Thanks, didn't completely fix my problem but appears to have reduced it on the pagespeed tests.
Edit: After resolving what I thought the problem was, then deactivating autoptimize, it looks like autoptimize was still resolving a majority of CLS out of the two things I changed (one being autoptimize). Crazy that I still needed this plugin despite all the other image optimization, flying scripts, cloudflare and other plugins I use. Grateful for this video because Google started hitting my rankings with this CLS update.

At least it's a step in the right direction.
To get into the high 90s on one of my blogs, I installed Autoptomize, AMP, Cache Enabler, and EWWW Image Optimizer. Set EWWW to create WebP and let Cache enabler cache WebP for mobile users. With AMP, I set it to Transitional because of how my site is set up. In one instance, this got rid of CLS and LCP warnings.
That's the hard part about trying to help people who use WordPress...every site is different and requires a bit of troubleshooting outside of anything I can show. Settings, plugins, custom coding elements, they can all play a role in how a site behaves with any addition you install.
Good luck, and I'd love to know if you're able to fix your issue.

@@WriterSanctuary Thanks for the reply. Yeah anything helps at this point and this is the only video I saw that recommended a plugin as a quick fix, so that was helpful.
According to the pagespeed insights it looks like several elements in OceanWP's menu is creating most of the problem. Weird considering it's one of the most popular themes and it's creating such an issue.

@@Nick-qv3zg I feel your pain. ColorMag and ColorNews were giving me issues at first as well. But, Themegrill fixed how lazy loading handled the homepage widgets. Long story, but it was a broken mess at first. lol.
Before I installed Autoptomize, PageSpeed was saying there was an CLS issue in the actual body of the article. But when I scanned through it with Dev tools in Chrome, there was no shift. So, I think PSI is a little high strung for its own good.
Sorry I couldn't solve your problem completely. That's one of the hard parts of managing a site on your own, nowadays. Not every solution will solve every problem. But if I come across something to try, I'll let you know.

@@WriterSanctuary I've been messing with it the last few hours and I ended up resolving the issue. Pagespeed was telling me the issue was in the menu. So I think the menu style had bugs causing layout shift. Luckily I was able to change to a different but less appealing menu style. Sucks but have to appease Google!

@@Nick-qv3zg I'm glad that you figured out the issue. And I know the feeling. This week, I have to change the entire theme of my website because of weird underlying issues.
Maybe write to the developer and see if maybe they can make an adjustment in a future update? I've seen a lot of developers be exceptionally responsive to feedback like that. Then again, I've also seen developers abandon projects relatively quickly.
Still, it might be worth a shot if you want to keep your better menu.

Thanks for the awesome video! Most of my webpages now have a pagespeed score of 100. The only issue that resulted is, the Autoptimize cache becomes extremely large quickly and I need to empty it every couple of days. Of course that is a small price to pay, but I have not found a solution unless the developers of Autoptimize add an option to automatically purge the cache.

You're very welcome. One thing you can try is adding Cache Enabler. It works great with Autoptimize and will empty the cache automatically for you. I'll be doing a video about this on Wednesday, but since installing it, I've never had to manually empty the cache.
      Hope that helps. :)

@@WriterSanctuary Thanks for that! I just installed Cache Enabler, but I will wait for your video before I configure the settings.
