- Used high tensile Red Brand 'no climb' 2X4 horse fence on t-post and t-post alone with the Wedge Loc hardware. Worked awesome... saved a lot of time with digging and concrete.

A little tip from an Old Rancher, always put the fence wire on the INSIDE..facing the animals you want to keep in, Never on the outside. They Will push and break the clips and soon they will be out. Have a great week. Good to see young people working the field and caring for animals.
I learned this about half way through fencing the property. I did it on the outside because that's the way it should "look". Then I saw my pigs pushing on it....its all going on the inside now. The clips are to hold it up.
Since I just want to keep deer out, not animals in, I guess the wire goes on the outside.
@@marshwetland3808 yes that would make sense
I have always staggered mine, 1 in 1 out. Your right about the rings/ties breaking. We keep our beast in but also have scrub cattle and pigs trying to get in from the outside. I drive my lines once a month and just repair/maintain.
I guess Im pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream new tv shows online?
Installed 24' x 40' garden fence on a slope using wedge loc and Red Brand woven wire fencing 4 years ago, using all T-posts for corners and all (no wood or cement). You need woven wire fencing if the fence is on a slope. They also sell Wedge Loc hinge system for gates so have two gates too. Also found some locking gate latches that work with the system. To make it even stronger, used turnbuckles on the diagonal T-posts on the corners. The soil is rocky clay. Rocky clay soil holds T-posts like cement without cement. Neighbors used wood cemented posts and they're popping out of the clay soil and the wood is rotting. The Wedge loc system with T-posts and Red Brand woven wire fencing still looks like new, 4 years later.
Wedge lock is still cheaper than brace posts for shorter distances . Thanks for the tip!
Came for the fence tips stayed for the Operation Ivy. Such a great band. That intro made my day.
I hit the like button because of his shirt, lol.
Those wedges look pretty handy, but this is the first that I've heard about them. I'm putting in a welded wire fence right now. I used three t-posts on the corners too, all three bottoms pounded into the ground. To fasten them together, I drilled 1/4" holes through them at the top and just used bailing wire, wrapped through three times. Super strong!
Instead of bolts on your 2x4s clamping onto the fence fabric, I just use a couple of nice big C clamps and make sure the knots of the fence are in the middle to lock onto
I’ve been wanting to build a fence but was balking at the work on the corners. You just solved my problem!! Thank you SO much!!! Some good additional advice in the comments, too! This is awesome.
Came for the fence, thumbs up for the Op Ivy!
I'm so glad to know about that product! I'll definitely be using that on my homestead. Most other fencing things are out of reach, either budget or physical ability. I think even having to install it alone and with back problems, I can manage.
I'd like to see how you get your posts so straight. Mine look like a drunk 5 year old did them.
It always helps me to set corner posts in place first. Then I’ll eyeball my fence line or pull a string between the corners. That takes the guesswork out of the equation.
I realize this an old comment but jic someone else is reading for an answer: use a level. Few bucks at Harbour Freight or up to $7 at a farm store. Put it on a straight side and check level of two sides, pound 3 - 5 times, then recheck level and repeat as needed. Definitely start with corners first then set a line to have inbetween posts follow.
“I’m gonna stretch this fence with my tractor”
Comes out on a ride lawn mower
With an awesome sticker
Great! Wedge lock is exactly what I need
Answer to prayer for my German Shepherd dog fence! Thank You!
Mine too…
Lock jawz makes some great clips for attaching that woven wire to the t posts also.
Like your video thanks...had to laugh though when you said 3$ a t post 4yrs ago now I'm paying $7.
Me too !!!!!
Saw them for $4 today at Tractor Supply. YMMV
Thanks for the pink pink stink. Really nice touch for the tractor bro!
I'm glad I came across this vid‼it is going to save me lots of time and hassle. Thank you so much man💯
The vent stretcher! So I went to Tractor Supply and they want $100 for those I made my own. It works great. I think I might make a bunch more and sell them for 50 bucks which is half price of tractor supply it still make a profit. Thanks for the tip.
I just found your channel because I’m about to build a fence. I would have subbed because the video was helpful but I was sold before that when I heard that op Ivy. Brought me back to my teens in the 80s and 90s!
Liked it, intro was short and sweet. Got to the action immediately with no long drawn out transitions. I wish you had shown how you secured the fence to the post initially to keep it in place(Like did you secure the top only 1 post at a time, or did you stretch the length then go back and secure?). I'm sorta on the fence about what type of fence to install currently and this video helped.
Good stuff. We subscribed. Little 40 acre farm here in Tennessee and it’s fun to check out new practical ideas.
Nice fence. That’s ok for what you need, if you’re doing 6ft high horse fence it’s big posts, staples mixed with Tee posts.
Going to try these for an area for pygmy goats and chickens. Lots of clay & rocks in our area so wasn't looking forward to setting a bunch of posts, this will cut back significantly on the amount of digging I have To do. New subscriber
If you haven't gotten the fence up yet, you can use a pinch point bar pry (aka digging bar, aka old time ditch witch) to wiggle rocks out of place BUT this leaves a wider hole than a T-post. I ended up using rebar or a nail stake to make a pilot hole, twisted it out, then drove in the t-post.
Thanks. Useful video. I learned about WedgeLoc from you. Their braces have been great for dog fences for my kennel. Sad to hear the prices you quote. Everything is about double just four years later.
Thanks for adding the hardware info. 👍🏻
Good tips, worth trying, cause it's the only affordable fencing option for me.
Thanks - these look very good. I build a lot with t-post. My local Tractor Supply use to carry 10' t-posts. My soil is very sandy so I hammered those in 4' into the ground and then mixed in some cement in with the sand in the top 2 feet and the result is strong enough to support roofing. There are also these steel hangers that enable you to attach 2x4 horizontally. I want to build a small floating enclosed structure (stick barn like) with a soil cement floor and polycarbonate siding and roofing. I do wonder how long it would take a T-post to break down in Florida.
"Where's your brother...." LOL.
Nice video!
Thanks, def. using these on my next fence, always putting up fence! Anyway, great to see someone farming and rocking a. OP IVY shirt man! Used to cover "just another crowd." When I was in a band! Take care, you got another sub.
An update would be interesting if a few decent pigs had been kept in it and whether the goats were ever found. Good for lifestylers for convenience though. Flimsy is a term that comes to mind. A couple of hot wires around the inside would be a great improvement though, pigs & goats respond well to them.
Looking for a way to keep deer out and use Redhead fence without drilling a bunch of holes. Great video!
Have a thumbs up for op ivy.
Yeah man! 🤟 Seems like I’m the only person in the world who knows that until you said something! ... I live in the corn fields of Ohio. I have never met anyone after 1999 who has ever heard of any good music. 😞 Thanks and take care!
Dude, this video is a life saver.
I am "like" #999! Came for the fence, stayed for OP IVY!!! They came and skated my local pool "blood-bowl" in East Oakland in 1986!
Those wedge fence things must have been around forever. Did you notice all the old cars and trucks in the video.
I noticed that. But first I noticed how old the audio sounded.
Way back in 2018 when t posts were only $3.69, wow!!! Inflation has taken over.
Thank you. You just saved me a ton of time and money with that "Wedge Lock" knowledge bomb. Feel good about it. You did humanity a favor.
Add me to the list as well! So glad I watched this!
I love you dude
Well, I can see what your problem was, right there.
There was no beer in your cup holder.
Like the wedge lock contraption.
I've had this system for years, but as shown, the brackets just aren't that strong, like you said. Great for small critters and chickens. Nothing larger, in my opinion.
Think I found the fence. I just need it to keep the new neighbor's dog in their yard. Sweetest dog but I don't need piles of their dog's droppings in my yard. New owners seem to be full of themselves and the type where a simple "good morning" gets them keyed up.
Nice intro and shirt, I wish I knew what happened to mine…
A little Op Ivy intro! Nice! subbed
don't pig dig? can they get under, anything you can do to stop them?
After 4 years what is your opinion on longevity of this bracing?
Have all the fence equiptment but am going to make a stretcher like yours. Ps love the corners. Luca
Op Ivy!!! Hell ya bro!!
Op Ivy! Also your bumper sticker bro! Good vid.
Love that T post corner support. Fantastic stuff.
For a good time, pause at 2:19 two GOATs.
Operation Ivy ❤
Man I wish I just spent the money on woven. I just got 100’ of welded wire done today and the tops are all lose. Bottom is great but I’m going up hill and I can’t stretch this stuff on t posts.
Fantastic video! Thanks man!
I'd like to see how you went around the corner and kept it tight
That,s brilliant! Thanks!
Just came across this video and would like to politely ask for an update. Thanks!
Still holding solid. Has had two full size pigs in it all this time. Would definitely recommend this set up for sure. Thanks. Take care.
He said give it a good yankin' @ 01:17 LOL
Bro this is wonderful I wish I would’ve thought about this before I bought $200 worth of posts 😭😭😭🤦🏻♀️
Any info how to use the kit that only has 1 side of a corner? The packaging leaves me wanting. Also trying to attach welded wire fence to a chain link fence. Hoping to find a video about that too. Thanks 🎉
I’m trying to find a way to put up and section of fence like this in the yard and removable for the dogs
Op ivy, 🤘
what's the mesh size (hole size) of the fence that will prevent baby chickens from going out? is 6 ft height enough to keep the chicken in?
Can u come to East Tennessee and put one up for me hahaha
I couldn't make them work . If you have heard ground and drive your posts, the end gets deformed and the wedgelocks won't go over the end of the posts.
Is this electrified?
like ur content homie
If I need just more of a garden fence do you think the corner supports are needed?
Within 5 years the cost of T post has gone up a 100% they're going for about $7 $8 now
Looks loose that corner post set up is the worst everytime it looks tight you get off on the stretch and it looks loose again use 8" round pine it will hold your stretch.
Will this help to reinforce a fence from a neighbor dog coming through the fence?
Is it possible to make a strong fence if you don’t have a tractor??
Those are not made to hold horse fence. You will only have a loose fence. Wil bend the t post before you get it as tight as that fence is intended for.
Save yourself time and money people. Building a fence twice is not cheaper than building it correctly the first time. 👍
Good evening. We make galvanized wire mesh in China. We can give you a quotation if necessary
How close together did you put your t posts? Would they be ok say 10 ft apart?
I thought there was a simpler solution than digging holes or driving t-post. But hell, you'll still have to drive all those damn t-post
What do you do when there is an elevation change, say a small uphill or downhill? Do you have to cut it and reposition?
This is an awesome question. There are two ways... all of the flat can be done first, then you have to position a post at the apex of the drop or rise in the hill, then spread your post evenly up or down the slants. Attach to the middle apex post, stretch to next, fasten, continue. Until you hit the flat completed post. Other way is to use really long post down in the valley. Just stretch it level across. Then ad another section of fence under the high fence where the hill is. We sell t-post up to 10’ long at TSC. Thanks. Take care!
What kind of clips did you use and what was tool you used for cracking the fence tight.
Love this so much thank you!
How did you attach your fence stretcher to to fence?
@@davebean2886
I sandwich the fence with two 2x4’s on each side of the fence at the end… then put bolts through the wood - fence holes -and wood on the other side. Fashion some hooks to the top and bottom of your stretcher and it’s ready to pull. Best of luck, take care.
I am putting t post every 10ft and I am finding the top of the fence is pretty Flemmsy, is that to far apart or am I not stretching it tight enough? I am using all of the same products
Prolly have to stretch it more. About a month ago I had a leader branch break off a tree about 7” wide… 16’ long. It was laying across the top of that fence, and the fence only flexed about 4” down with all that weight. I was pretty impressed. Best of luck- take care!!!
Can you share a link to the wedge website?
Operation ivy yeahh
Do you think the t post corner brackets will work for a smooth wire high tension fence for a horse?
For that bracing kit, can u use something other than a T post?
Would this be a good fencing for a steeper slope than yours? Or how rigid did you find it on your hill.
Do they have to be used at 90 degree corners?
@Brian Ealy I'm getting ready to do my yard with farm fence and the wedgeloc. I have a dumb question... How do you stretch it around the corner? Or do you stretch to the corner and cut?
Don't cut!
Where did you get your T-Posts? What height?
Tractor supply. Make sure you use the heavy duty T post. Thick ones, none of the thin cheap Home Depot / Lowe’s ones that are like 1/8” thick…. I’m pretty sure I used 5 and a half foot T post for the 4 foot fence. Get them deep. This fence is still as perfect as the day I made the video with pigs and goats. You’ll love it. Best of luck, take care.
I just priced t post in Canada $15.99 each. Plus 13% tax We get screwed in Canada.
Holy cow!!!! That is crazy!
Came here for fencing solutions..stayed for Operation Ivy
It's much cheaper just to use horse fencing. I can buy horse fencing for $55 a sheet and each sheet is 5 foot tall and 16 foot long with the squares being 2 inches by 4 inches, or 4x4 inches. As long as you put a 4x4 post every 8 foot your animals will not get out. That's what we used for our American Pit Bull Terriers, and you know these dogs can tear up anything and everything. We installed the fence 8 years ago and it's still holding strong til this day with no rust issues because it's galvanized steel and also 6 gauge wire, which is pretty damn strong. Using rolled fence like you have...my dogs can get out of that easily because the metal is most likely 12 gauge, which is pretty thin for housing certain animals. I am a breeder of the APBT, so I have seen EVERYTHING these dogs can do. I had one dog jump and climb over a 9 foot wall. We ended up having to build his fence an extra security panel of 2 feet that goes diagonally inward towards his living space so he can't climb over it. If it was in the other direction, going outward, he could easily climb over because he would be able to rest his body on it and scoot his way to the edge. Anyways, if you have dogs like mine, they would get out of your fence in 5 minutes.
Could you share a picture of your fence and where you bought materials? I am hoping to adopt an APBT and need to get a fence up quicky.
How is it cheaper at $55 per sheet?
@@kimberlyingleright4440 I bought the materials from a local hardware store. The panels are 5 foot tall and 16 foot long. They do offer different heights and lengths. I use a 4x4 post every 8 feet to secure the fence to. There are different dimensions in how far the squares are also. For example, my panels have the 2x4 inch squares so my puppies won't get stuck. These are typically a tad bit more in cost because more metal is being used, but it's definitely worth it. These are galvanized metal, so it won't rust. If you have ever noticed that when a dog urinates on metal, over time it will eventually rust and break. But not these posts. We had a 5x10 kennel that we bought from Home Depot for $500 and within 1 year the thing was rusted from urine. So we chose to redo everything in horse panel. The best way to find these panels are to call your local feed and seed stores that carry farming supplies. Hope this helps. Oh yeah....Your APBT will NOT be ae to chew through 6 gauge wire.
@@warrenarmour8357 in the long run it is cheaper because you won't be replacing it like you would with the rolled chan linked fence. Horse panel is the best way to go. Even if you can only do 1 panel a month. We get a sheet of horse panel and it is 16 foot long and 5 foot tall. Each panel is between $55 and 63, dependingon which quage you get and how small the squares are. The wire used in this video would be shredded to pieces by my dogs because they can stretch it. With horse panel, it DOES NOT stretch.
Your prices are way cheaper than here in Canada. About half
Awesome! Thanks!
great info !
Real feeder pigs would be out before you got showered 😂
what's the distance between posts?
How far apart do you drive your t post?
I’m a manager of a Tractor Supply... lol. It’s one of our most debated questions. There is no right answer. It depends on the animal. I like 6 feet for dogs and common animals, kids, just overall in general. 8 feet is good with fence with little contact. Gentile animals like sheep, chickens, and female cattle can go up to 10-12 feet. Horses, bulls, and goats, good luck. Lmao. Goats will find a way out. I did 8 feet for these pigs. Thanks man, take care!
Brian Ealy hey Brian, not sure where your located at but we sure do need TSC to transfer you to North Carolina !! The TSC we have here is the biggest joke of a store I’ve seen anywhere in the country. Every time I think that the manager has completely run the store into the ground and it couldn’t get any worse, that manager will get either fired or Demoted and transferred to another store and the replacement turns out to be even worse. I’ve seen at least 5-6 managers go thru this store in 10 years and they average 99% turnover of other employees every 3-6 months max and right now it’s at 100% cause we did have one fella that had been there over 15 years and he finally had enough BS and left. They hire these kids that don’t care and are lazy and it’s amazing to me they can even keep that store open. Unless it is sitting on the shelf, I can not get it. I’ve started driving 120 miles to a new Rural King they have opened a year or two ago, at least I can get what I need there but just have to plan ahead.
I think I’ll send TSC corporate office an email and see if they would transfer you to my store, I really need someone running the place that knows what they are doing and what they are selling!!! Never hurts to ask, lol 😆
Take care buddy, thanks for the good video
PS: Don’t worry Brian, it’s a nice area and I’ll make sure you feel at home cause I’m from Ohio also buddy!
Operation Ivy!?!?! Takes me back to 1993
If you dont mind me asking how much was everything to do the fence
The t-post are about $3.50 each. They include the aluminum wire ties but you may have to remind the associate for them. I placed mine about ever 8 feet. The hardcore horse / goat fence is about $150 for each roll of 100 feet. If you get the light duty welded wire for like dogs/ chickens or whatever it’s only about $60 for every 100 feet. That’s about all you need unless you want the wedge locks for the corners. Those are about $14 a corner. All available at tractor supply. Thanks... take care!
Hey how much did this cost? I'm looking to do this around my yard..it'd be between 806-1.612 ft of fence..depending on whether we do 1 or 2 acres...what size was yours?
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!
What was the approximate cost per linear foot?
This fence is $119 for 100 feet. T-post you can choose to run every 5-10 feet depending on personal preference, animal contained, and level of the land. The Tpost are about 3.50 each. If you use the wedge locks... they run about $25 each corner and structure end. (Ex. Each side of a gate). Thanks take care!
