Hi fellow Discoverers. This is Alan from Discovery Walking Tours TV. Do subscribe and ring the bell if you are keen to see more of Singapore. I used binaural microphones to record the environmental sounds. So if you have a pair of headphones, do use them, it will be quite an immersive experience 😀 If you notice any interesting points in the video or want to ask about something that was caught on camera, comment with a time stamp (eg @) and I will be sure to check it out. I am also interested to know where you are from 😄 so drop a comment below and say hi! If you are keen to see more of Singapore, check out my playlist below: @
This place has changed so drastically since I was in Temasek Poly. Used to have to take 69 to Bedok Interchange to change to another bus. I was totally lost the other day when I was there. Couldn't figure out heads or tails of this place now.
Visited Bedok in 2002, 2004. I came across this video to recollect old memories, but i can hardly remember the place. Drastic changes and great developments. Great locality!
I had such a good time in Bedok last year...it makes me feel quite nostalgic seeing it all again. The only thing missing is the great pool complex on top of the library! Great video Alan. I can't wait to get back to Singapore!
Hello Alan.....thank you for this vid....we haven't gone to Bedok Mall and the surrounding hawker and hdb flats...we just stroll at CBD, ION,ORCHARD, SOMERSET OR VIVO CITY coz' my daughter's office is just at Bukit Merah😍😘🤩😀😙 thanks again, I really appreciate all your vids that's why I subscribe to your channel....there are many who imitate you but we love your channel all the way😀😉😍😘🤩💙💙💙💙💙
Thanks for the constant support Catalina =) Been "awhile" since I last visited Bedok but more than that I don't think I been to Bukit Merah in more than a year. I think I might have to make a trip down there soon to film it =)
Would be worth a visit to see how a typical Singapore Neighbourhood is like. If you are coming to visit via Changi Airport, and heading to city centre via MRT, Bedok will be one of the stops along the way.
I really enjoy watching this Bedok episode cause I have never gone there before.Bedok is so nice and livable and so self-contained.I know I will enjoy living in this place.TQ Alan
It's a nice place to be in. Food is plentiful and I would think its quite "central" if you happen to live, work and play in the east (as compared to tampines for example)
Bedok changed a lot in recent years. It has its very first shopping mall (Bedok Point) only a few years back when other estates are having shopping malls for years before that. Then came Bedok Mall and Jitsun Mall. What I like about Bedok is the spacious-ness of the blocks as it's an old estate unlike newer and younger estates, such as the ones starting with "S" and "P".
Agreed. The matured estates have a more "organic" layout where people can congregate and mingle for your daily, weekly and monthly activities. The layouts of the newer estates feel forced, Eg. Making people going to a shopping mall to do all their shopping, keeping their void decks empty of kopitiam, shops etc)
Glad to hear from you Simon. I did a short recording of Jurong East during the early period of my channel. The link is ua-cam.com/video/EbHaJG3wkKI/v-deo.html I will do another shoot in time to come. Once I settle the other neighbourhoods in Singapore. Which part of Jurong East do you stay at?
Excellent work, the only downside was the low light (maybe because you shot in evening time with no sunlight). But thumbs up for steady camera and effort !
Thanks Tropicana ☺️ happy to hear from you. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure it's because I didn't do my camera settings right before I set off. Will do my best to ensure better footage in future 🙏😊
You know Alan sometimes may be you can try to film Eastcost park , Botanical garden or Sentosa tours before anyone else has started 👍 You know sometimes I wonder your zoo tour & Aquarium tour could be very useful for now these "school field trip" virtual online tour thou... 🤔🤔🤔 It could be a good start for you Alan regards you as Singapore travel ambassador with no doubt 👍👍👍
Thanks for the suggestions Andy. i filmed a couple of them when I first started my channel. You can take a look at them here: East Coast - ua-cam.com/video/2oS3DOD3xDc/v-deo.html Singapore Botanic Gardens - ua-cam.com/video/DKakV3fNgD0/v-deo.html Sentosa - studio.ua-cam.com/users/video-pK_fcJUdSE/edit/basic I did have teachers and students who reached out to me regarding usage of footage for places (like Pulau Ubin etc). Of which I agreed because its for their educational purposes - projects, teaching material etc. STB also did contact me regarding usage of footage but nothing serious and long term. I am quite pleased with how things are at the moment though. Just finding time to do some leisure activies (walk/cycle) and film along the way😊
First 10 minutes outdoors quite fuzzy. Perhaps can change outdoor indoor sequence for optimal video quality. Otherwise thanks for another very good walking video. Never been to Bedok in my few years in Singapore.
Thanks for the feedback. Will try to ensure my focus is setup properly before walking 😊 Maybe one day I will be able to film Bedok 85 area. Its Hawker Centre has some really tasty food

These town centres at matured estates like Bedok, Ang Mo Kio, Toa Payoh, etc. are so underrated comparing to the newer estates like Punggol, Tampines, Sengkang, etc. which I found it to be so overrated.
Haha 😄 Our government would probably say our older town estates have inefficient planning and take up too much space. But yeah, the older estate town centres have more character (my opinion). But hey I grew up in those environments so it definitely has a special place in heart
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV So true. Older estates have character and soul. When I explored these newer estates, I found that these attributes are somehow missing.

An enjoyable walk, will never be able to find my way around. Thanks Alan for this video.
Haha. Another very large neighbourhood. To me it's almost the same size as Yishun. Lots of smaller neighbourhoods that make up Bedok

I quite like the new amenities in Bedok. Bedok Mall, the refurbished Hawker Centre and Heartbeat@Bedok really brought life back into the neighbourhood

Nice place and you can get lots of halal food. There are also cinemas nearby.
Yup that's right 😁 love the food options at Bedok. I haven't tried the cinemas there though. Are the seats comfortable?
@@DiscoveryWalkingToursTV ok, but very cramped, very little legroom space at GV Bedok.
@@magicayu when to check the cinema reviews when you shared this. And Omg their main complain is the lack of leg space 🤣
Bedok Mall has the Second largest Aircondition Integrated Bus Interchange and the Condominium Residence above the Mall itself.
Thanks for sharing local information to the viewers 😄
Nice place
It's a nice neighbourhood to be staying in. Lots of good food all around. 🍲😁
