Ok, I tend to think I have a pretty thorough knowledge of the cello and classical music, but here I am completely discovering this piece and this composer. Thanks! And it’s a wonderful piece!
From the first moments this piece sets itself apart as a masterpiece. Rare finds like these are the reason I listen to this channel, wading through generally mediocre music in order to extract truly precious gems.
@@SPscorevideos I admire your work, but by necessity not every piece can be a winner. Most of them will be average, so I mean no offence. It's not your fault that some of the pieces uploaded aren't masterpieces, you're just archiving them. Even amongst the great composers, there are dud works produced, so naturally in a channel swimming with thousands of scores will have a certain percentage that really stand out from the rest. Music wouldn't be as interesting if every work were an authentic historical masterpiece. And I apologize for maybe coming off as rude. I deeply appreciate your uploads, since I would never have discovered several of my favourite works without this channel bringing them to my attention.
I think the problem here is the assumption that "by necessity" an unknown composer will be mostly average, producing mediocre pieces. The purpose of my channel is exactly to show that it's really the opposite. :)
@@SPscorevideos Not just unknown composers are mediocre, but very well known ones as well. For every two Beethoven masterpieces, you have a dud, like the Choral Fantasy. When you platform so much music from any set of musicians of any genre, there will be a levelling out of quality and the creation of an average quality. Art museums with hundreds of paintings are the same: not every oil painting is a masterpiece, and you will need to sift through well made but not particularly standout works before you find one that truly inspires.
Unknown composers are not mediocre, they're just unknown. Thinking that there's been a sort of "natural selection" of the best ones which remain known today shows a very approximate knowledge of the History of Music (or the History of Art in general, or even just History itself). I suggest you to analyze deeper what you listen and read and try to see things from different points of views and from the wider perspective of the centuries. :)
Oh man, Rhené-Baton. Serious hidden gem. I have never heard of this guy before!

This could very likely be the most ungrateful comment I've ever received in my life. 😂
