    I had the same problem with this switch after two months of use, sent it back to TP Link, recommend folks not buy this product until TP Link demonstrates the problem has been resolved. Also the switch is crazy loud, lives up the the JetStream name.

    Can you put a link to the fans you purchased and switched out in this unit, thanks.

    I used to think that 2.5Gb was dumb and that everyone should just move right to 10Gb, but you make some good points in its favor. The lack of PoE in the 10Gb standard and the need for higher bandwidth for access points mean that it will be around for that purpose for the forseeable future.

    • @Holdeenio
      @Holdeenio 2 роки тому +1

      Agreed. All good points here. I think that 2.5GbE will be standard in prosumer homes soon… mainly due to that added bandwidth for Wifi6 APs. I like that this has that dual 10GbE uplink still - it could easily hook into hefty core networks.

    • @awarepenguin3376
      @awarepenguin3376 Рік тому +1

      Nah, you were right the first time. 2.5Gb is dumb and terrible, 10Gb is the way. When we eventually get to 10Gb AP,s the obvious solution is to use fiber to deliver 10Gbps then power the AP locally using AC or PoE but with no data. No one will be piping 10G to access points over Cat cable because of distance limitations.

      @@awarepenguin3376 a whole year later and your comment still doesnt hold true. itll be 2024 in just a few days and the amount of 2.5 devices is still pretty low, 10g is still not cost prohibitive. you fail to realize that mass adoption for any technology takes like 5 years. i mean look at electric cars, we are still at least 20 years away from mass adoption

    The reset process is common with Enterprise grade network gear. This is still SOHO maaayyybe SMB.

    Hol' up. Did I just understand that you use a mac mini so you can teamviewer into it, and use imessage from any machine. That's both genius and crazy haha. You gotta love apples closed garden.
    I am waiting for the TL-SG1218MPE to eventually go on sale. Hoping to link the garage/house with two of them using the SFP ports then have plenty of RJ45s for all my devices. I also have a TPlink router with SFP, so hoping to link as much together with fibre as possible.

      I use a program called AirMessage. It installs on your MAC and allows you to run imessage on your PC or android device. BlueBubbles is another similar program.

      My mini gets used for a number of small Mac only utilities I need to run. I also take it with me when I need another computer for something like audio playback when doing events. Its downloads fielded is shared on the network so I can also use it as an easy airdrop host to get footage and files from my phone to my computer without messing with too much extra software.

      @@MillerTechnicalServices I don't judge, I have many old computers running 24/7 for home automation etc so I get it. Still, it's more the fact you need to do it to get access to Apple stuff. I just wish all companies would share. My personally annoyance these says is Samsung health not sharing with 3rd party apps, currently thinking about writing a script to pull and parse the data. Just frustrating all round.

    Mine also died after a few months without obvious reason. Just two tp-link AP on poe. Sounds like this switch has a design fault.

    Our first switch was RMAd because the ports failed to come up. It get these messages for ALL 2.5Gbps ports:
    1/0/1, PHY FW RELOAD.
    1/0/1, PHY RESET.
    open channel fail!
    Now the replacement switch has died in the same way and I'm getting another replacement. This is SOHO/SMB rubbish. Don't buy this POS!
