axles are underneath the leaf springs. I don't like the idea of having all the weight being only supported by the u-bolts.
If there's one thing I've learned in the trades it's 9 times out of 10 the dude with long hair knows what he's talking about and you should probably listen to him
Thanks for your videos, incredibly helpful for people to understand what forces big trucks are under and how complex it can be to straighten them back out. Not many folks can do what you do it's a lost art!!
I'm sure that someone not letting you and Bob fix is there somewhere. Great job as always with your video and may you and your family have a happy and safe New Year.
Bob is correct. I own a old freightliner flc 120 that leaned like hell since I bought it the bushings on the steer axle passenger side destroyed, new hangers, springs, pins etc truck has zero.
I worked at a truck shop a few years back and saw a truck come in with the cab leaning to one side.. turns out it was the torque arm that was broke on the rear axle to frame. Alot of dirty words later, it was fixed.
I run tri axle dump chassis by PRATT. They run mono spring. It's just one spring per axle per side. When they brake they literally SNAP at the axle. NEVER DEAD SPIN A LOADED TRIAXLE 20ft chassis with the axles stretched. But man they ride GREAT with 50000 in the box.
When u sir have been taught & shown by the best is why ur secessful in ur work & it shows qell most bob does have hreat points lol . U can look at 110 % of trucks & say whats wrong by what the truck says to u .
Good video usually common sense tells us what to look for but u look like u been doing this for a while like me but in the younger generation coming in behind me it seems like common sense is not so common 😂😂
Had a truck go up in flames, burned the entire rear end. caused a lot of damage, bushings, airbags, air lines, harnesses etc. My question is, is the frame compromised? Will it ever be as strong as it was?
My trash truck leans a bit. Never been crashed or abused? I’m gonna have to measure it now. I know it just has rubber blocks for suspension in the back. It’s a 10 wheeler.
This may be a dumb question, but I do not know ok. Do they actually do frame rail replacements? Seems that would cost more than the truck is worth, I mean I can't imagine the amount of labor involved to replace an entire side rail.
Bendon, what does it mean when you’re in the left lane and the truck pulls to the left? Or being in the right lane and pulling to the right? Tandem axle tractor aligned twice in a row, the second time to confirm the first alignment was correct. Before and after symptoms were the same, it pulled to the right and the front right steer had accelerated wear across the entire tread, in comparison to the left steer which was an identical tire replaced at the same time. There was difficulty per tech to get front right steer in spec. Thanks, love the vids!
Hey there bendon. Quick question is it normal for classics to have lean to the drivers side on the front axle? Ive spoken with other classic owners and they’ve all said its normal. Its had it before i had new kingpins and front end work done plus alignment. TIA like the vids on tiktok 👍🏻👍🏻
Do you know what can cause leaf spring to to not be centered with hanger bushings? My 2011 cascadia has that problem. Bushings are all good leafs are good theyre all just not centered with hangar bushing
Is the one spring squared with the axle? Measure distance between front of springs and rear of springs. Can also use a carpenters framing square, ( large on, not the little one) The one spring may have been secured to axle with spring not positioned straight.on axle.
Where is your shop can you send me address my truck driver side leaning I go to many shop but no one fix when any curv driver side they leaning to much
...ha ha, the left front tire of a school bus always wears out before the right front, but that never stops a Chad from taking a cheap shot at a Karen.....

A good tip to point out

The only time I got bit by that snake

Great video Bobs the best for pointing out the troubled areas.

Thank you for a very informative video
Please let Bob rest he's probably really tired n need a beer after all that action
And reason # 0,,,,,
Your wife/GF passenger, ate too many cookies😜
If there's one thing I've learned in the trades it's 9 times out of 10 the dude with long hair knows what he's talking about and you should probably listen to him
Heck yea love every video full of information every time .. keep on rockin brother
Thanks for your videos, incredibly helpful for people to understand what forces big trucks are under and how complex it can be to straighten them back out. Not many folks can do what you do it's a lost art!!
Just because the tires are marked the same size, you can get different circumference from one brand to another!
...I've always wondered about that, but our tire caliper stays locked away from the lowly tire filter for some reason...
Boy that re-rail looks like a fun job!
I'm sure that someone not letting you and Bob fix is there somewhere. Great job as always with your video and may you and your family have a happy and safe New Year.
Thanks Bob! 🤣 Any information on left to right leveling valves and how they work? Fun informational video 👍😁
Thanks for the schooling bro
Love the videos! Thank you for all the information!
Frame replacement video would be interesting. Maybe you already have a vid on that, but heck, if that's the case, make another!
Bob is correct. I own a old freightliner flc 120 that leaned like hell since I bought it the bushings on the steer axle passenger side destroyed, new hangers, springs, pins etc truck has zero.
Is it ok to drive?
Hi Bob 👋
Cool dude thanks for teaching us
Yay Bob! Lol
Can you do a segment on how to properly check bushings and spring hangars?
I worked at a truck shop a few years back and saw a truck come in with the cab leaning to one side.. turns out it was the torque arm that was broke on the rear axle to frame. Alot of dirty words later, it was fixed.
It was on a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia
Sometimes a driver will ditch a truck and never tell you..😅😅😅😅
You are awesome man. Need more knowledgeable people like you.
A 15 degree lean.
Thanks Bob
Love the vids keep up the good work
great video benden

It's Peter pointer 😂😂😂 Bob works
Reason 6: it's gangsta
Good info Bendon
Paul the pointer
Bendon ,what about a box truck with air suspension at rear ,the shocks too can be a suspect of the rear leaning ?
Bob is cool!
Had a truck go up in flames, burned the entire rear end. caused a lot of damage, bushings, airbags, air lines, harnesses etc.
My question is, is the frame compromised? Will it ever be as strong as it was?

Hey do you have the alignment tool for Volvo’s and Mac if so can we get the part number
Brilliant !
so cool dude.....
Is single frame better than double frame when it comes to frames getting damaged over time
My 99 volvo leans. Can I bring it to you to fix?
I was always told, Left leaning, Fat driver.
Right leaning, Fat passenger
Do you know what can cause leaf spring to to not be centered with hanger bushings? My 2011 cascadia has that problem. Bushings are all good leafs are good theyre all just not centered with hangar bushing
No air bag lean either , just wanted to mention😅
Is the one spring squared with the axle?
Measure distance between front of springs and rear of springs.
Can also use a carpenters framing square, ( large on, not the little one)
The one spring may have been secured to axle with spring not positioned straight.on axle.
how old is this channel and why so few subs?
Is this Bobs first video
This is gonna be a quality video
Where are you located?
Was this the birth of "bob"s name?
Where is your shop can you send me address my truck driver side leaning I go to many shop but no one fix when any curv driver side they leaning to much
I have no reason to know this. But here I am. 🤣 Hello other algorithm wanderers
Also if you are over 400 pounds it can cause a lean.
Where is the middle finger pointer, you should have no more than 3
And one more it could be the lard bucket in the driver's seat...🤤
...ha ha, the left front tire of a school bus always wears out before the right front, but that never stops a Chad from taking a cheap shot at a Karen.....
😎👍😎
