Oregon is targeting a lot of Ohio State targets because 1 they’re good elite players. But 2 if you win recruits head to head not only is it an addition for you, it’s a subtraction for your competition. It’s twice as effective. Win the game before the game even starts. Oregon has been doing this to U$C for years. Everyone is bringing up $ and NIL but the move to the BIG has really risen our floor and expanded our reach in the recruiting landscape. Being in the old PAC and being in the BIG in this new landscape is night and day.
Part of the sizzle this year is the sure fire opportunity to play immediately for these 5 star DB's. Ducks may not have to add anymore transfers at those positions. The complete opposite of Dan's first 3 years where they have been completely all transfers
Best way to predict what guys Oregon wants and is very likely will get is to look at the unofficial visits these guys take to Oregon. On3 does great job tracking these. A lot of these guys have been to campus 2,3 times before an official visit
I wonder how often schools track what other programs are doing in terms of offers. Sure each school has their own list of needs with tiers of recruits who fit that need but when their rival school offers someone they maybe overlooked, wouldn’t you think that might spark interest in finding out why they offered and if that kid might be a good fit for their program?
Yeah. I agree that 247 sports uses an outdated metric... Also, they are the only recruiting service that has only one of Oregon's current 2025 recruits, (Moore) rated as a 5 star. I get that consensus isn't going to happen ... But still...
